It was dark.
He was still tied up to the chair, the cold metal biting into his skin, the rope tight around his body, the constant feeling of uncomfort and fear keeping him from passing out.
He was facing the side where the Boxes "door" (if you could even call it that) was. It was closed right now, keeping him from even thinking of trying an escape.
Chosen closed his eyes, finally giving into exhaustion. His body wouldn't allow him to fall asleep though, no matter how tired he was.
He was thankful for that though, because, not even 5 minutes after his eyes closed, he heard that dreaded sound of the Box opening.
Chosen's eyes shot open and he looked towards the entrance, terrified of what or who he would see.
However the stick that entered was not at all who he expected it to be.
It was that short pixelated mercenary that was chasing him before. They were the loud and energetic one.
In the background outside of the Box at some sort of console were the other mercenaries, minus the tall glasses one. The door closed before Chosen could get a better look at them or the surroundings outside of his current cell.
Pixels looked to have their arms behined their back, they seemed to be hiding something. That immediately put Chosen on edge.
They came up to him (quite fast), it surprised Chosen and he flinched.
"Hey, no need to worry, I ain't gonna hurt ya!" Pixels said, not exactly quietly. Though they didn't seem like the type of stick to know when to be quiet or shut up.
"I have a question, and a request, but first the question! Also, my name is Ballista, but you can me Bal, anyway!" They were talking so fast it was kinda hard to keep up.
Bal continued.
"You have fire, we all know you do, so I'm curious, have you ever roasted marshmallows with it?" Bal tilted their head in question.
Chosen was very confused at that. This guy had chased him down, shot him with glitch guns, probably watched as he got tortured and interrogated, and now he wanted to ask questions about marshmallows.
They were clearly still waiting for their answer and getting impatient in the meantime.
"Well??" They pushed.
Chosen had some trouble answering, his throat feeling parched, it was hard to talk.
"Um, n-no" when he finally managed to answer, his voice sounded scratchy and it was painful to get the words out.
"Hm, thats weird, well, there's a first time for everything!" With that said they finally revealed what was behined their back, it was a pack of, what Chosen assumed to be marshmallows.
His confusion doubled.
Bal seemed to notice the confusion on his face.
"Whats up?" A pause "wait, have you ever had a marshmallow before??" They looked almost... sad for him (it felt like pity, but Chosen chose to ignore that).
He shook his head no.
"WHAT!?"
Chosen flinched at the sound. Why was this guy so loud?
"You've really never had a marshmallow??" Bal asked, bewildered.
"Thats gotta change!" Their face is now filled with determination.
Suddenly, the Boxes walls turn transparent allowing them to see the rest of the room outside the box, as well as the other two sticks at the control panel.
"Here, I'll loosen your ropes, then Hazard will turn your fire on! Then you can have marshmallows with us!" Bal exclaimed "please don't try to kill us, we're trusting you and we'll be in very big trouble if something goes wrong!" They say in a voice just as chipper as before.
Chosen nods again, relieved to feel the ropes already loosening around himself. After he was free he felt his fire run through his blood once again, it felt very much refreshing and energizing.
Chosen immediately got out of the chair, but still weakened by having all his other powers off, and exhaustion in general, he had to sit down on the ground. Bal joined him and opened the marshmallow bag.
The other two of the mercenaries entered the Box. The taller one stayed by the entrance, leaning on the wall with her arms crossed, she seemed to be the lookout. The other guy, sign guy, went over to the two on the floor and sat down beside Bal, he nodded at Chosen. Chosen just stared at him.
"Okay! So fire! Just hold a small flame in your hand okay?" Bal then turned toward the tall one "Primal! Heyy! Do you have the sticks?" She nodded in return and went over handing Bal a stick (for some reason).
Bal took a marshmallow out of the bag and put it on the tip of the stick. Chosen tilted his head in confusion. Bal noticed.
"The sticks are so we don't burn our hands while heating the marshmallows! Watch, also, fire please!"
Chosen lit a small flame in his hand, holding it out. Bal then positioned the tip of the stick with the marshmallow on it above the small flame. They just kept it there looking more and more excited by the second.
Once the marshmallow was golden and more crispy, Bal moved it away from the fire.
"Done!" They exclaimed (loudly) in excitement.
"Wanna try it now?" They directed the question at Chosen who had since put out his flame.
Chosen hesitantly nods. The stick was directed towards him, marshmallow at the tip. Chosen took the marshmallow off and nibbled at it a bit before eating it whole.
It tasted very sweet and was very gooey, but it was warm and had a somewhat cozy feeling to it. Chosen's pupils grew big, like an excited cat, he'd never had something so sweet.
Bal laughed at his reaction, and so did the sign guy, Hazard, who let out a small chuckle.
"Okay guys make a few more before Agent or Vic come back, we don't wanna get caught" the tall one, Primal, said.
"Okay!" Bal got out another marshmallow, and this time Chosen was happy to supply a flame.
