location → court house
“-and that proves that he is innocent, thank you, your Honor.”
“Prosecution, do you have any more to say to the court?”
“Yes, we’ve gotten new information that proves Mr. Sato is in fact guilty.”
Standing up you announced to the courtroom about how the extra evidence was found. “..the police recently found this evidence.” Approaching the judge you presented text conversations of the defendant and his team. While Mikasa turned to displaying the evidence on the tv screen for the rest of the courtroom to see.
“I present the court with evidence of the defendant not only planning the event but also confirming it was completed” the defendant’s face drops and twists in anger. “This is fake news! I never sent those messages-”
“I also present the court with the defendant's phone that was found three streets away from the crime scene that shares these same texts.” The defense turns to their defendant scrambling on a way to counter back but stay quiet. “Quiet!” The judge settles down the room and states the jury will discuss and will bring us back once they come up with a verdict.
Getting up with your team you walk out the courtroom to get some fresh air. “Hey! Hey! Y/N, I know you hear me!” you turn slightly to see the defense attorney Floch eagerly walking to you with a smug face.
“What?” gosh why won't he take a hint..
“That was a pretty smart move back there.. you’re very resourceful as always..” he says looking you up and down smirking. You stare back at him with a blank expression already done with his antics. Floch, a self absorbed prick and a lawyer whose firm often crossed paths. He’s so annoying
“Right…well I’m going to head to my team” you replied quickly. Floch decided to ignore this message and moved closer to you only to be stopped.
“Move.” Onyankopon stated as he stared with annoyance in Floch’s surprised eyes, stepping in front of me. “Ah Onyankopon! Great to see you here. I’m guessing you found that extra evidence for the case?” He started moving back a little “Such a good detective you are. It’s not fair!” he said, mocking the man before him.
“Back up.” Onyankopon said harsher this time. Looking between the men I rolled my eyes, getting frustrated. “Onni-” you started but was interrupted.
“Courts are back in session-” Mikasa stated walking up to her co-worker and closest friend. Floch flinched and moved back. “Ah I guess I have to go!” Floch started sighing before he walked into the courtroom. Onyankopon nodded at you signaling he was to see you later. Before you could even say thank you he was walking out the courtroom.
“What was that about?” Mikasa said, referring to the scene between you and Onyankopon. “Ah you know he’s always protective of me..” Mikasa tilted her head looking to the side with her arms crossed. “You guys are-” “Mikasa courtroom remember!”
Settling back into the courtroom, the judge stated the jury had come to a conclusion. Watching the foreperson make their way to state the verdict, I noticed Floch staring at me instead. Ugh he’s such a creep
“We find the defendant guilty of all charges.”
“The defendant has been found guilty!” stated the judge and ended the case, dismissing us shortly after.
We won again. Smiling to my team I helped back my things while Reiner filled me in for the rest of the day. “y/n Erwin wants us back at homebase, it’s urgent apparently” nodding I gather my things ignoring Floch’s stares for the third time today.

location → At ESF (E. Smith Firm)
Mikasa follows me to Erwin’s office. “What do you think it’s about?” she asked me as we were waiting in the elevator. “Mhm not sure, you know how Erwin is” you replied, which caused you both to giggle. Finally arriving at his office we knock then head in after hearing Erwin instruct us to come in.
“Ah yes, glad you guys finally arrived.” he stated, gesturing to the rest of the people in the room. Levi stared at me with his normal face. Classic Levi. Annie sat alone scrolling on her phone while Reiner, Sasha and Connie talked amongst themself.
“Now that you guys are all here and can discuss the issue with you all.” Erwin stated, “We have a new case. This one is somewhat personal to me so I need it to be done correctly.”
“It’s a financial fraud issue for an environmental compliance company. A former employee claims that the company falsified data on their latest project to get investors and save money. Now the environmental company claims that this isn’t true and that there must be mole planting information.” Levi continued after Erwin.
“We’ll meet with the company tomorrow morning to gather more information. This case is a high priority due to the company's projects and investors. We’re going against.. Ksaver Inc. for this case we have to be very thorough.” Zeke’s company.. a tough opponent, finally
“-with this case being so big.. we’re deciding to join with another company to make sure that we get a clean sweep.” This peaked your interest slightly, while you mingled with people well the thought of sharing this case wasn’t that exciting. “and that being said we’ll be working with HLG.”
Our rival company? But why.. “Why would we work with them?” Reiner asked, “I know it’s odd for rivals to join together but this is a special case please comply” Erwin said with a stern voice. “Members from their company are already here waiting for us. Head down to CR 3.” Everyone nodded and started walking there.
“Y/N wait.” Erwin said before you walked out. Turning around you walked over to him ready to hear what he had to say. “What is it-” you started to say before he cut you off.
“As you know, you're our star lawyer. I can always count on you but as you know we’ll be working with HLG. That means you’ll also have to work with their top lawyer.” you nodded, “I’m not sure if you’re aware of who it is but I hear he’s as good as you.” you tilted your head intrigued.
“His name is…” Erwin started before looking down at some papers. “Armin. Armin Artlert. Apparently you both went to the same college. Did you know him?”
Armin.. You ignored your thoughts and lied. “I might’ve but it's been a few years”, you started laughing it off which Erwin found amusing.
“Right. Meet with the rest of the team. I’ll be there in a few.” you said goodbye and headed off to the room. Armin? Last I heard he was with NNEW company. I haven’t seen him in so long. I don’t-
“Yeah she should be here soon!” you heard Sasha say excitedly to someone. “Oh great..” a voice replied back with a hint of amusement? Walking to the door you opened it eager to see if it was truly him only to be met with someone's back.
“Oh sor-” you said, almost running into them. The person turned around as you started to look up slightly to see him smiling at you with those pearly white teeth.
“y/n.”
Armin said softly as he continued to smile at you. You stepped back awkwardly but stood firm. “Hi Armin..”
Shit.
