CHAPTER 1
After the last game of D&D, everyone left Hawkins to pursue their dream or studies in another place to start a new chapter, everyone but Mike… He decided to go to Hawkins’ University in literature to become an author while still living with his parents.
Ever since all his friends left Hawkins, Mike feels lonelier, emptier. He knows most of his friends aren’t that far, they even still talk over the phone sometimes, but it isn’t the same as before and Mike can’t really accept that.
When he feels sad, he likes to imagine El exploring the world and finally being free or he imagines his friends having fun in their college.
Unfortunately, it doesn’t always help and sometimes it makes him feel more hopeless. So to forget all his past, Mike studies all the time and write, write, write.
He always keeps a small notebook with him to write short stories or glimpse of future novels.
He buries his feelings and thoughts in this notebook…and one of the feeling that lingers the most in his heart is…longing and guilt. However, he buries these feelings deeply.
He doesn’t want to write about it, he doesn’t want to face this feeling because he doesn’t understand it…he doesn’t understand why it’s not targeted towards El, he doesn’t understand why it’s targeted towards Will.
