Work Text:
Choi San knew his weaknesses; it was obvious — better than anyone else. Or maybe that's what he thought, minutes before bumping into a striking pair of brown eyes.
Throughout his career, faltering so easily was not in his nature. Among the many glances he had exchanged since becoming an idol, looking at someone had ceased to give him goosebumps even before his debut (which was already a considerable amount of time ago). But... restrained smiles, unpretentious winks, his name being called... since when did that affect him so much?
That's what he asked himself when Choi Soobin's eyes met his. His initial desire was not to go in and approach him, nor to participate in the warm circle of dancing between the members of both groups; however, a shiver that ran through his entire body made him change his mind instantly.
At first, he wanted to walk away and get away from that energy that clouded his thoughts, making everything strangely slow. But he didn't. He couldn't even.
His vision filled with Soobin, who stared back at him with a beautifully gentle smile, extending his hand as if inviting him for a quiet walk. The bubbling sensation that San felt intoxicating all his senses showed no sign of stopping, and he completely lost control when the other boy's voice made itself heard, thus freezing the time between them.
"Hyung... Hyung... Hyung!"
It was a sweet, almost cozy call that stirred parts of San he didn't yet know. Since when was Choi Soobin so beautiful? Had he always been like this? Such thoughts — which he would later dismiss as completely silly — filled his core, while every part of him boiled in search of some answer.
His voice got stuck in his throat, though. His own body softened and, at times, seemed to almost give way, as Choi Soobin's eyelashes hid his eyes for milliseconds, only to reveal them again, always with an extra sparkle.
The silent pause, however, did not last long. Choi Soobin continued to insist, without breaking the almost suffocating interaction that united them. San felt it all like a big blackmail, because not an inch of him could resist; and, even though it was not the other boy's intention, he thanked him anyway.
Only when reality returned to its usual speed did Choi move. He started with slow, somewhat timid steps, as if he didn't want to lose the angelic image in front of him. Soobin, on the other hand, was faster. With a little jog, he reached him faster than he could have anticipated, then grabbed his hand, giving him a big smile.
"Come on, hyung!"
From then on, all he could see were warm smiles and kind looks. Soobin here, Soobin there... He would explain to his coworkers at some other time why he was completely distracted — with some lame excuse, of course — while finding more petty reasons to continue talking about Choi Soobin.
