The Final Adventure

Summary:

Maybe he can find the article, print it out, and leave it casually on the dining table for Asahi. And then casually mention their own metaphorical marriage. Casually.

As if Yuu has ever been casual in his life, fuck.

- - -

Or, Nishinoya wants to propose to Asahi after learning that it’s legal for them to be married in Thailand.

Notes:

Hiiii. Long time no see uhhh I suddenly had a stroke of inspiration but don’t expect it to last.

I just randomly remembered that Thailand legalized same-sex marriage last year and my only thought was what if Noya learned about that while in Thailand… And then it derailed and became this instead.

I love asanoya and there’s never enough so for all 5 other people who also love these two babies, may I present my best attempt at capturing them 🙂‍↕️

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Nishinoya Yuu is on his way home from Seoul, South Korea when he reads the article. Or, more accurately, he’s in the airport about twenty minutes to boarding when he reads it. Almost just as soon as he sees the headline, Yuu is already queuing up a call with Asahi, almost vibrating in his seat.

Just before he hits the call button, though, he pauses.

What if Asahi hasn’t seen the article yet? He’s likely still asleep. They’ve been in the same time zone this trip - a quick jaunt around Asia for two months - making it far easier to contact and therefore easier for Yuu to let him sleep at regular hours. It’s 4:35 in the morning, his flight is max three hours, and he’s catching a train to their apartment this time since Asahi has a huge project he’s been working on (which he has told Yuu next to nothing about, only making the man all the more excited to go home and see it). That means Asahi will be up in about 40 minutes, make his daily toast and white rice before probably just catching the train to his studio, as he does every morning...

That means there’s little to no chance Asahi sees the article before he’s home! So Yuu can surprise him later in person and see his reaction in real time and-

Yuu swaps the contact to “Ryu 🐉😝” and hits call without another thought. Mostly because he still needs to share his excitement with someone and also because a sudden thought has sprung to the forefront of his brain and if doesn’t tell Ryu right now he may just explode.

“Yuu?” A groggy, rough voice answers after just three rings. Oh, right. Yuu has a moment to think to himself, He was sleeping... Oh Well!

“Ryu! Have you seen the news?” Yuu is essentially jumping in his seat, careful to keep his voice down amidst the sleepy travelers around him, but unable to hide the excitement in his tone.

There’s some obvious rustling on the other line, likely Ryu leaving his shared room with Kiyko to take the call elsewhere. What a considerate husband. Ugh, husband! “Babe, darling, light of my fucking life, it’s... 4am?! Yuu! Obviously I haven’t seen the fucking news, I’m barely awake as it is, why the hell are you calling me right now?”

“Put me on speaker and search ‘Thailand’ on the news tab, right the fuck now! I promise it’s exciting and important. Or well, to me. It’s important to me and I’m important to you, so you should definitely find this just as important-”

“Alright, alright, holy shit.” Ryu cuts him off with a rough laugh, the sleep still just leaving his voice. If it were anyone else, Yuu might have felt a little bad for waking him up so early, but it’s Ryu and the man would be up in an hour anyway and also this is important, so- “Slow down, I’m searching.”

There’s a tense moment where Yuu just listens to Ryu muttering to himself as he types into whatever news app he uses (probably just Google, honestly, the man rarely gives a shit about the news). Yuu feels like his entire body is vibrating with excitement and also a little bit of nerves because as soon as Ryu sees the news, Yuu knows what he’ll say next and it’s been years of planning but now it might be legally a reality and-

“Holy shit!” Ryu exclaims, causing Yuu to jump a little as he was just getting lost in his own spiral of thoughts. “That’s! Oh my god! Since when, and what the- Oh the whole team is going to need to hear about this-”

Ryu still refers to their little Karasuno group of friends from Volleyball during their second and third years as “the team,” which is really cute and all but they are not who Yuu wants to talk about.

Well, one of them is.

Yuu takes a deep breath, ignoring the continued mutterings of his best friend on the other line - something about telling Kiyoko in that moment, which he definitely needs to put an end to, she needs her beauty sleep, for sure - before he drops his own exciting news in light of the international one-

“I’m gonna propose.”

The line goes painfully quiet for a moment.

