The Legend of Korra

Summary:

I decided to overhaul the legend of korra completely, make the story into something better.

Korra was only 16 when she discovered she was the avatar. At the time benders and non benders were at a civil war over bending itself. Benders believed non benders were lesser than them while non benders believed that benders were using their bending for bad. They said the 100 year war was an example of why bending should be banned all together. How will avatar solve problem? Will she be able to unite the two sides?

Chapter Text

Huffs echoed through the dimly lit room, in which korra and a man were facing off in a duel. The crowd sorrounded them, beating at the cage that enclosed the two, eager to see what would happen next. The man shifted his feet across the platform and sent a rapid stream of water, toward his apponent. Quick in her feet, Korra shifted to the left as the sharp stream of water zipped passed her face. She grinned. She used the momentum of the stream to send it right back at the man, and soon, blood trickled down man’s cheek. He hadn’t had enough time to dodge. This had never happened to him before. There was no way a teenage girl made him bleed. The man was, for a moment, stunned. Taking the opportunity of the man’s distraction korra knocked a stream of water towards the man. Not having enough time to react, the man fell off the platform and onto the snow. The crowd gasped. They hadn’t expected a teenage girl to win against a grown man, the forever champion, that was of course, until that moment. “So, where’s my money.” Korra grinned at the ‘referee’. He stared at her, stunned. Korra hummed as she watched the man’s face turn to anger. Korras eyebrow shifted upwards in confusion. “What? Butt hurt I won?” She new the man had bet on the apposing team.

The man gritted his teeth. “It was pure luck is what that was!” He yelled in anger. Korra frowned in frustration.

“Just give me the money old ma-“ before she could finish her sentence the doors were busted in. Many guards entered the place, grabbing everyone they could. Korras eyes widened, she took it as a hint to book it. She quickly jumped over the gap and grabbed onto the cage door. She quickly used her bending to get the door open and sprinted out of the place as soon as she had found an opening. A guard grabbed her by the arm and pulled her towards him with a grunt. Korra quickly acted in defense and knocked him on his knees with a swift knee to the stomach. He chocked out an oof as he hit the ground, quickly looking around for the girl he’d almost apprehended, But Korra was soon gone. “That was close, wasn’t it, girl?” Korra said to her very giant polar bear dog. They had gotten to a place high, but not to far away from town, in the mountains. Korra laughed. “Yes we only got out of there because of how fast you were naga. Good girl.” She said in a baby voice as she pet the furry giant. The polar bear dog huffed and barked in excitement. Korra laughed, “still bummed about the money though…” her smile turned to a small frown. Naga reacted to her change in mood and whined. “It’s ok girl, I’ll get over it… at some point” she sighed in disappointment. “How about we go get som-“

“Over there!” The two heard someone shout from a distance and soon, saw lights. Naga growled slightly as Korra squinted her eyes, soon realizing it was the guards from before. It seemed it was time to go. She quickly saddled up on naga and grabbed the saddle handles.

“Ya, Girl!” Naga responded instantly to the command. The polar bear dog ran as fast as her four paws could take her. The chase lasted a few minutes before they faced a pile of rocks blocking their path. Naga kept running, something in her instinct told the anima to do so. “Naga! What are you doing?!” As the rocks came closer, time seem to slow. In a panick, Korra extended her hands and lifted the rocks into the air with her bending. Her earth bending. Her earth bending? She was earth bending! After they had passed under the rocks they quickly collapsed back to their state. “What-“ Korra laughed in excitement “I bent earth! Naga-“ she laughed again, “I can’t belive it!” She grinned as the wind blew upon her face, making her feel even more alive, “IM THE AVATAR!” She screamed in excitement into the openness of the mountains.
