Chapter Text
Have you ever wanted something you know you can't have? Well that's the problem Mortis had. He was super duper madly in love with a traveling merchant who occasionally came to Star Park, Byron. However, Byron HATED him. Every time they cross paths it doesn't end without a few profanities. Mortis didn't care though, if anything he liked the way Byron treated him. What a weirdo...
One day Byron had arrived in Star Park. He walked on his usual route through the mortuary. Bats flew around him as he traveled. One bat landed on his shoulder.
"Shoo, creature. I don't have time for this." Byron said waving his hand at the bat. The bat was unmoved and even nuzzled up against his cheek. Little did he know the bat was Mortis in his bat form. Byron let out a sigh, not feeling like moving the bat away. "I suppose this bat is kind of cute." He muttered to himself. Byron held out his hands, letting the bat rest in his palm. He scratched the bats belly and a small smile appeared on his face.
That smile faded quickly once the bat changed and Mortis appeared in his arms. Byron quickly dropped him. "Damn it. I should have known." Byron said brushing himself off. Mortis looked up at him with a smug ass smile his fangs going over his bottom lip. "Ha! You pet me and said I was cute." He stood up. "So will you scratch my belly again?" "No! Out of my way!" Byron shouted, his face turning red. Byron continued his journey through Star Park. He walked up to the Mr P's hotel and went to the front desk
"Hello. I would like a room for one." "I'm so sorry but all the rooms are sold out. The Good Randoms are performing tonight and everyone came out here to see it." The person at the front desk said, not looking up from their computer. Byron's face went red again from anger like it always did. He let out a sigh before turning to the door. "It's alright."
Byron asked all around from Piper to Belle and even Barley. He let out a sigh and started heading back to where he came from. On his way back he went through the mortuary again. Mortis was leaning on a headstone lost in thought when he saw him. "Leaving so soon? You've just arrived."
"Well I have no place to stay. The hotels here are all full because of some silly 'Good Randoms' band." Byron said, running a hand through his white hair. Mortis smirked "Well there's always room at my place." "Absolutely not!" Mortis started walking towards Byron. "Oh but have you not considered the fact that more people are here for that band means more potential custmomers?"
Byron paused. This could be the most sales he's gotten in forever with all these people. He let out a sigh and spoke. "I suppose it would. I'll stay with you Mortis." Mortis grinned like he won the lottery. "I knew you'd come around Byron!" He grabbed Byron's hand and dragged him to his home.
