Work Text:
It was close to Christmas, and there was an intense snowstorm going on outside. Luckily, Kaelix and Freo were prepared, as they had isolated their living quarters to just the kitchen and living room, which contained a large fireplace, with a fire blazing inside. They also had plenty of blankets, and the heat was cranked to max.
They also made sure that their child, Freli, was prepared, having bundled her up in several layers in her crib, so much so that she resembled a ball, which was placed close to the fire.
“Hey Furi Furi,” Kaelix said, “I’m gonna step away to bake us up something nice.” Kaelix then went to the kitchen to prep some food.
Suddenly, the baby started wailing. ‘She’s probably upset and woken up ‘cause of the storm outside’ Freo thought. He remembered Kaelix saying that lullabies always helped her sleep.
Usually, Kaelix was the one who sang her to sleep, but he couldn’t bother Kae for something as simple as that, so he decided to sing instead.
He picked her up, and gently rocked her while singing a calming Christmas carol: “Silent night, holy night, all is calm, all is bright…” After a bit of singing and gentle rocking, their daughter finally fell back asleep.
Just as Freo put her in her crib, Kaelix came up behind him, wrapping his arms around him. “You should really sing more, your voice is amazing for it,” Kaelix said, tone hushed so as not to wake their daughter.
“Don’t be crazy, you have a much better voice suited for singing,” Freo quietly replied matter-of-factly.
“Yeah, but don’t put yourself down. I mean it other than just singing, it sounds very pretty when it's just us and you-” Kaelix was abruptly cut off with a hand over his mouth.
“Cochino! Don’t say stuff like that Kaelix!” Freo said, red-faced.
They both then went over to the couch, and turned the tv to some old christmas movie for kids, turned down the volume, and just stayed there. At some point they both dozed off, safe and warm from the storm outside.
