Chapter 1: Oh great, this guy?
The winter wind filled the air with a crisp bite that humans were wary of, for the most part. But this wind was Jack's favorite, the breeze tickled his ears and sent lovely shivers down his spine. The spirit flew gracefully above the trees, taking in the sweet, earthy scent of pine and sap before hearing a small chirp beside him. He glanced over to watch a chickadee flutter right by his eyelashes and he knew that this snow day was going to be a great one if he had anything to say about it. Since Jack had joined the Guardians and saved the world from Pitch, he had now been yearning ever so slightly to be bored like he was before having all these damn responsibilities. But then a thought perked him up ever so slightly, It is getting closer to Easter again the mischievous spirit smirked as he propelled himself closer to his destination I wonder if he would find frozen eggs easier to paint.
"Go Go Go!" Bunny yells as he races down one of his various tunnels the eggs weren't headed down just yet. With a whoop and a holler he sticks the landing perfectly before leaping forward to stop the timer, "A whole tenth of a second faster!!" The shout seemed to echo throughout his burrow and into the Aussie forest beyond, but he knew most humans couldn't hear him. Bunny puffs out his chest in pure satisfaction as about 10 dozen eggs jump up and down to cheer him on as well right at his feet. He beams as he sinks down to scoop up a handful of his lovely creations, "Aw, thanks lil mates," He whispers gently before feeling the hairs on the back of his neck stand up with a sudden change in temperature. Bunny sighed deeply before turning around and seeing this damned frosty fool floating above him. "And just how long were ya spyin on me frosted tips?" Bunny growled playfully. Jack had his hand over his mouth stifling a variety of laughs,
"Enough to see how you need the eggs to be your cheerleader still!" Jack couldn't contain it and started laughing hysterically. Bunny swiftly hopped up and lightly punched the smaller spirit in the gut before he could even blink. Jack immediately sank to the ground but didn't stop laughing, his staff now resting just beside him on the lush green grass that was now slowly accumulating a gentle frost over it. Bunny shook his head,
"I gotta get a move on mate, Easter is in 122 days." He grumbled before extending his paw to help the laughing man up. Jack exhaled before swiftly flinging himself up as if he weighed a feather. Bunny forgot that Jack could effortlessly float around and command his body with ease, something the furry mammal could never understand or fully grasp. How did it work? Was he just light as a snowflake? Or was it the staff? Either way he knew if he asked Jack would play a trick on him or worse yet share his power to make the acrophobic mammal fly up and scare the wits out of him. Bunny knew the tricky spirit didn't need any more encouragement to make his life miserable. Jack waved his hand in front of Bunny's face,
"Hello? Earth to rabbit?" The smile on his face was synonymous with concern, something Bunny hadn't seen in a while. He stamped his foot, "See, you're already distractin me," Bunny huffed before hopping over to one of the numerous sorting tables in the burrow,
"I'm downright busy today mate so make whatever trick ya got quick," He cleared his throat before grabbing the clipboard he put down to take a break before hand and skimmed down to the last designs he just rolled out for his eggs. Jack sighed,
"I was gonna your expert opinion on somethin' Cottontail," He replies as he gently leans against the table, a small snowflake dangling off his right ear. Did he actually get a piercing? How do spirits even get piercings? Bunny shrugged off the thoughts and flipped his page to the next design,
"If it'll get you outta my fur, shoot," Bunny nods, eying the floaty spirit before him and noticing that the usual blue hoodie he was wearing was patched up and not as deeply worn as it had been previously. Jack nodded,
"You look so adorable focusing so hard on your lil eggs" The white haired man mocked and Bunny huffed,
"Can it you gnat," The furry mansized bunny retorted, "Out with it before I bowl you into next week like I did the other five times in a row." He smirked and watched as the weightless spirit's cheeks start to redden and not from his own temperature,
"Hey you work with tunnels and lanes all fuckin day pea brain!" Jack huffed before quickly shoving himself off the sorting table and planting his feet on the ground so he was eye level with the furred mammal, "For once let's try a real game!"
"Ah yeah?" Bunny replied then circled a design on his vast sheets of paper and showed the eggs, confirming they knew what basecoats to paint themselves in. He looked up and stared back at the frosty haired man, "Like what little mate?"
"Snowballs vs Eggs" He grinned a little too wide for Bunny's taste. The furry man's ears twitched,
"What? There's no comparison mate, one is a frozen ball of water and the other provides endless nourishment and happiness to humams around the globe." Bunny chuckles, "I'd just win yet again,"
"No no no, you misunderstand," Jack's grin holds and Bunny leans back a bit in his chair, inviting him to go on, "In 12 hours, who can make the most and highest quality of each?" Jack paused for a moment, "Like, I have to make perfectly round, smooth and fluffy snowballs and you have to make just simple easy designed eggs and see who can make the most in 12 hours!" The smaller spirit jumped up in excitement at his idea, waiting for Bunny's response. The furry rabbit thought for a moment, this could actually help him get ahead on the preparations and it would be amazing to see the look on Jack's face when he beat him. Bunny's eyes narrowed slightly before extending his front paw, "
Deal." He smirked.
