Work Text:
”Pregnancy suits you.”
Max wants to bite his tongue off immediately. He just can’t slip out things like that. Especially not with George.
He glows. It’s probably mix of the tension finally softening, when the season is over, and the shower he had just taken, but Max could have complimented his omega partner with thousand other words, not blurt out the P-word.
The P-word is not a thing. They are flying out tomorrow, and George has an appointment on Thursday. At a small, luxurious clinic where money buys silence the problem would be taken care off, and Max had been ready to pamper his partner in the privacy of George’s apartment. George even trusting him with the truth had been a big step in their relationship, and Max can’t let his lack of filter ruin that.
The omega goes a little rosy, dropping the towel he had been holding, and quickly pulling on a clean t-shirt – one of Max’s actually.
”Max…”
”I’m so so sorry. I didn’t mean to say that. I support you. It’s only your decision.”
He’d grovel on the floor in front of the omega if it was what it takes. They are finally in a good place. It had taken time, and some uncomfortable, honest discussions. Neither of them wanted only the angry sex they had been having, and now they are an exclusive, functional couple.
The omega sits down on the bed, letting out a heavy sigh. ”Hug me?” Of course.
Max wraps the omega in the warmth of his embrace, letting his nose brush George’s neck.
”You don’t…?”
He does actually. He’d want things to go differently, but Max would never start an argument about this, and his voice doesn’t crack or shake, when he lies to George, soothing him.
It’s hard enough to be an omega in a sport, where some voices would still want to push them out altogether. Taking a gap year just isn’t a realistic option in George’s situation, and nobody knows how his body would adapt to getting back into the car.
”I’d never. I want to support you with this. It was only a stupid thing I said, I swear.”
George relaxes against him, leaning on Max properly.
He smells of rain water and vanilla.
”Not the first time you have done that, huh?”
”Probably not the last time either.”
He lies down with the omega, but soon George is wiggling, and getting up.
”I still haven’t done my skin care.”
Naturally. Max watches him and his products through the open bathroom door. George is pedantic, petty and intense. Beautiful, furiously loyal, and gentle, when one gets through the walls he has built around himself.
Max loves him just the way he is.
