Explanation again

Summary:

A one shot before the first chapter of Praxina’s revenge where Iris explains to Nathaniel that she’s a magical princess all over again, this time in Ephedia, it doesn’t go well.

Notes:

I’m sorry to people that like Iris and Nathaniel as a couple, I like them too, but I wanted to write this.

Work Text:

Iris closed the door to Nathaniel's guest room in Ephedia's castle, they were alone in the room and the tension could be felt.

"So, explain to me now, you said you would once we were safe." Nathaniel said confused.

Iris took a deep breath this conversation was a long time coming. "We're on another planet called Ephedia and I'm it's princess, I guess." She said nervously, because she still couldn't believe it herself, that her parents were alive and that she has to be a princess now, an actual princess destined to inherit the throne someday, a throne she didn't even think about until a few weeks ago when she and her friends defeated Gramorr.

"I can't believe this."

Iris looked up, Nathaniel was pacing anxiously or maybe he was angry Iris wasn't sure.

"How could you keep this from me - don't tell me that you have magic too." He was definitely angry now.

Iris nervously opened her palm and muttered a spell that created a pink light orb.

Nathaniel threw up his hands and turned away from her, walking to the big window overlooking the courtyard.

Just then a knock was heard and a maid walked in.

"Your Highness, your parents are waiting for you by the carriage to go to Volta." The maid said.

"Thank you, Mira." Iris said and followed her stopping at the doorway, looking back at Nathaniel.

"Can't we still be friends?" Iris asked him.

"I'll think about it." Nathaniel said flatly not looking at her.

Iris tuned her head back towards the hallway and Mira, following the maid out of the castle with a sad expression on her face.
