It Takes Two To Make One

Summary:

Morning sickness is not something Miorine suspected to wake up with. Then again it's not like her and Suletta took any protective measures as of late.

Notes:

It would have been great if we got a movie with domestic fluff and these two just being down bad for each other.

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Suletta literally couldn't have asked for a better, happier life than what she currently had. She had a smart, beautiful and cuter than anything wife, she had an awesome sister, a nice house, an era of peace. Everything she could have ever asked for and more. So where was her perfect wife? Why wasn’t she under Suletta’s arm when the ex-pilot turned in her bed and tried to hug her?

She frowned a little, blinking her sleepy eyes open. Indeed, Miorine wasn’t here but it wasn’t that unusual for the CEO to be up very early in the morning.

Before she could call out to her she heard the distinct sound of vomiting coming from the bathroom. “Miorine?” She heard it again, followed by heavy breathing, dry heaving. “Miorine?!” Suletta threw the covers off and quickly grabbed a shirt and her briefs, just in time for Miorine to walk out of the bathroom.

The two women stared at each other, one confused and worried, the other clearly just done throwing up.

Miorine crossed the distance between them and shoved a pregnancy test right in front of Suletta. “Suletta, I’m pregnant.”

The redhead blinked at the test, took it from Miorine and was silent. She blinked, then looked at her wife, who looked back at her expectedly, her slightly stern look back on her face. “You are? How?!”

Miorine crossed her arms, “Well, I seem to remember a certain someone literally begging to finish inside of-“

“Mio! Alright, yes, I know how babies are made but- you know! We didn’t really… that was just dirty talk and we haven’t really talked about having kids!” Hearing her wife panic about this a feeling of sadness started to creep into Miorine’s mind. She didn’t expect Suletta to react like this.

The Mercurian was great with kids, so she figured that having one of their own, even if not planned, would be a happy thing.

Gingerly she placed a hand over her stomach, “Do you… not want it?”

“I… well of course I do. It’s just that… I’m not sure if I can… you’re perfect Miorine, you’re great at everything you put your mind to, I’m sure you’ll be a great mom too! And I’m just an ex-pilot who didn’t even have a real mom. I’m not sure if I know how to be a parent.” Suletta sat on the edge of the bed, her hands and fingers anxiously clutching at the sheets, constantly fidgeting and avoiding Miorine’s eyes.

“Suletta neither of us exactly had great parental figures to look up to. But lack of knowledge or the odds being stacked against us never stopped us before, has it?” She took hold of Suletta’s hand, still bigger and rougher than hers, and pressed it against her belly. “I’m scared and nervous too, I want to do this, but only if you want it as well.”

“There’s really a little baby in there?” Suletta asked, face softening.

“Well, not a baby yet. It needs to grow into one.” Miorine felt Suletta’s hand pressing a bit firmer, the warmth of her palm seeping through the shirt.

Suddenly, Suletta pulled her into a hug, her head pressing against Miorine’s belly, “Miorine, you’re pregnant.”

“Yes, that’s the news.” She chuckled as she ran her hands through Miorine’s hair. “I hope our baby has your hair.”

“And your smarts. It’s gonna be the best baby ever. With slightly messed up moms.” They were still attending therapy here and there when things got too much. At least they knew they weren’t alone, and that they never had to go through these things alone. They had each other.

They could do this.
