Chapter 1: Home Sweet Home

Chapter Text

Osora and Arias stepped off the plane, feeling the warm Hawaiian sun still clinging to their skin, their honeymoon bags in tow. Osora felt a little sadness from leaving Hawaii but it was perfect. And now, reality was calling them back.

“Back to the real world.” Osora muttered as they slipped their hand onto Arias’.

Arias just smiled with a glint in his eye. “Well, not entirely back to reality.” He said, his voice teasing.

Osora raised an eyebrow, getting suspicious of their husband’s tone. “Oh? And what do you mean by that?”

Arias smiles and held up a small, soft blindfold. “Close your eyes.” He said. “Trust me.”

Osora hesitated only for a second but then he let Arias guide him. The blindfold covered his eyes, shutting out the familiar world and leaving only Arias’ hand in their hand. “Arias… what are you doing?” They asked, their heart fluttering.

“You’ll see.” Arias said as he chuckled. “I just… want this to be our moment.”

————————————-

The drive was quiet and nice. Osora felt excited about the surprise but very curious to know what it was. They drove in silence for a bit. Osora stepped out carefully with Arias guiding him by the elbow. Then Arias stopped. “Okay… ready?” He asked.

“Yeah.” Osora responded. Then, they removed the blindfold.

And there it was.

A house. Big, beautiful, and perfectly theirs. The sun was setting behind it, casting a golden glow across the lawn. The front door was grand, the windows glowing even from outside. Osora was shocked.

“Oh… oh my god..” Osora breathed as they stepped closer. Their hands flew to their mouth. “Arias… this… this is… how?”

Arias laughed softly, wrapping his arms around Osora from behind. “Shh. Don’t worry about how. Just know.. this is ours. For us. Our life together.”

Osora and Arias both stepped inside together, the house larger than anything Osora had imagined. There were rooms filled with light, cozy corners, a kitchen already stocked, a living room perfect for singing together. Every detail felt like it had been chosen with them in mind, a reflection of their life, their love, and their future.

Osora saw framed pictures lining along the walls and small tables. Pictures of them together. Laughing on the beach, kissing in Hawaii, silly selfies, quiet moments. Each frame filled with love, and every smile frozen in time.

“They… they did all this?” Osora asked, eyes wide.

Arias nodded. “Your dad, Celia, Catalina… my dad, Elijah, Leo, Joseph… Everyone wanted to help. We kept it a secret while we were away.”

Osora’s chest tightened with emotion. “They… they did all this for us?”

“They did. Because they love us.” Arias said softly. “And I love you. That’s why I wanted to be the first to bring you home.”

Osora dropped to their knees in awe in the middle of the living room, laughing and crying at the same time. “We.. we really get to love here. Together. Forever…”

Arias crouched down beside him, brushing a hand over his cheek. “Forever.” He repeated, eyes shining with love. “And I can’t wait to fill the house with everything that makes us… us.”

Osora leaned Arias, their heart full, voice shaking with joy. “I.. I love you so much.”

“I love you more.” Arias whispered, sealing the promise with a soft kiss on Osora’s lips.

Around them, the house waited quietly. It was ready for their laughter, their music, their life together. Ready for memories.

Osora and Arias continued to wander through the house hand in hand. Their footsteps echoing lightly across polished floors. Every room held a new surprise.

They explored the living room more, soft couches were arranged around a piano and a guitar stand. A small corner had shelves stacked with sheet music and songbooks. It’s their music corner. Osora picked up a book and smiled. “Arias… you didn’t..” They said.

“I did.” Arias said, smirking. “I may be your husband, but I know my way around your favorites.”

In the kitchen, the counters were spotless, stocked with their favorite snacks, appliances gleaming under warm lighting. A little note stuck on the fridge read: “For midnight baking experiments. Love, everyone.” Osora laughed and hugged Arias. “Your family really went all out…”

Next, they stepped into the bedroom. The bed was big and soft, pillows perfectly fluffed, blankets folded just right. On the nightstands were framed photos of them from trips, silly selfies, quiet moments at home—they hadn’t even noticed all the photos until now. But Osora felt a tug at his sleeve. “Arias… What about the backyard?”

Arias smiled and led them through the sliding doors, and Osora’s jaw dropped. The backyard was breathtaking. The golden sunset reflected off a sparkling saltwater pool, perfectly shaped with soft lights glowing beneath the water. There was a small patio area with a table and chairs, potted plants, and even a hammock swaying gently in the breeze.

“Oh… oh my god,” Osora whispered, stepping closer to the pool. They ran a hand along the water’s edge, marveling at how real this felt—like a dream they didn’t want to wake up from. “This… this is insane. You… you didn’t…”

“I did,” Arias said, wrapping an arm around Osora from behind. “I wanted us to have a place where we could relax, laugh, sing, swim… just be us.”

