Chapter Text
Kaiser POV
The Neo Egoist League is over. Now I’m home. Currently, someone is banging on my front door so hard, it might break.
I know who it is, I mean there’s nobody else it could be. It’s Ness. One of the very many people I don’t want to interact with. As well as one of the most fucking persistent.
He’s been at my door for a few minutes now. Not to mention he’s been showing up daily as well. Does he ever get tired? No he doesn’t. At least, he doesn’t get tired of me. This was unfortunately something I never considered. You give a dog a treat, it comes back for more. I admit, I didn’t realise what exactly I was signing up for when I met him all those years ago.
This is embarrassing. My neighbours have probably noticed… they’ll start complaining if I don’t deal with him soon.
… Great. I stand up, huffing to myself, as I look around for some pants.
Eventually I found a pair, and now I’m standing in front of my door. He’s started only knocking every 30 seconds or so. Which means he’s losing hope again. However, I’d rather end this before he starts bothering my neighbours personally. I grab the handle of the door and swing it open.
On the other side is, of course, Alexis Ness. He was about to knock again, but he stopped in his tracks, lowering his fist. His eyes widened as he collected himself and met my eyes.
“Kaiser! Um..” Here we go. “About what happened, well I figured that we should just make up, I mean, it was all Yoichi’s fault anyway, and it was a one time mistake… It won’t happen again, I promise, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to pass to him, honestly, I thought if I made an impossible pass it would help you—” I’ve stopped listening.
“Shut up.” I narrowed my eyes. “… Fine… I forgive you. Happy?” He is useful. It would be better for me in the long run to just forgive him now.
His hopeful look faltered slightly, but he nodded anyway. He won’t push for an apology from me. He won’t try to make me say more. Like always, all he can do is accept what I give him. “Can I come in?”
Fuck no, my house is atrocious.
“I’m busy.” I’m not technically lying. I’m studying Blue Locks plays.
“With what? I can help.” I should’ve known.
“No you can’t.”
“But-“
“Tomorrow.”
His eyes lit up and he immediately nodded in agreement. How pathetic. “Alright… I’ll be over tomorrow then.” Great. Now I have to clean up.
I nodded before shutting the door in his face. Thank God that’s over. I took a deep breath, a little pang in my chest as I did. That’s been happening a bit recently. A result of training.
Ness POV
I didn’t exactly think that through properly. Well I mean I did, but as soon as I saw him, my mind blanked. I wasn’t expecting him to actually open the door... Hopefully I didn’t make things worse…
He looked upset. Maybe I annoyed him. Or maybe he’s still thinking about the game. Yeah. That’s it. He’s still upset over Yoichi… Not that that’s any better…
…
“… That went great.” I muttered to myself, taking long steps as I walked away, back to my own home. After a few moments I took my eyes off the ground. It’s a little windy, but it’s not cold and flowers are blooming basically everywhere.
Flowers… Roses... Kaiser.
Maybe I’ll take some photos to send him.
The next morning.
I know Kaiser’s sleep schedule. He’s probably still sleeping. But I’m already at his house… So…
After a bit of repetitive knocking, he finally came to the door, whipping it open. “… I’m going to kill you.”
“You have a nap schedule, you’ll be okay without your precious 20 more minutes.” I smiled, walking in without waiting for approval.
Everything is normal again...
About twenty minutes later, I’m in his kitchen, almost done cooking us breakfast while he does his weird morning rituals and puts some clothes on.
I’d say I’m a decent cook. It was never my mothers strong suit, so I learnt to cook basic things early on so I could eat things that didn’t taste like over-salted shit. Cooking is an interesting thing. I like experimenting with food. It’s like making a potion or something.
I set the plates down on the coffee table in the living room. Kaiser doesn’t see the need for a dining table, he says it’s a waste of space. In a way, I agree. He basically lives alone anyway.
Once he came back out, we started eating after a brief acknowledgment of each other’s presence. It was silent, but not awkward. Though… I couldn’t help noticing something.
“You’re pale.” I pointed out, my gaze running over him. I thought it yesterday, but I didn’t mention it. I thought it might be the lighting, or the fact I haven’t seen him in a while. But I trust I can remember what he looks like after barely two weeks of not talking.
“I’m always pale.” What a dumb man.
“Paler.” I huffed. “Are you sleeping enough?”
“You ask that after waking me up 20 minutes early.” This jackass! This is serious, he could be sick. I mean seriously who does he think he is? “I’m fine… Maybe I drank too much cola.” He muttered, glancing at a trashbag near the front door. Please don’t tell me that it's full of just cola…
“… I guess that makes sense. Tone it down then...” He nodded briefly in agreement. Now we’re back to silence.
His house has always felt more comfortable than my own. I’d stay for weeks if I could. Kaiser needs his space though. I’m lucky he let me stay the night sometimes.
Will he let me do that anymore?
Since Blue Lock, I’ve been a little anxious. Sure, everything seems normal, but is that the truth? Will I ever find out? I don’t want things to change. But I’ll change if it means pleasing him. If it means he’ll keep me around.
If it means he’s mine and I’m his. I’ll do anything. I think he knows that. Why else would he forgive me?
Well, it doesn’t matter why. What matters is he did. I’m his again.
