What kind of guy burns the rulebook?!

Summary:

Richard comes back after a very longgggg day of finals to him dormmate hosting a whole ass party in their dormroom.

(Taken place before the great melt happened + before adoption island even existed)

Work Text:

" Hhuhurrgh.. " Rich clutched his head as he walked to his dorm, the weight of the finals lifted off his shoulders, maybe his family would let him visit? It's been a while since they've enrolled him in the boarding school, but considering for the past months, no one from his family, not his father, not one of his brothers or sisters, checked up on him.

' If their youngest son failed, would they even accept him as his own? '

' ... '

His attention was quickly grabbed by the distant sounds of chaotic partying, people yelling, subtle thumps and loud singing.

He stood like a deer in headlights trying to listen to the partying, it was distant - but it was definitely coming from across the hall.

Rich continued walking to his dorm, with each step, the partying grew more louder and intense, until he was right in front at the door of his dormitory, once he opened the door - he was immediately greeted with 'California girls' at full volume, the dorm was packed with a shitton of people, some were doing karaoke, some were doing tricks and etc. He pushed past the crowd and spotted his roommate -

𝘿𝙤𝙣𝙤𝙫𝙖𝙣.

The one who would always ask for Rich's notes, who would never listen when they're having a lecture, who would always nudge Rich and say 'hey-hey-watch this!' And try to balance a pencil on the bridge of his nose, the one who never had a worry about his future, he always seemed to be living in the moment and never think about how it could affect him in the long run.

Rich shoved his way through the crowd, finally coming face to face with Donovan, when Rich called his name, he simply turned around and greeted him with a grin - the kind of grin that makes you want to punch whoever was grinnig in the face. But Rich resisted and gripped Don by his wrist.

" 𝘋𝘖𝘕𝘖𝘝𝘈𝘕! WHAT IS THIS?? " Richard said in hushed whispers.

" Oh 𝙃𝙚𝙮𝙮! Welcome to the party! Was hoping you'd come later since, y'kn- "

" That- THAT DOESN'T MATTER! " Rich was furious, he gripped Donovan's wrist tighter, which made Don try to break out of his grip, attempting to pull out of his grip.

" - You're ending this right now or i'll!- "

" -Or else you'd what? Tell the Principal? 𝘙𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦, 𝘣𝘢𝘣𝘺, this ain't high school anymore dude! You gotta have 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦 fun in your life! " good grief, Rich would've swinged at Donovan's face right there and now but the way he called Rich 𝘙𝘪𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘦..he could have sworn he felt butterflies in his stomach- or maybe he just haven't ate for too long.

" Ughh, Fine! Fine! You know what? I'll end the party! " Richard finally let go of Donovan's wrist, to which Don immediately took his hand back, 𝘺𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘴.. 𝘛𝘩𝘢𝘵𝘴 𝘨𝘰𝘯𝘯𝘢 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘣𝘳𝘶𝘪𝘴𝘦..

" EVERYONE! Party's over! You can say thanks to Richie over here " Donovan rolled his eyes after his announcement, glaring at Rich " Happy now? " " .. Very. "

Everybody at the party replied with a collective groan or sigh, but there was no progress of people gettin out of the dorm, Richard cupped his hands near his mouth - " I'LL TELL THE PRINCIPAL! " Rich yelled, which immediately got the people flooding out of the dorm room, " Be careful - dont trip! "

When the last person finally left, it was just Donovan and Rich, in the middle of a messed up, room filled with confetti and alcohol.

" .. Seriously? You just have to ruin everything-dont you? " Donovan sighed " Just because you're not having fun- doesn't mean other people can't have fun, dude. "

" You could've gotten a noise complaint, or worse, all the people that attended the party could've gotten kicked out the school. " Rich put his hands on his hips, looking at Donovan with furrowed eyebrows.

" Well- "

" Now help me clean up this mess, get the broom. " after that, Richard tried to navigate through the floor filled with stuff from the party. Donovan Sighed but ultimately oblidged to help clean the mess, after all he 𝘥𝘪𝘥 start it. Thats something he can't deny.

The dorm was looking cleaner then before, the left over confetti was in the trash can, the empty glasses of alcohol were in the trash bag near the door, Rich said he'd go throw it out after the room was cleaned.

After the last piece of trash was finally thrown out, Richard entered the dorm and wipes his forehead, letting out a sigh of relief.

Donovan was on the couch, resting after cleaning the dorm (AKA, sweeping up one singular area - the kitchen, which wasn't that messy.) His feet were on the table, relaxing, Rich approach the back of the couch and lightly tapped Donovan's shoulder, which almost made Donovan jump from his seat, but when he saw Rich, he snarled and continued relaxing, which made Rich sigh.

" 𝙃𝙚𝙮, you're going to the principal with me tomorrow. Okay? " Richard started.

" W-Huh? What?! But i just cleaned it up! The dorm's literally spotless now! - "
" You mean 𝙬𝙚? You cleaned the kitchen, there was barely a mess back there. " Richard pointed at the kitchen. " Yeah? So what? It's clean 𝘯𝘰𝘸. "

Richard sighed, they should really invest in a sighing jar.

" In the rulebook, it says any parties, whether that'd be celebrating without champagne, or wine. Is strictly prohibited in the dorms- "

Donovan cranked his head around, this time his brows were furrowed as if in confusion
" You actually read that thing? I thought they just give it to you for extra fuel for the fireplace. "

" I- what? "

" Kidding! Well, not really the 'extra fuel for the fire place' thing "

This time, the silence stretched farther, they both looked at each other uncomfortably, probably with a mix of emotions, Rich's being 'what the hell is wrong with this guy?!' And .. Also a face of a dissappinted-but-not-surprised Mom, Donovan's unsure-grin dissapeared quickly after chuckling abit to lighten the mood.

Well, reading books wasn't really his hobby, so of course he had to find another way to use the book without it collecting dust on a shelf.
