Chapter 1
“And just what are you wearing Ms. Riddle?” The old dungeon bat implored me.
“Is this where you tell me, clothes doth make the man? You can see the skirt, clearly female. Mommy Dearest likes what I wear.” “Mommy Dearest also likes to kill muggles, Ms. Riddle.” He deadpans. “But do we need them? They have no magic and magic is life. Clearly unimportant. A non-issue, if you will.”
“Hermione,” he sighs, “please tell me all of those piercings are fake. You didn't have them before the last Hogsmeade visit. Your father will kill me.” “He was there with Mother. She told him I needed to be able to artistically express myself,” I replied. “To be a fly on the wall during that visit,” he drones. “To be fair, Daddy likes to kill muggles too.”
My godfather shakes his head, clearly not knowing where to go from there. “And what does your betrothed think of them?” “Oh. He’s going to do the same next Hogsmeade weekend. He really likes them. Says it spices our-” “ Stop right there. I do not need to know more. You’re dismissed.”
I hop out of the room, giggling. “What did he say?” My betrothed asks. I told him. “What happens when he tells your dad?” “You mean, considering they are fake?” I say as I take them off.
“One day Uncle Sev is going to die from alcohol poisoning. That or a heart attack from everything you put him through,” my cousin comments. “Everything I put him through?! You told him you were gay last week and practically sucked Potter’s tonsils down your throat in front of him!” “But Blaise dared us to! You know not to turn down his dares. The Truths are brutal!”
“Wait, you’re gay?” Theo questions. “What about Ginny?” Draco rolls his eyes, “ It. was. A. Dare! I thought your ball and chain was smarter than this?” Draco implores me. And they said girls were drama. Boys had drama in spades.
I sigh, “Didn’t we have a talk about Blaise’s dares?” That’s when Blaise walks up, “About dares….” he starts. “There might be moving pictures of Draco and Theo in drag…..” “You seriously need a boyfriend to do all of those things for you and not straight guys.” I let Blaise know. My eyes lit up, I had an idea! “No,” Blaise Pleads, “there is someone I want but can’t have. I would rather be single. Also, my Madre is unaware and personally I’d like to keep her in the dark.”
“But what happens when she pairs you off with someone to marry?” That seems like a sad way to live, with someone you couldn’t love the way you needed. I mean yeah, he could have kids with them but he wouldn’t be happy. I can’t have that, I need to make a plan to help him. But, how? “I can see the wheels, Mi, please just let me be. I’d rather my Madre be happy with grandkids than the alternative,” he sighs as he frowns.
