Work Text:

The moon's rays gleaned through the cracked, foggy window of the unruly apartment. Each corner was piled with various types of trash, cans- some empty and some sitting half-drank, papers and wrappers even. Noli sauntered in the kitchen, wearing A somewhat turquoise ,comically oversized hoodie that covered his mismatched fingers. She wore pajama pants- everything, quite frankly..looked suspiciously like they belonged to someone with quite longer stature than the currently small showman. He pushed the half comedy mask up back on his face, having been too lazy to do it earlier when he first noticed it falling off. They leaned against the chipped counter, looking at A two day old, soggy bowl of Coco Puffs that had been left.

“To think I expected luxury..well, the true shame of night scavenges.” The showman shrugged, pulling away from the counter. He let out A hum, looking around the dimly lit kitchen. He glanced over the ungodly amount of mess around the room..it was his own fault anyway..and that unwashed devil he also kept around,007n7. Noli glanced at the sink, strolling over. Why not do something that needed to be done anyway? The dreaded dishes. The horrid excuse for A god picked up A dish and sponge—quietly muttered scenes from ‘Waitress: the musical’..perferibly Never Ever Getting Rid of Me. He would have preferred to have A stage partner, one who had been forced to see the musical by his own will. He wanted his Jenna,A musical by two in the night. But alas...he had to settle for himself. “Ready for your check? Not quite,PIE for EVERYBOD-”

In the midst of A section,Noli's socks slipped right off his heels from the dramatic movement of his stance, ending up stumbling and dropping A half clean plate onto the ground. Unfortunately,it cracked..and he had hit his head on an open cabinet. He let out A distorted squeak, sitting on the kitchen floor- grumbling. He glanced to the side, his eyes widened and he sat blankly. His vision was slightly blurred from the impact. At the entrance of the hall, his beloved roommate was standing right there looking at him..The showman's face flushed slightly as he pushed himself up,grinning if nothing happened at all. “..I wasn't expecting an audience on this wonderful night.”

“I got up cause I supposed you finally perished due to cracking your skull open but appears I was wrong..again.” Amarah chuckled, making his way through the kitchen to stand near them. she leaned over, tilting her head at the man who was slightly shorter than she was. That part always bugged Noli,he could easily fix the height difference but..she felt lazy. Maybe he had A kink for such annoyance that his beloved companions brought him,not like he’d ever really known(or matter-of-A-fact..cared).

“I didn’t know you thought of me so poor,star..The terror and betrayal I feel.” The showman chuckled out, blinking as Amarah slightly nudged him with his hip playfully while walking past him- obviously, smiling behind that head full of hair. Noli always got A sense of satisfaction when the owl smiled,or showed A positive emotion. It always was something so small but it meant millions to him. He knew Amarah was A man of few expressions- if not prompted, there wouldn't be A face to follow that stoic voice. He turned around to watch Amarah, leaning up on A counter-top that was downright disgustingly messy and in need of A clean. “Tragic clown and his failures, oh telamon may pity you.” Amarah replied as they walked around to A cabinet, trying his best to scavenge and find quite literally anything edible to snack on. Noli just chuckled, bouncing up and off the counter to get closer to Amarah. She had to catch himself, not having learned from his previous tumble to be more careful. “If I might inquire..looking for the last of your snacks? I hate to inconvenience..Seven devoured it all.” Noli voiced,Amarah letting out an audible sigh as he reluctantly shut the cabinets in irritation.

“Why am I not surprised, that devil has the appetite of A lion..” Amarah grumbled, rolling his eyes as he glanced at the irritating purple showman next to her. Noli snickered at the comment, his tail flicking behind him playfully. “it already stole the last of my energy cans..I’m very honestly surprised he isn’t dead from heart failure.”
Amarah snickered, bringing his hand to his face to brush away A white strand from his eyes. “He seeks adrenaline, I’m more surprised that one time he actually got caught by admins he got away with it..and somehow didn’t explode his horns off his head.” He spoke, beginning to pace around the kitchen island. She turned her head to look around, grimacing at the filth. Noli noticed his face, picking theirself up to skip closer to her. “oh dear Seven,we may never understand…but you already have 50 problems with us both combined.”
Amarah narrowed his eyes, pushing Noli lightly. “If you two knew how to keep cleanly I would enjoy my space more..I can’t even get seven to wash his sorry ass unless I grab him and do it myself.” The owl hissed, making an irritated coo, earning Noli’s distorted feigned offense.
“tsk tsk tskkk! My dear I fear I have an organized mess of art thank you! You are so very rude to me..an aspiring artist with dreams..A show..fans!”
The dramatic display itself made Amarah shake his head and groan, he sometimes wondered how he was in love with such A man. “you embarrass me.”

“awh..such A pleasure.” The showman clapped and from up under his purple curly hair- he emerged two rabbit ears of the same shade..just for extra pizzazz in dramatics. She watched as Amarah made his way to the slightly misted and fogged window, rubbing it with their sleeve to see out of it. Noli made his way over, gazing at Amarah’s trailing eyes.
“It’s still quite dark..I also don’t believe it’s too awfully cold..despite the windows.” The owl commented, looking over the empty streets from below and A few streetlights shining on A rare car passing by. “What..are you wanting to head out again?” The white eye of his face shifted into A question mark, the other A spiral to show his question. Amarah’s head-wings began to flutter lightly. “well, yes. You know I prefer the night..no crowd.”

Noli hummed, her ears tilting to the side with amusement. “and your going to ask me to walk with you?” She hummed out, getting A small chuckle out of Amarah. “how did you know..” They sassed lightheartedly, knowing very well that they liked to ask Noli to go places with him. With that, Noli shrugged and grabbed the man’s arm, tugging him out the door that had been..tampered with many times before. I didn't lock right anymore, you could just open it. It took Amarah A moment to take the lead, the two beginning to reach the sidewalk by then. Amarah walked in A certain direction, Noli keeping up with his love’s steps. The showman began to ponder as they walked, commenting on random small things such as A cluster of cats in A window from high up..She began to see A familiar path. “..are you talking me where I think you are?” The owl smirked over his shoulder at him, those slanted miss matched eyes giving him A light stare. “the pier.” She made A turn to the left, stepping to A small hill to jump down onto the sand. He climbed up onto the peer latter,Noli following suit with his motions. They were use to coming down to these little spots, it was something they tended to do together. Amarah walked to the end of the pier, lowering himself down onto the wood while letting his legs dangle. Noli sat next to him, sitting cross legged as his tail slowly curled itself around the owls side.
The waves crashed into the stones and the wooden pillars holding the docks up, Amarah letting out A slow breath— leaning back on his hands to gaze at the horizon. The moon cast A reflective glow onto the water. the ripples mirroring the soft light above. The air by the pier was much cooler than other areas in the streets, both of their lungs taking in the slightly salty air in. Noli leaned to the side, resting his head on her shoulder, moving one of his hands to Amarahs. He took their intertwined hands and placed it in his lap. Amarah’s cheeks flushed lightly with A hint of A soft blue, his eyes cutting over to look at their hands and then Noli’s face. She saw the showman’s cheeks turn lightly pinky-purple..it was something that stood out so much from the black and white of his face. She leaned over, pressing A gentle kiss to the top of his head- resting her chin on top of it.

The settled there quietly, having no need to say A thing. Noli hummed, his ears drooping as he muttered warmly, “out of all the fake things I may do for my acts..I cannot fake my love for you,My beauty.”

Amarah gripped his hand, closing his eyes as his long hair swayed with the gentle breeze, “A fool you are..yet I cannot get enough of you.”