Osora leaned back into him, letting the warmth of Arias’s embrace and the soft glow of the backyard lights settle over him. “It’s perfect… every little thing. Our house… our home… our life…”

Arias kissed the top of Osora’s head. “Exactly. And this is just the beginning.”

Osora spun around, grinning, unable to contain themselves, and splashed a little water from the pool. Arias laughed and pulled them in closer. “You’re going to make me jump in with you, aren’t you?”

“Maybe,” Osora said, eyes sparkling. “But I don’t care. Because this… us… this is everything I ever wanted.”

They stood there for a long moment, the water shimmering, the sunset fading, the house around them waiting silently to be filled with music, laughter, and love. And in that perfect golden glow, Osora and Arias knew—this was home.

—————————————-

The sun had fully set, and the house was now bathed in soft, warm light from lamps and string lights Arias had helped set up earlier. Osora and Arias had changed into comfortable clothes, not pajamas yet, lounging in the living room with their feet tucked under soft blankets. The pool outside reflected the moonlight, the gentle sound of water from the little fountain creating a peaceful rhythm.

“I still can’t believe this is ours,” Osora said, resting their head against Arias’s shoulder. “Every little detail… it’s perfect.”

Arias kissed the top of their head. “We made it perfect. Together. And tonight… I say we celebrate with something simple.” Osora looked up, curious. “Simple?”

“Movie night,” Arias said with a grin, gesturing toward the TV. “Just you, me, some popcorn, and no responsibilities for a few hours.”

Osora laughed softly, excitement bubbling up. “I like the sound of that.”

They settled onto the couch, a big bowl of freshly popped popcorn between them. Arias reached for the remote, flipping through the streaming options. “Action, comedy, romance… What are we feeling tonight?”

Osora shrugged, tugging the blanket closer. “Something… light. Happy. Feels like the first night in our new home should be.”

Arias nodded and selected a feel-good comedy they’d both loved before. As the opening credits rolled, Osora leaned against Arias, his fingers entwined with his husband’s. They laughed together at the silly moments, shared quiet smiles during the touching ones, and occasionally, Arias would brush a stray strand of hair from Osora’s face.

Halfway through the movie, Osora nudged Arias. “We should do this more often. Just… us. Nights like this.”

Arias smiled, tightening his hold around Osora. “We will. Every chance we get. Our home is finally ours… and so are these moments.”

By the time the movie ended, the room was quiet except for the soft hum of the TV and the occasional rustle as they settled deeper into the couch. Osora rested their head on Arias’s chest, listening to the steady beat of his heart.

“This… this is everything,” Osora whispered.

Arias pressed a gentle kiss to their temple. “Everything, and more. And every night from here on… it can be exactly like this.”

Outside, the moonlight danced on the pool’s surface, the house glowing softly around them, holding the start of countless nights like this peaceful, full of love, and entirely theirs.
————————————
“That was perfect,” Osora murmured, snuggling closer into Arias’s side. “Exactly what I needed.

“Arias chuckled softly, brushing a hand over Osora’s hair. “Me too. But I think it’s time we turn in… big day tomorrow, and we have the whole house to explore.”

Osora nodded, pulling themselves from the couch. They held Arias’s hand as both of them walked toward the bedroom, the soft carpet under their feet and the warm glow of lamps guiding their way.

The bedroom still smelled faintly of fresh linens and lavender. Osora paused, taking it all in—the bed made perfectly, the framed photos of them smiling at each other from past adventures, the little touches their families had left around the room.

“This… this is home,” they whispered, running a hand along the sheets. “Our home.”

Arias smiled, leaning down to kiss their forehead. “Exactly. And now… sleep. Tomorrow, we are gonna start making it ours in every way.”

They changed into comfortable pajamas, laughing softly at each other’s choices—Arias in his usual loose tee, Osora in soft sweats. Once ready, they climbed into the bed, letting the plush blankets wrap around them. Osora rested against Arias, feeling the steady warmth of him beside him.

“I can’t believe this is real,” Osora said softly, fingers tracing Arias’s hand.

“It is,” Arias murmured, wrapping an arm around Osora’s shoulders. “Every little thing… every laugh, every moment… it’s ours now.”

Osora sighed contentedly, letting their eyes drift closed. “I love you,” he murmured.

“I love you more,” Arias replied, pressing a gentle kiss to Osora’s temple.

The room was quiet now except for the faint hum of the air and the distant glimmer of the pool outside. Outside, the night cradled their new home, while inside, the first night in their life together ended in warmth, love, and the peaceful certainty that they were exactly where they belonged.

Arias watched Osora as they fell asleep in the cozy bed. He smiled watching them and planted a soft kiss on Osora’s head.

“Welcome home, Osora Calaveras Arguitrez.” Arias whispered, right before he closed his eyes and fell asleep.