“...to Asahi. Obviously. As if that weren’t obvious, who else would I propose to, haha,” Yuu continues after a moment, finding the silence to be a little too stifling in that moment. He’s meant to be excited. He is excited! But holy shit Ryu still hasn’t said anything and oh god what if he already woke Kiyoko up and now she knows too before he even has anything planned-

“-Yuu. Yuu! Nishinoya Yuu!” The voice in his ear finally registers. Oh he zoned out. Or well, everything went fuzzy for a second, whatever.

“Yes?”

“You’re what now?! Thailand makes same-sex marriage legal for-” there’s a rustle that indicates that Ryu took him off speaker but is now double checking his facts, “all of twenty goddamn minutes and you’re proposing? To Asahi? We’re not Thai, dude, how the shit is that going to work? But actually I don’t care, I’m so excited and happy for you and when are we going to do it and is the plan the same as it always has been? With the roses and the sewing and- oh shit! What do you need from me again-”

“Ryu!” The tension eases as Yuu laughs. Leave it to Ryu to be just as nervous and excited about this as Yuu is. The same happened when he told Yuu that he was proposing to Kiyoko, except reversed of course. He shouldn’t have expected anything different. “I don’t have any plans, bro. What we came up with years ago is kind of, uh not really ideal anymore...”

The balloons and roses and learning-how-to-sew-a-suit-to-impress-Asahi plans aren’t really going to cut it now that they’re not 21 anymore. He also doesn’t have the patience for that right now.

“I just... It was always a plan. Even if it isn’t like, legally an option or whatever, Asahi has always been it for me. Not that I have to remind you, you know that. I just thought, with the news and shit, that maybe I’d... I don’t know, bring it up to him now. Actually! Did you know in Korea everybody has couple rings?”

“Switch of topic, alright, we’ll come back to that uh. No, and also I don’t actually believe you. There’s no way ‘everyone’ has couple rings.” Yuu rolls his eyes at the mockery. He can hear the air quotes in the other man’s voice. “And no, I don’t believe whatever that shady guy at the gay bar told you.”

Yuu is a little baffled. He hears a loud noise behind him and pauses for a second, checking that - oh, yep. He has to board his flight now. “How’d you know it was a gay bar guy?”

While Yuu gathers his things, he shoves his phone between his ear and shoulder and hears Ryu laugh. “Of course it was! It always is. The most dramatic shit you learn overseas is always from a ‘gay bar guy,’ as you put it. What does the couple rings have to do with- Oh. Shit! You didn’t!”

“I did!” The line to the plane is short, and Yuu’s exclamation is quickly met with a scattering of glares. Whatever. “I have to board now, but I’ll text you when I get plane wifi. I was already going to give Asahi the couple's ring for a late birthday gift, slash sort of anniversary gift, but now! Ahhh I can’t wait to be home. Bye!”

Without waiting for a reply, Yuu drops the phone from his shoulder and ends the call. He has a lot of planning to do on his short plane ride, and no amount of lack-of-sleep or litany of what-if’s are going to burst his bubble of excitement right now.

Yuu settles into his seat quickly, sending a quick “Boarded! See you later 🥰 😽” to Asahi and ignoring the long string of texts from Ryu. Yuu work to do.

News Article from January 23rd, 2025:

Thailand same-sex marriage law takes effect: "Every love is the same"

—-

After some extensive research (three quick google searches and a slow-going wikipedia page read through), Yuu determines that yes, they can get married in Thailand without becoming citizens of the country first. There’s some legal bullshit they have to do first, and it won’t be recognized by Japan still, but by some law in some place they can be legally husbands and that’s enough to fuel an emotional high for the rest of his flight.

He continues building up the idea. Like what flowers, or colors, or who to invite, if their suits would match, if he can convince Asahi to leave the designing up to his friends at his fancy studio to relax or if he’ll want to make them anyway, oh maybe Yuu can help, and, if his sisters would be able to join maybe they can -

He needs to breathe. There’s no use getting too hopeful, Asahi hadn’t even said yes yet! Yuu hasn’t asked! Although it’s really really easy to get swept into the idea of it and all…

He and Asahi are going to live happily-ever-after one way or another. Obviously.

