Work Text:

Mizi could still feel his neck between her hands. How easy he had been to hurt, how quickly he fell to the ground when she choked him. His face covered in blood.

No one had expected the "bubbly pink girl" to attack Alien Stage's champion in such a brutal manner, no one had expected her to be capable to hurt others at all. No one, of course, but she - who knew what a violent creature Mizi could be.

That should have been it. With her hands pinned behind her back as she squirmed and shouted in overwhelming rage.

The gun directly aimed at her head, threatening to fire.

Just as it had shot her.

It was safe to say that things didn't go according to plan.

Mizi sat, hunched over, on a creaky bunk bed in a place too unfamiliar to her. The walls were bare and the ground was full of discarded items and rubbish, there was no order to this strange place. Almost like the only life that lived there was chaos.

Which, seemingly, there was chaos personified under the battered roof. The other humans there, that had "rescued" her from the stage. The whole memory seemed blurry to Mizi, she couldn't place exactly when the gun was tossed aside, or how she was carried away from the wretched stage she was sure she'd die on.

That being said, she hadn't had a clear thought since she heard the chilling thud of Sua hitting the floor. Eyes devoid of a spark. Cold sweat dripping down her pale cheeks. Blood oozing from her throat. A bitter smile pressed to her mouth.

Was she smiling? Mizi blinked with uncertainty. It seemed unlikely. But Mizi had always watched when Sua practiced smiling as a child.

After injecting herself with needles to teach herself to embrace the feeling of a bullet.

Mizi didn't even realize she was crying until she heard her door creak and was forced to wipe her tears away.

"Hey." The tall woman who had "saved" her called softly through the door. "You keeping up okay?"

Mizi only sniffed in response. Hyuna hadn't been the easiest to get along with at first. Perhaps if they had met sooner it wouldn't have taken as long for Mizi to warm up to her.

Hyuna was rash, unpredictable, a definite "wild card" personality that Mizi was almost unfamiliar with. Her character could be likened to Till's if you really stripped them to the core, though he was always a lot shyer when Mizi was around.

Till. Her mind snapped violently back to the situation at hand. He and Ivan were next in line to compete, weren't they? She bit her lip, she had been so caught up in her own distress she hadn't even thought of them. Guilt tugged her stringed heart as it often did, another consequence of her selfish nature.

"Do you mind if I sit?" Hyuna raised an eyebrow.

Mizi nodded a reply.

Hyuna sighed and gently closed the door behind her, striding over to Mizi's bottom bunk, and hesitantly taking a seat beside her.

"You're gonna need to talk to me, Mizi." Hyuna furrowed her brow, though her empathetic feelings didn't escape her gaze.

Mizi avoided any sort of eye contact with her. Despite the fact Hyuna had been nothing but good to her, she couldn't ever get her mind off of that stage - off of Sua. "I'm sorry... It's just... been difficult taking in everything after being on the stage."

Hyuna let out an understanding, sad chuckle. "Can't say I blame you for that." She placed a reassuring hand on the younger girl's back. "But I need to know if you're ready for our next move."

Mizi paused. "What do you mean 'next move' ? "

"Your absence has caused a delay in the rounds. That's gave us a little more time to prepare for the next round. You say you're close with the next contestants as well?"

"They're my family too." The blunt statement escaped before she could comprehend what they were saying.

Hyuna blinked, an almost enamoured smile gracing her lips. "Well, we have the chance to help them as well. We can save everyone if we're fast enough. I mean, we can guarantee a way back home. To earth."

Mizi felt irritation boil inside of her. It wasn't as if she didn't know about this rebellion she had somehow been brought into. And what was this home she was being promised? It wasn't like she had ever been there, nor would it ever feel like one without...

She pushed the negative emotion down though, and offered the older woman a tired beam.

"You mean that?"

"Yeah. It would be incredible if you were part of it all." Hyuna stood up, stretching as she balanced on her prosthetic leg. "Give it a think over. We plan it all tonight. As of now though...? I'll be at the bar."

Mizi raised an eyebrow. "Doing what exactly...?"

"We caught one of those aliens, calls for a celebration doesn't it? If you want to hear me sing you're free to come along."

Hyuna flashed a grin and winked at the new rebel, which flustered her as she turned away with an embarrassed expression.

"No... Thank you. I'm fine here." Mizi murmured.

"Your loss, kid. Not to brag, but I've been told I have the best vocals around."

Hyuna had practically swaggered to the door, which left Mizi alone once more. She couldn't have been more greatful.

She groaned , lying horizontally on the bed. She couldn't bear hearing another song again.

Out of the corner of her eye, she spotted something she could have swore wasn't there before.

Nervous excitement leapt in her stomach, and she pounced off the bunk towards it. From the light of the window that ran along the very top of the room, just below the ceiling : A silhouette of some sorts was teasing her, begging her to take a step forwards.

It was a small figure, dainty in all it's beauty. And it was there, against the wall opposite the window.

Mizi staggered closer to it, blinking several times and tracing it's shape.

Fragile.
Delicate.
Just like a doll.

...But it wasn't.

And it couldn't be.

Mizi glanced back towards the window, and it was - as she had thought - just the outline of some conviently grown plants.

She let her eyes flutter shut, and decided that she would ignore all logic. She faced the silhouette again. It was hazier than before.

"Hello, dear." She murmured.

Her mind started to fill in the blanks : dark shadow became white fabric, bricks became soft skin.

"You sounded heavenly on that stage."

What else was there to say?

Mizi bit her lip. Feeling pain run feral around her already torn heart.

"I... really liked singing with you." Her voice wavered. "Even if for only a little while."

Once more, she could feel tears trickle down her already reddened face.

"Sua... I... I'm sorry." She whimpered. "I'm so... so sorry."

Despite all her resentment, all her anger towards her lover - She could not ever hate her angel.

Self-loathing abounded within the girl's soul, it didn't make any sense for her to be alive. Sua was in all ways perfect, and Mizi was the devil that she had fallen in love with.

If only angels were not selfish creatures, Mizi would have died on that stage. But after everything that Mizi had put her through, the least she could do was let her sacrifice herself.

At least Sua could die with her conscience clean and pure, just the way Mizi would imagine her when they once held eachother.

Those quiet nights of gentle laughing, with Sua in her arms. It had always felt good to have that control over someone. Knowing that Mizi could have hurt her, but had chosen to abstain from her violent nature in those moments.

But it was the way in which she had been able to fool Sua so easily that kept Mizi up at night. The fact that the older girl would choose to rest beside her thinking she was an innocent creature. She couldn't handle that shame.

The silhouette was faded now. Mizi knew it never once did resemble who she longed to see. Yet maybe it was worth some childish pretence.

She liked Hyuna. She really did. Hyuna was kind to her, Hyuna had saved her.

But she wasn't Sua.

And all Mizi had wanted was to join her.

Just her luck.

Notes:

Happy new Yuri guys!
This fic came to me in a dream a while ago, but I thought i'd post it just because I haven't wrote a fic this year yet.

Not sure this is my best work but I would LOVE more content of Rebel Mizi and ofc this was another opportunity for me to write my favorite yearners again sigh...

I have a lot of fic ideas lined up for this year. I want to write more multi chapter fics again like "See You Tomorrow" (my favorite of my fics lol) but until I think of a longform idea I do have a few ALNST one shots and maybe some more PJSK fics (Mizuena and Shizumafu angst mwahah) and ofc maybe some Deltarune if anyone would be interested in those.

Wow holy Yapfest, anyways constructive criticism and interactions are always greatly appreciated! Have a great day/night everybody! ^^
