An Army of Girls a Day, Keeps DJ Away (Too Bad Superfish is a Stalker That Always Follows)

Summary:

In which, a fight is delayed for a moments notice and Superfish takes his chances at bothering a human.

DJ has to stop zoning out to think over Superfish's appearance... And whenever or not he was attractive. Maybe that would save him the aggravation.

Notes:

I was free balling with the title.

This Webtoon officially has me in a choke hold, so I'm writing about them (. ❛ ᴗ ❛.)

In terms of canon, this takes place in episode 9.

Work Text:

The swarm of girls flocked Superfish each vying for his attention, by squealing. DJ stopped walking, staring and the scene with nothing short of dread and annoyance.

Those girls were acting like they had never seen another guy before. Even if he hadn't joined the occult, or how people in his school like the call it, the freaks and werido club, he'd never be that popular. So how Superfish dealt with all that, was beyond his comprehension.

Oh, who was he kidding Superfish—Sebastian? DJ couldn't help but switching between the name sometimes for as weird as they were—feasted on the attention. DJ has never seen anyone be more of the exact definition of flamboyant, though, he supposes Superfish did have his reasons.

From the unfortunate moment that they met, DJ was unlucky enough to supposedly be the only human who had to see Superfish practically naked—with only a pink towel wrapped around his lower form—as he was dangled in the air by his collar. But recalling on the time, he it was very apparent that Superfish was well toned.

Though it may not be shown to the girls crowding Superfish—which he's extremely thankful for, the less ,"he's mine", down bad girl glaring at him whenever DJ and Superfish interacted—he still had other qualities, that understandably deemed him attractive.

Tilting his head, even from a distance is was clear that Superfish was tall, showcased himself with nothing other than pride, and—while it pains DJ to admit the confidence topped with his abnormal features and dressing actually gave him undeniable presence—…handsome.

Handsome till his shit personality and tacky lines reminds him how much of an annoyance Superfish is.

"Hey DJ," Raising his head, Superfish did his signature 'smile', sharp yet charming, his voice perfectly on par with that. "Good mourning!"

DJ nearly jumped in place, realizing that he had been staring to long.

All the girls around Superfish, twisted their head in DJ's direction with a temporary curiosity, quickly replaced by hostility. All the while Superfish remained unaffected and continued to wave.

Quickly, deciding that the risk of lingering around and interacting wasn't worth it, DJ spun on his heels and twisted his bike towards the opposite direction. Thankfully enough there was a tree, just big enough to hide away from their line if sight.

DJ quickly shuffled over, regaining his sense of safety and security once they could no longer see him. He was crouched down, just to really assure himself he couldn't be seen, a hand on his bike for stability as he took a heavy exhale.

He stayed in that position with his hand hanged low for a minute, before deciding to take his chance and peering over the edge of the tree. The squealing had gotten quiet, if not just stopped overall, and looking over, DJ could see that Superfish stopped talking.

The girls shuffled to the side, but there was a loud string of groan and pleading that DJ could even hear from where he was positioned. Superfish appeared to remain unaffected by it, walking past the crowd without much of a second glance. It took him a while longer after peaking intently at the scene, that he realized Superfish was heading in his direction.

At that moment DJ decided that it was his time to skedaddle—really hoping to avoid an interaction with him, especially after last night—but when he blinked, the next second Superfish was gone and the crowd dispersed. DJ forced himself to do a double take, just to make sure he wasn't going insane. He leaned in closer on the tree and head sticking further out as he looked around on both sides.

Where did he go?

A subtle rustle alerted DJ from the top of the tree, but before he had the chance to check or dismiss it as a squirrel, a cool and soft wind blew at the back of his neck. It sent shivers throughout his body and before DJ even had the chance fully turn his body,

"Boo."

DJ took a sharp breath, as he fell flat on his ass, his back hitting against the tire of his bike in his panic. "How did you-! When did you-! You can't just sneak up on people like that!" He clutched his chest, pointing an accusing finger towards his perpetrator, who, surprise, surprise, turned out to be none other than Superfish.

Superfish, per usual, gave no impression of caring about DJ words—the teasing smirk on his face only seeming to get bigger.

The nerve…

DJ hurriedly propped himself back up, the dull ache in his back quickly wearing off. It was only then, when he looked slightly down to scold a typically taller man, that he noticed there was were clearly something off about this scene.

"…Did you use magic to get in the tree." It wasn't even much of a question because DJ already knew the answer to it.

At this point Superfish had raised himself, up enough—so that his feet were covered by the leaves—that any on looker would presume that he was hanging onto the tree by his feet. DJ, closer up, could clearly tell that that wasn't the case, and the faint glow surrounding Superfish's feet only confirmed his suspicions.

While most of his hair was pulled down by the force of gravity, some hanged closer to his face that it should have. His eyelids were lowered and he was absolutely unaffected by the unnatural position that he had put himself in, maintaining that composed and chill appearance.

"Yeah. But I was reeaal discreet with it." Superfish cocked his head to the side, an action that screamed nothing short of arrogance and smirked. "Promise."

DJ huffed, squeezing his eyes shut and rubbing the tip of his nose, right between his eyes. "Get down. I can't take you seriously like that."

Superfish, not so secretly, floated back into the tree, hidden by the lush behind the lush leaves. Not long after, he dropped back down—feet first this time around, hitting the ground without a sound. He fell back and leaned on the tree—DJ bike suddenly, conveniently moved out of the way—with his hands loosely slid in his pockets.