But seriously,  how is he going to convince all his friends to take a trip to Thailand, or-

The plane lands abruptly (to Yuu, anyway), the lurching of it pulling him forward with an umph. Not the roughest landing, but being lost in his thoughts, Yuu wasn’t as prepared to hit the ground as he typically is.

With the slow crawl of the plane to the gate, and the pilot’s typical drawl of a speech or whatever, the excitement seems to double within Yuu.

Just an hour more of a train ride and he’ll be home in his and Asahi’s apartment. And then another two hours and Asahi will be home in their apartment.

Oh god he barely has a plan together, even with the two hours or so he was able to lock in during the flight. He tried to scribble anything that came to mind on a notepad he had with him, but the turbulence of the plane and his already unsteady scrawl makes the words illegible even to him.

Maybe he can find the article, print it out, and leave it casually on the dining table for Asahi. And then casually mention their own metaphorical marriage. Casually.

As if Yuu has ever been casual in his life, fuck.

It’s fine, one step at a time. First, clutching the box containing the couple rings from Korea in his hand, he just has to get home.

---

It takes nearly as long on the train systems of Tokyo to get home from the HND airport as it did to get to Japan from Seoul. About thirty minutes into the first bullet train, Yuu received a notification that his local train system near his apartment was delayed due to a health issue of a passenger.

As concerned as Yuu is for the faceless stranger, he’s all the more tired. It took no time at all for all of his exhaustion from traveling over the last two months to catch up with him.

This last trip was the last trip Yuu had planned for a long time. At 29, he really was seeking less and less adventure around the world and more of said adventure at home. With Asahi specifically. And also maybe a cat. They should adopt a cat, now that he’s really thinking about it.

Sleepy cat-adoption related thoughts aside, he completely forgot he didn’t actually tell any of his friends that he was coming home today from his trip. Including Asahi. After about the first three or so years of traveling, Yuu started keeping his return dates a secret. For Asahi, he’d alternate telling him a random date and the actual date, just to keep him on his toes. He liked surprising his boyfriend! And sometimes Asahi would surprise him back and end up in the country he was in “by chance” (although the pattern of Asahi double-triple checking Yuu wasn’t coming home anytime soon right before showing up sort of started to tip Yuu off on the surprises).

Ryu’s texts on the plane made more sense when he remembered the surprise return home bit of his day. The texts were mostly some variation of “Plane??” and “WHERE ARE YOU GOING BITCH WE HAD MORE TO DISCUSS.”

Typical bro texts.

Yuu reassured him they’d talk more when he got home (“ur comin home?? to jpn?? wait, ur asking him today!!?”) but he was so tired now that he’s have to push that to a different time.

Entering their shared apartment, while reminiscing about how awful jetlagg always hit him when he’d be home for longer, like his body knew or something, Yuu was surprised by the lights being on. He had half a mind to panic about a robber and another to panic about getting his AM and PM mixed up before remembering he was 1) back home and theft was much more rare for a the 8th floor apartment they had in Japan and 2) he was literally just outside so there was no way he wouldn’t have realized it was actually 10 pm and not 10 am.

“Koushi?” A lovely voice that always managed to bring Yuu peak joy called out from somewhere in the apartment. The kitchen, by the sounds of it. “I thought you weren’t coming by until tomorrow?”

Ah, Sugawara and Asahi always make Wednesday night plans, that’s right. Not anymore, or at least not tomorrow, if Yuu had his way, but that’s fine. Only approximately six people knew the code to their apartment, so it made sense that Suga was Asahi’s first guess, especially if they had plans. Tanaka rarely dropped by if Yuu was out, especially without knocking first, and despite knowing the code, Daichi and Kiyoko never barged in. Yuu would bet money his and Asahi’s family never bothered remembering the code, and Yuu was supposed to still be in Korea for another week.

But Asahi was meant to be at his studio until at least 5pm. That was meant to give Yuu time to nap and maybe come up with a better surprise or like, plan of any kind. Oh god, what if Asahi had already seen the article. Yuu desperately wanted to see his face when he read it. The shock, awe, happiness that would likely cross his features.

But he didn’t text Yuu, and he certainly would have had he seen it.

“Koushi?” A slight panic had entered Asahi’s voice, footsteps softly muffled across the apartment as he likely made his way towards Yuu with the lack of response. Lost in his thoughts again, oops.

