Once upon a time,
In a land in the middle of nowhere,
Two young souls play together.
Rui Kamishiro is a young teen, only 14, studying to become the greatest of sorcerers. Due to a terrible, horrendous, scandalous curse (or blessing?), he was bound to fall in love with the worst person he could: Tsukasa Tenma, who is training to be the best knight the world will ever be honoured to witness, who is also his age… And his best friend.
It’s a terrible fate! He should not feel this way towards him!!! Not in any universe! Well maybe in another- No!
They lived in a campus – yes, one in the middle of nowhere – where every single person was training to be someone: a knight, a sorcerer, a doctor, a nurse, anything that needed lots of training and studying. Once one’s training is over, they are assigned to a kingdom: darmenia or linforthis. Of course, these are not the only kingdoms considerably close to the campus, but they are the ones that created it. Matter of fact, the campus is placed exactly in between these.
Rui rolled on his bed – he didn’t want to wake up today. Why, you would ask, and he would answer without any hesitation: “Because today everyone in this training campus would be assigned to a kingdom forever!”
But isn't this the day he had been looking forward to? The day everyone looks forward to? Today the event he and Tsukasa worked so hard to have a place in- hadn't he been expecting it to come soon?
Ah…
Right.
There is a chance that he and his beloved- wait wait wait wait. Beloved?!?!
There is a chance he and Tsukasa end up in different kingdoms. A big, huge, enormous chance. And Rui doesn’t want that, which is why he had planned to somehow manipulate the results. But he should have expected what happened; every single dorm had been locked from outside. Now Rui knows why the dorms have an outside locking system. Now he can’t do anything to make sure he and Tsukasa end up in the same kingdom, and it upsets him.
Should he confess to him while he still has the time?

He is so thankful that his wall was badly constructed. This way he can slip small things under the small gap on the corner of the room. Small things like hairclips, small spoons… Paper…
Rui grabbed his notebook, looking for an empty page – which was way harder than expected, he wanted to slap himself for doodling on every single one. Talking about doodles, one of the pages has a little Tsukasa on its corner… Ah, he is madly in love with that boy.
He decided to use the page with the small tsukasa. It fits the occasion. Now to his new dilemma; should he use a pen or a pencil? No, no, a pen is more… adequate. Black pen, yes. It's the one he told Tsukasa he almost never used, because “It's not worth using it for mundane stuff, like taking notes from my class”. Now, to the text… This feels weird. He had only seen book characters do so. But it's what he can do right now, since he can’t slip out of his dorm to hang out at Tsukasa's like he usually does.
Dear Tsukasa,
It feels very weird writing this. But you must have noticed our doors are locked, as expected from the world’s best knight! That being said…
I won't make a huge text for saying this, it will feel even weirder; I, Rui Kamishiro, have eaten vegetables.
No, I'm joking, I would never. But I would for you…… Tsukasa Tenma, I, Rui Kamishiro, find myself in love with you.
Please don't hate me for this. I understand if you do, but it's not what I want. I don't expect you to feel the same (even if I hope so), but I needed to get this out- off? Don't kill me for not knowing the right one to say. I needed to get this out my chest.
I would write every little thing I adore in you, but the more I write the more I hesitate in actually giving you this.

It looks.. Not so bad. No, it looks terrible. But! He will send it like this. He can't wait too long.
He knocked on his wall, calling out Tsukasa's name quietly – his bed is placed exactly by that wall, so there is no need to speak too loudly. Plus, Tsukasa's hearing is impressive.
“Rui, go to sleep, it's late- unless you need something, of course..!” A voice answered.
“Ah, Tsukasa! Uh… I wanna give you something.”
“You do know the doors are locked, right?”
“Yes, but- it's- just check on the crack I usually give you my notes..”
“You- okay, okay…” Tsukasa said with a sigh, and Rui could swear he heard his bed making that annoying noise, signaling Tsukasa stood up.
Rui went to said crack on the wall, taking a deep breath before folding his letter and shoving it there. And shit, Tsukasa already grabbed it!? Too late to back out now…
Silence.
“Haahh.. my hands are shaking. How pathetic-”
Rui's thoughts were interrupted by Tsukasa's small gasp – small only in “it was quick”, because this boy is as loud as the accidental explosions Rui causes some times.
“... Tsukasa I-”
“Rui..!”
“Im- sorry, I-”
“Shut! Let me speak!”
“Ah- you- okay, my bad..”
“... actually, no, uhm… If you can survive the wait, can I write?”
“... You may, yeah” Rui said, and, Kaito save him, he sounded out of breath.
“Just a moment!”
Tsukasa did not need to almost scream this, but Rui could not care less.
A minute
Two minutes
Three.
Four.
Five.
Six-
And Rui heard paper being roughly shoved on the crack. He obviously grabbed it as quickly as he could, and when he unfolded it…
“Rui,
I LOVE YOU TOO YOU MORON YOU IDIOT YOU AUGHHH… Why didn’t you say so earlier?!?!?!?!?!!!! Actually, no, forget this last phrase. But just know that I feel the same!
When we go to the kingdom, we shall date! No, actually, right now! If you want to of course! But knowing you, you probably want to. Also, that letter will stay with me at all times. I will wrap it on the cling plastic they have in the kitchen so it doesn’t get wet or dirty. LOVE YOU

Rui could cry. And he did. Unfortunately, a small sob crawled his way up his throat and out his mouth. It was followed by a “Rui? Are you okay??” from the other side of the wall.
“couldn't be better. And I- I’m serious..!”
“... You idiot.. I love you, do you hear me? And-”
“yes- I want to… date..”
“... thank you.”
Rui has never slept as well as he did that night.
