Chapter Text
A loud meow echoed throughout the large mushroom the elf called home. She sat up, her eyes shot, not yet adjusted to the morning light quite yet. She stretched slowly, climbing out of bed. Her fur, which covered her body and tail, was fluffed up and messy.
As she climbed down the ladder to the first floor she spotted the one behind her early rising: A white Norwegian Forest Cat. The fluffy cat had a black collar around its neck and green eyes. It was pawing at its almost full bowl of food.
It was begging for more.
Just like. Every. Morning. This wasn't the best part of her day, but she didn't mind it as it got her up.
She hopped onto the floor and went to grab the bowls. Walking over to the counter the cat followed her meowing and weaving through her legs. As she emptied and cleaned the water bowel the cat rubbed against her, pausing only for a moment to swat at her tail.
When she placed the bowls back down, both full, the cat ran to them, proceeding to eat and purr. She went back up, walking to a trunk in the corner.
Upon reaching the trunk she reached in pulling out her favorite outfit and pulling it on. Brushing her fur out and placing her hat on her head she grabbed a basket and went to turn the doorknob.
Stepping out into the forest she started on the path to the human town nearby. The path was overgrown and not well lit. The ground littered with rock, vines, and old rusted lanterns. As she walked through on the path she watched as the giant mushrooms that made up the woods she called home shifted into pines and red oaks as she reached the town. As usual when she visited, it was akin to a ghost town. People locked their doors, slammed their shutters and windows, and all the stalls were closed.
She knew there were people but they seemed...Scared of her. Of her magical nature. Or perhaps her appearance.
The elf was a soft light pink with the longer hair like fur on her head and the fur on the end of her tail a bright hot pink. She bore fang like canines when she smiled. Which she learned scared the humans. Standing at 6'ft definitely didn't help. Nor did her long pointed ears. To the townsfolk she was a demon.
She reached a shop and halted her thoughts as she went inside. A bell rang and she stopped. Glancing around the shop.
She was quickly greeted by a voice at the counter. "Mornin' doll" Cocking her head toward the voice she saw the shop owner. She smiled softly. Without her teeth. She walked over to the counter. Setting down the basket with a soft think.
"Hey Luna" she signed slowly but with confidence. The shop-keep took a moment to read the signs so the elf always made sure to sign slowly for her.
In fact the shop-keep was the only human she interacted with. The only one who wasn't scared
"Whatcha need this time?" The shop-keep spoke softly. She often kept ingredients behind the counter for the elf since the elf couldn't read in English.
"The usual order" the elf signed calmly. A soft smile on her face. The heart spots on her cheeks letting off a soft glow in the dim lighting. A sign of her magical nature.
After paying and retrieving the basket now full of herbs and other ingredients she walked back through the forest. Upon placing her hand on the cold knob she heard a faint voice in her ear.

"Ninaaa~" ignoring it she opened the door and it grew louder. When she suddenly jolted up right her fur soaked in sweat due to the heat. Long and unkempt. Her eyes wide and shot due to lack of sleep. Her legs formed a diamond with how she sat... Awkward due to their digitigrade nature. Her tail lay over one of her legs and her cat lay between them.
Looking to her left she spotted the source of the rude awakening. A small being that called themselves Cas-sidy. The elf found the pronunciation of the name odd. As she was sure it was meant to be pronounced without the weird emphasis in the middle.
"Oh I was worried you'd ne'er wake up! " they shouted, hugging her. The dual voices of a woman and man from the being was not something she thought she'd ever get used to. In fact it hurt her head quite a bit. She sighed pushing them off her and standing.
Walking to the oak beside them and grabbing her bag from a limb. As she reached for her hat the light caught on her bracelets, which bore crystals, a blue one on the right bracelet and a golden one with three branching ends on the left
"Why do you wear those?" She pulled on her hat and glared at the small person. Ignoring the question. She had been traveling with them for a year at this point and missed her cozy home. She picked up Cosmo. Her familiar. He had been following around the black and white cat that Cassidy called milky for the past few minutes.
Tired of being ignored Cassidy started packing their camp up. According to them they were a God. The elf highly doubted them. A God couldn't be that small and annoying. Could they?
"Nina. It's quite rude to ignore people you know." Cassidy started their voice harsh and sharp. "It's just a simple question. It's not like I'm asking you to tell me your life story." They complained.
Nina, the elf, stopped and turned to Cassidy. Glaring harder.
The hearts on her cheeks glowing a deep red. As the fire went out. There wasn't wind or rain. It was just... Out. Cassidy froze. Having never seen Nina use magic before.. And definitely not expecting that to be how she used it.
"Uhh...was that..you?" Cassidy furrowed their brows, tilting their head slightly as they spoke. Their voice softer, and more in unison than usual. Nina cocked her head at an angle not used to that oddity for them. It had sounded like They spoke with one voice, a childlike one. She looked down at them. They had a soft face, the voice was fitting. Nodding she started on the path to wherever they had been traveling. Cassidy caught up with her, their bird and cat following behind the two as they walked into the distance. The sun now rising as they disappeared into the horizon.