Yuu made quick work of setting his bags on the ground softly in the entrance way, tugging his shoes off so he could tackle Asahi on sight. He found himself holding his breath as a shadow creeped across the floor towards him before he made brief eye contact with his (soon to be fiance, and then husband!) boyfriend to ensure he knew it was Yuu who was about to bodily tackle him.

“Yuu?” The color of pleasant surprise in Asahi’s voice, as well as hearing his own name in that tone, filled Yuu with enough energy to run 5 marathons. Or maybe 5 blocks and then he’d crash for 5 hours. Who’s to say?

Yuu’s own laugh filled the space around them as he jumped high before he wrapped his arms and legs around the other man. Asahi easily caught him, a small grunt left him as he steadied them both before he crushed Yuu to his own chest. “Asahi!! I’m home!”

“I can see that,” Asahi choked on a laugh, leaning some of his weight on the hallway’s wall and his grip somehow became even tighter, “I should have guessed that your end date for your trip would be a surprise this time around.”

“Yep! What are you doing home anyway? I thought you’d be at the studio!” Yuu pulled back, but not before pressing his lips chastely against Asahi’s in the middle of the other man’s attempt to answer.

“I was taking the day to work from home to figure out some of the finer details in some of my designs.” As Asahi spoke, Yuu slid down to his own two feet and beamed brightly up at his boyfriend, keeping his arms wrapped around Asahi’s waist as he rested his chin against his chest. It was always so good to be in his arms again. “I planned to go in later today but if you’re home-“

“You’d never leave me alone in this big place, would you, Asahi-san?” A pout settled on Yuu’s lips, and he tracked the way Asahi’s eyes followed the movement of his mouth. God he was so in love with this tall teddy bear of a man, especially when the flush that started at Asahi’s ears was made visible across his cheeks and down his neck.

“I- well, no, I don’t want to but I really need to finish-“ Yuu laughed and squeezed Asahi tight around the middle again, cutting the man off in his ramblings. Even after nearly 15 years, Asahi was still so fun to mess with. Even more so in this way and in person.

“You know I’m just messing with you, babe!” The flush deepened at the pet name, this time accompanied by a soft growing smile. “I’m soooo sleepy, I don’t think it’d be much fun watching me just sleep all afternoon, anyway. And I’m home! Home, home. For good! So no rush, really.”

Yuu couldn’t help the big grin across his own cheeks as he watched Asahi’s eyes disappear in happiness. The two of them held each other for a moment longer, just staring at one another before Asahi hummed softly under his breath and leaned down to share a kiss.

This one was much longer and less chaste than the first one. Large hands moved to Yuu’s jaw, one sliding up and into his hair. Asahi was always so good at saying Welcome Home without ever needing to say the words. Yuu felt himself fully relax and sag into his boyfriends grip.

“Oh, wow.” The words Asahi giggled fanned across his cheek as the kiss broke yet neither of them moved very far from one another. “You must really be exhausted, huh? Come, I was just making some tea. Why don’t I fix you a cup and then we can get you to bed?”

Yuu nearly moaned at just the thought of some Asahi-made tea. The sleep was also of course very appealing. Maybe if Yuu played his cards right he could get Asahi to cuddle with him for a little before he dozed off.

“That sounds perfect!”

It wasn’t until later, when Yuu was warm from tea, the change of his plane clothes to pajamas, and the large body pressed across his front, just barely still clinging to consciousness, that Yuu remembered the rings and the half-planned proposal.

He was home for good, though, so surely it could wait one more day.

—-

Yuu was going to actually go clinically insane if he had to wait one more fucking day.

It’s been a little over a week since he arrived back in Japan. He has a few job interviews lined up with various things across all his interests, and he’s met up with a bunch of their friends in the last week, what with being home and all. And sure those things have taken up a lot of his time and made it harder and harder for him to come up with a solid plan in terms of proposing to Asahi, but he’s practically vibrating out of his skin with excitement and nerves and he just wanted to ask.

Who said the proposal had to be some big fucking thing anyway?