Superfish didn't say a word, but the way that he gazed at DJ in an expectant way, made it clear what he was waiting for next.

DJ spoke through a fake smile. "Didn't we make a deal that you wouldn't use magic in public unless completely necessary." He shot his arms out, tensing his fingers.

"Yes but," Superfish dragged the word, twisting head, and taking a hand out of his pocket to gesture towards DJ. "I also need to keep you safe and out of trouble."

By the end of it, Superfish's voice grew grim, making DJ watch him with hesitation. His nightmare last night was the first thought that came to his mind, only adding more unease to settle in his stomach.

"And I do think that you trying to run and hide out of my sight does warrant me to stay close and ensure your safety." Once Superfish had spoke again, it was like a flip had switched. He was back to that cocky annoying bastard, with an ego high enough to get hin to the moon.

"I HID because your swarm of girls staring glaring at me the moment YOU interacted!"

"That odd." Superfish's eyes rolled to the side, and he placed his hand on his pumped chest. "They were all very kind to me." He looked back toward DJ with mockery.

Don't get mad. He's an asshole whose messing with you. The last thing you need is for harassed by the girls for attacking "their man."

DJ stared at him with shaky toothless smile, and blank eyes. As he took a deep breath in, he could feel his eye twitch while the long string on offensive things he wanted to say played in his mind. "Well, I don't think that hiding behind a tree and scaring me—"

"Terrifying would be more accurate."

"—IS a necessary use of magic. Especially in a crowded area."

Superfish pauses for a minute, as he looked to be in thought. "Well, then, human. Do tell, " He stopped, giving himself to turn his head in downwards and cock one of his eyebrows. "Where did your little mind drift off too while staring at me with such curiosity?"

"I— That doesn't have anything to do with what we were talking about at all!" A subtle blush rose on DJ at the mention of before, and the reminder of what he thought. He'd rather be caught dead then admit to Superfish that he thought he was attractive.

Unluckily for DJ, Superfish takes his lack of denial for the statement as confirmation. "So you were looking at me earlier." Superfish's eyes take on a dangerous gleam, and the smile of his face reeked of mischief. "Interesting."

"Just— stop." DJ sticks his hand up, to cover Superfish's expressions from his line of sight. "…This doesn't matter. Can we please focus main issue present?"

"Which is?"

DJ swiftly opened his mouth to answer, but Superfish happened to be a little faster, and interrupted him.

"Then, if you weren't staring at me, as your trying to make it seem, were you looking at one of the girls instead?"

DJ hesitated, taking a second to actual process to question sent to him. Once it fully hit him,

"Oh- No." DJ stated blantently, a hint of aversion even slipping into his words and becoming clear on his face.

"What a reaction." Superfish feigned surprise. "May I ask why, DJ?"

DJ rested his cheek on his hand, slightly turning his head and rolling his eyes over down to the ground. As it the reason wasn't obvious...

He sighed, and despite this DJ continued to answer. "I'm sure they're all… lovely girls." If you happened to be Superfish or anyone they deemed cool and attractive. "But, just, not exactly my type."

"Then what is your type?" Superfish asked, seeming completely genuine this time around.

DJ took a minute to think about it.

Raising his head and looking away, honestly, DJ can't be a hundred percent sure. In high school, he certainly hasn't had much of a crush on anyone, thinking back on it. He can vaguely recall finding a few people that stood out to his as appealing. But any 'dreams' of falling in love and running away into the sunset were easily off putted what exact club that he's in, and how little time he even has outside of school to purse such ideas.

His eyes found his way forward, towards Superfish. Examining him again, there was definitely a chance that Superfish was closest to DJ's type on first glance. Most things about him surpassed humanly expectation—the simmer of sun that sparkled in his eyes, his stylish blue hair that DJ has yet to see another person pull off, the refined kind of cocky that he was…

But once you get to know the person, it isn't exactly the same anymore. And as if he'd every hear DJ utter this about him, ever.

"And there your brain goes again." Superfish pokes his bandaged finger against DJ temple, snapping him out of his stupor.

With ease, he pushed himself off of the tree and took steps closer to DJ but it was off to his side.

"Well I suppose there's not much else I can get out of this talk, hm? I suppose I could leave you alone for the time being, while I figure out this mess you put us in." DJ was quick to open his mouth to protest—there was no way that this was entirely his fault—but before he could get a word out Superfish, from his side, managed to circle behind DJ and cover DJ face with his hand.

Leaning in close to his ear, Superfish spoke in a low flowy tone.

"See you in class. DJ."

By the time his hand left DJ face, he was already multiple strides away—a line of sparks trailing him—back out into the open where the girls started back up to huddle and praise his every move.

His aura oozing with poise and command. Command of the girls that flocked with him. Command over his magic. Command over DJ life whenever he decided to be a stalker.

Command of when this nightmare would finally be over.

…He really should have just let Georgie go in that day. Would have saved him a lot of trouble.

While walking away, Superfish twisted his head back and gave DJ a wink with his signature peace sign combo.

…And whatever frustration only a guy with an idiotic name, called Superfish seems to be able to rise out of him.

Notes:

Idk were I was going with this. I kinda just wanted to drag out their character interactions.

And why tf doesn't Superfish actual do unique stuff instead of spamming the same expression and movements??? It was actual agony to figure out what I wanted this bum to do. 🫩 /hj