“Uh, you did? Dude?” Ryu and Kone, a woman from Asahi’s current studio that quickly became one of their closest friends, sits across from Yuu as he whines and moans about lost timing and perfect conditions. He’s drowning himself in a sundae from a tiny American styled dinner near their apartment and he was sort of hoping for some sympathy or a proposal plan from either friend but, as always, he’s met with attitude.

“Never invite Tanaka-san if you don’t want attitude, Noya-san. You literally told me that on eight separate occasions.” Even Kone is giving him lip now. Oh how the turn tables or whatever the English phrase is.

“I don’t care about the attitude,” Yuu manages, cheek squished against the side of the table as he stares longingly at his near empty sundae bowl, “I just want some ideas. Get the old idea-train rolling. I have zero clue where to even start, short of dropping the question in the middle of a blow job-“

“Ew, visual, Yuu! I told you I can’t handle that. And in front of the sundaes!”

“Whatever. I’m surprised you didn’t say ‘in front of Kone-san’” Yuu mumbles, slowly dragging himself into an upright position in the booth. “I just want everything to be perfect, because Asahi-san is perfect, but I also get so excited and in my head ablut it, it feels like the words are just going to fall out at any moment when he’s around.”

“Aweee!”

“Kone-san has said worse shit to me about her girlfriend, so I can’t even try and say that anymore. And anyway, since when have you ever been anything but spontaneous Nishinoya Yuu? Have you evn shown him the Thailand article?”

Ryu shoves a spoonful of ice cream in his mouth as Yuu just shakes his head, groaning. “No, I haven’t found a good moment for that either!”

“Seriously? The article you called me at four in the fucking morning to gripe about?” Ryu looked like he was going to throw his spoon at Yuu. Thankfully Kone was there, or he might have. Can’t let the woman get caught in their food fight (and subsequently get kicked from the diner). “I can’t keep the news from the team for forever. Someone else is gonna see it and then bam in the group chat. Opportunity missed.”

Kone’s hum got both of their attention as she nodded along. “One of the other stylists at the studio asked Asahi-san the other day if he’d checked the news recently. Luckily he just said ‘no time, project first,’ in his typical work-aholic drone - y'know the tone he gets when he’s super locked in? And I was around to redirect them, of course. Otherwise I think they would’ve totally ruined it and talked his ear off.”

God, Kone: the life saver. He should get her a gift just for that.

“Thank you, Kone-san. I promise I’m not slacking for no reason, okay? I’m just… Just-“

“Nervous?”

“Scared?”

“Chicken-shit?”

“Ryu, I’ll tell Kiyoko-san about the mustard incident, don’t tempt me.”

At that, Ryu mimed zipping his lips, throwing his hands up in surrender for good measure. He’d never actually tell Kiyoko about that, because then she’d tell Asahi, and he really loves his bed. But Ryu doesn’t need that detail.

“O-kay… Brushing past that.” Kone, again, blessed be she to take the reins back on the conversation at hand. “I think it’d be very you, and I mean that in the plural ‘you and Asahi’ sense, as well as sweet and cute if you managed to hold off until the premiere of his new line. Night of, even!”

The premiere night? If Yuu remembers correctly, that's not for another 4 weeks, though…

“Asahi-san just announced he was doing a preview next Sunday night for the show since you’re home early.” Kome continued, likely noticing the distress on his face.

But that just left Yuu with new questions. “Wait since when? Why because of me?”

“I think the date for the public premiere was always after you were supposed to be back from your trip, but since you’re home early and we already have the bulk of the designs near completion, he’s opted for an intimate showing or preview or whatever. I don’t know more details than that. It’s why todays my only day off this whole week - and I’m still debating going in later to really ensure it’s all done in time.”

“I didn’t hear about any of that…”

For a moment, Kone’s eyes looked to grow twice in size, as if she had made an error in something she said. “Oh, uh. He’ll probably tell you tonight! We just found out yesterday about it! And we all have to do the work so of course we’d know first.”

Yuu is already stressed enough with everything on his own plate, he doesn’t really have the mental capacity in that moment to dissent the look that had passed Kone’s face, so he just nods. It makes sense to him. If nothing else, Asahi has been so stressed lately it’s likely slipped his mind. Not that Yuu can judge him, his projects always take a lot work but they always come out so good. Yuu could feel the smile inching across his face at the thought of his talented, handsome boyfriend. Ugh he couldn’t wait to make him his fiancé!

“Okay. Okay, yeah, perfect. I’ll bring the rings to the premiere and pull Asahi aside sometime after it. I doubt he’ll want an audience…” The excitement is back, although that does leave one thing. “But when do I even mention the news on Thailand? Maybe it would’ve been better for that designer to blab…”

“No, no, no. Dude, Yuu, c’mon. You can mention it after! Don’t make this whole thing because of Thailand. You want to marry Asahi-san! Regardless of some super dope law. It’s just also super possible because of said law. So ask your mans to be a perma-mans and then later you can show off your plans of a destination wedding! Bam!”

“Ryu,” Yuu felt choked up, tears filling the edges of his eyesight, “I hate whatever vocabulary you’ve picked up but you’re right. This is because it’s Asahi, not just because it’s legal.  Thanks dude.”

Kone stared at Ryu, partly in mild amazement, partly in what Yuu could only describe as disgust. “Perma- mans? What the fuck?”

The three burst into laughter, Ryu trying to pull any excuse for the new term out of his ass.

All the while, the excitement really began to build in Yuu. He reached into his left front pocket, gripping the box with the rings tightly. He’d been keeping them there, or well in any pants he wore, really, since he returned from his trip. And now he had a plan!

Soon these rings would be out of the box, one on his own hand and the other in the possession of the most important man in his life. He could hardly wait.

—-

The week dragged on ever slowly, from plans with friends to sporadic interviews to lunch dates and dinner dates and no-food dates galore. Yuu was surprised, honestly and pleasantly, by how much time Asahi could afford to give to him. He sort of figured Asahi would be MIA for the rest of the week until the premiere. Of course, he liked this version of events better, but it did make any solid plan-hashing time he may have had reduce to near zero.

Asahi did mention the premiere the same night Yuu had seen Kone and Ryu. Shy smile and hair artfully framing his face as he lay below Yuu. He, as always, looked absolutely beautiful, and there was no way come hell or high water that Yuu would have said no to anything he said in that moment, much less the invitation to attend Asahi’s premiere.

Not that he’d ever say no to supporting Asahi directly in such a way. Yuu can count on one hand just how many fashion shows Asahi has had a line in that he’s missed - which says a lot given how often he’s physically not been in Japan in the last decade. But he makes it a point to be home to celebrate his boyfriend’s success.

The show is intimate, barely even classified as a show. There’s max 20 people in the room, all of whom Yuu knows personally. Its small and cozy, and chattering amongst the others, Yuu can feel any lingering nerves dissipate. No matter how the night goes, Yuu will continue to love Asahi and Asahi will continue to love him, and that’s all that really matters to Yuu.

The burning rings in his pocket threaten to light him on fire at this point, though.

Call time approaches rapidly, the lights dimming and soft music flowing across the room. Yuu, now sitting front and center of a rather empty runway setup, surrounded suspiciously by his favorite people, is completely shocked by the start of the show featuring not a model in clothing designed by his absolute favorite person, but by said person himself.

Asahi walks down the relatively short runway towards Yuu in determination. Almost a model walk, but his gait was a little too fast and uneven - not that Yuu cared, Asahi still looked ten times better than any model he’d ever seen. And again, he’s been to a lot of these things.

Asahi looks so determined, locking eyes with Yuu. The lights haven’t dimmed like they typically do for a show, and Yuu realizes in that same moment that his chair sits out farther than the others.

Head to toe, Asahi looks absolutely stunning. Like he always does, but also slightly elevated. Yuu knows he designed the clothes he now wears. The fabric is elegant and what Yuu believes to be soft silks - a beautiful suit with asymmetrical patterns and long lines.

It feels like the hardest breath Yuu has ever taken when he realizes what’s going on.

“Nishinoya Yuu,” he’s have jumped at his name had he not been watching Asahi so intently. Asahi’s voice is commanding, and the music grows ever softer. Yuu stands quickly when Asahi is within an arms distance, desperate to make contact in some way. When their hands meet, Asahi smiles softly and for the first time Yuu can see a hint of his nerves in his eyes.

This motherfucker.

“Love of my life, and spark in my heart,” Asahi continues, quieter now. For the two of them, really, “I’m sure you’re well aware this isn’t a typical fashion line premiere. And if I haven’t given myself away yet, I hope you know this is solely for you. Although I did invite some other people so it wasn’t one big room, some models, and then you and I.”

Yuu laughs along with their audience, but he’s not paying them much mind. His eyes refuse to move from Asahi’s. Despite the nervous energy growing inside the man in front of him, Yuu can tell Asahi’s resolve is strong as he refuses to break eye contact as well.

“It’s been nearly 15 years since we met, back in that musty gymnasium. And it’s been just over 13 years since you tripped over a block of snow, covering yourself in mud before telling me you loved me as I laughed. I think about that day every night you’re away, and cherish every day that we spend with one another. You mean more than the world to me - you are the world to me. I could have nothing else and I’d still have everything I need with you by my side. Even when you pull pranks and switched Daichi’s shampoo with mustard, or are stuck in a place with no service for what feels like years, even if it’s only a few hours, I’m still content to wait for your every response and laugh with you at your every joke. I want to spend an eternity with you, but since we only have so long in this world, I’d be willing to settle for a few lifetimes. Would you, after all is said and done, choose to stay with me forever? Yuu, will you marry me?”

Yuu might actually spontaneously combust. All over Asahi’s newly made clothes, too. Holy shit this can’t be happening. Yuu is tempted to look over at Kone who he knows is to his left somewhere and who he knows knew about this whole fucking this, oh god.

But he’d rather die than look away from Asahi right now. And he can’t go another second without answering because oh god Asahi asked him to marry. Asahi asked him for forever.

“Yuu?” The tears blurring Yuu’s vision of Asahi are criminal. He attempts to clear his throat, muffling a sort-of-sob that he’ll deny with his dying breath, before he begins nodding vigorously.

“Fucking, Ashai-san! Yes! Of course, oh my god-“ Yuu just manages to cut his own ramblings off (and likely more sobs, if the tears running down his face are any indication). He throws his hands around Asahi’s shoulders, pulling the other man down for a soft kiss before burying his face in his shoulder. A loud cheer resonates around them, but Yuu is too busy breathing Asahi in to pay any mind.

Of course Asahi beat him to this. And so beautifully. So thought out, by his smart and hot boyfriend. No! His fiancé. God Yuu was going to abuse the fuck out of that word.

Asahi’s soft laughter and tight embrace wrapped Yuu further in his happiness. God and he fucking knew about the mustard too, of course he did.

“Yuu,” the soft voice in his ear spoke just loud enough forhim to hear, “I love you so much.”

“I love you too, Asahi-san,” Yuu managed behind choked breaths, still crying a little from how overwhelmed he felt, “I can’t believe you did all this. And after all my stress!”

Yuu pulled back abruptly, suddenly recalling the rings. He dug into his own pocket and pulled out the box, handing it to a moderately shocked looking Asahi. “I got us couple rings and everything!”

Asahi laughed again, holding up a box of his own that Yuu had failed to notice until that moment. “I guess we can wear two rings, then.”

Wide eyes flashing from each box back to Asahi’s face, the two shared another laugh before Yuu pulled Asahi back in for another long kiss. Ryu’s dramatic cat call be damned, Yuu was in a safe space to kiss his fiancé all he wanted. And he wanted!

The two exchanged rings between kisses, only pulling away when they both had two rings each on the same finger. Miraculously, the rings even seemed to compliment one another. Yuu imagined they’d likely end up on a chain around their necks, but he was happy to see them fit nicely against each other on his left ring finger, as well.

God, how did he get so lucky?

The two were quickly swarmed after that by their friends. Congratulations sounded around them, and a group of models came out in similar attire to what Asahi was wearing.

“A wedding line.” Asahi muttered at one point, suddenly shy, and Yuu couldn’t help but laugh joyously.

A right party started around them, and Yuu couldn’t have asked for better results. Asahi could crash his plans every day of the week and Yuu would only get happier about it.

“Did you show him the article?” Ryu’s voice suddenly sounded from behind him at some point and Yuu could feel himself brighten even further.

“Asahi!” Yuu nearly yelled, despite being maybe a foot away from him. Asahi just smiled wide, looking over in question. “Did you see the news?”
