Rui's shift was finally done in his part time job at Arcland, it was exhausting due to the facts that number one, he didn't sleep well or classic Rui fashion, an all nighter. Number 2, he had been running back and forth the whole day, directing one play to another, fixing equipment that needed immediate care (it's not his main job), and even running errands for Arcland! And last, but not least, number 3, he did all of that in the span of 5 hours (it would have been 7 hours, but everyone told him to go home and take it easy, even the higher ranking officials and bosses!)
So right now, Rui was walking to the train station to take the train back home near the apartments he and Tsukasa live in together. When he got there, he was lucky to have arrived just in time when his train had arrived. While waiting to get to his destination, Rui had taken a mental note to go take a nice, long nap right after getting home and eating dinner with Tsukasa.
Then he would do his whole routine again, waking up to another busy day at Arcland, working 5-10 hours (depending on what they would do that day), get back home, eat dinner with Tsukasa, and repeat the cycle again the next day (except for weekends). On the weekends, he would spend time hanging out with his dear blond star, which he always looked forward to!
Speaking of the blond… He wondered what he'd been up to today? Unlike the director, Tsukasa didn't have a part time job like Rui, so Tsukasa would spend a lot more of his day at their shared apartment than Rui. Of course Tsukasa had a job, (being the leader of WxS even if they don't perform that often nowadays…) but Tsukasa would also either be at WxS (sometimes helping out Emu or planning shows there), home doing who knows what, and or doing special live performances or other gigs here and there at different places that companies asked him to do, especially ones with very well known names and reputations due to the very obvious fact that “Tsukasa Tenma World Future Star” is basically now adays, a star in Shibuya, even well known in Japan! Because of this fact, Tsukasa would get a lot of work for gigs, maybe not as much as his director Rui, but a lot of work nonetheless.
“Ah, 5 minutes before my train arrives at the station,” Rui had noticed. “Mmm… maybe I should text Tsukasa-Kun that I'll be home soon, maybe ask him if he wants anything from the supermarket.” Rui then pulled out his phone to text the said blond one's number.

Rui chuckled at Tsukasa's responses as he almost always had proper grammar whenever texting anyone. He closed out of the message app and turned off his phone, putting it away in his pocket. When he finally looked up he heard the train's announcement that they had arrived, perfect timing. He exited the train and left the train station shortly afterwards, heading to the shopping district. The shopping district for him, luckily, wasn't too far from the station or his and Tsukasa's apartment, so he had decided to walk there. After a few minutes of walking, it had made him realize the scenery around him to admire, specifically the sky, as the sun had started to set, leaving the sky with red-orange hues making the clouds almost glow and shimmer. The beautifully soft, but amazingly glowing sky reminded him of his favorite star actor, he just didn't know why that is. Perhaps it's because they both made him smile a genuine smile…
He finally found the store he often frequents where they stock Tsukasa’s favorite snacks. Rui decided to get a bit more of their snacks than usual, knowing that Tsukasa was going to eat them all in less than a month's worth of time, so he had to be prepared in case that happens again… (trust him, you do not wanna see a Tsukasa without his snacks…) He also got the ingredients to make some simple dinner for him and Tsukasa later, one of the few dishes he can make without the blonds help.
After paying for the items, he headed back home, which only took a couple of minutes of walking and admiring the sunset for him to arrive at the apartment complex that they live in, which had several floors (them living on the 8th floor) and a nice view of the quiet city from their balcony. He finally arrived at his front door, opening it with his keys to their apartment hoping to find his dear Tsukasa, only to find that Tsukasa wasn't home.
Well, it seemed like it.
It was far too quiet for Tsukasa to be here and there were no signs of Tsukasa anywhere in the living room where he would usually be 80% of the time. Rui just ruled out that he had a quick errand to make and went to take off his shoe when suddenly, he saw Tsukasa’s shoes.
“So Tsukasa-Kun is here after all then? Hmm, strange that he isn't here practicing in the living room with his scripts in one hand or at least doing something Tsukasa-Kun like, as his usual self,” Rui thought.
After taking his shoes off and putting the items he had bought away, Rui decided to have some fun and investigate around the apartment to figure out where Tsukasa might be. He investigated the walk-in closet they both shared (their rooms connected to it), he took a quick look around the kitchen and living room again to double check, and finally went to see if Tsukasa was in his room. Which he was. Tsukasa was in his bed, snuggled up with the blanket over himself, and was snoring very quietly (strange for someone so loud as Tsukasa when he's awake, to be doing).
Rui went closer to the sleeping star on the bed, planning something. “He looks adorable like this~,” A few second later, Rui had pulled out his phone to take a few pictures of Tsukasa to tease him about later, but also to save in his “My Star~” photo album.
The director inched closer to his actor's face. “Tsukasa-Kun, wake up~!” Rui had whispered in Tsukasa's ear with his teasing voice.
“I don't wanna… Rui…” Tsukasa sleepily mumbled, turning around now facing away from Rui and hugging his pillow he had, which of course was a yellow, star shaped pillow.
“Tsukasa-Kun~ you know you can't sleep the whole day right? And plus-...” Rui started to say. He had remembered that those snacks Tsukasa likes were one of the ways to get him excited, “-Don't you want to eat some of those snacks you like? Tsukasa-Kun~? I got them just for you, you know~…”
“Mmm,” Tsukasa was now thinking really hard, but still sleepy. “Later.. right now I'm tired…”
And just like that, Tsukasa went back to sleeping like the sleeping beauty he is, waiting for his one true love to wake him up with a kiss.
“I suppose that I'll make us dinner in the meantime then… I'll get you out of your bed one way or another though~ fufu~”
An hour or 2 later, Rui had finally finished dinner, almost falling asleep while doing so. It wasn't the best, but at least it tasted better than if high school Rui had cooked it, which was a win in his book. The next thing he had in his agenda was to set up the dinner table for dinner, just the bare minimum because he didn't want to take out unnecessary items for just a simple little dinner. Lastly, and finally most excitingly, he went to get Tsukasa out of bed.
“Tsukasa-Kun~!” Rui called his name out from the dining room, “It’s time to get up!”
He walked up to Tsukasa's bedroom door and opened it. To his surprise, Tsukasa was on the floor, next to his bed. It had seemed like Tsukasa was trying to get up, but in the end, couldn't get up without his warm, fuzzy blanket.
“Fufu, Tsukasa-Kun looks so silly!” Rui exclaimed. “But Tsukasa-Kun has to get up one way or another!”
Rui crouched down, near the Tsukasa on the floor and took his warm, cozy blanket off of him. Tsukasa protested in a “Ruiii!” whine. Rui just chuckled at Tsukasa's little whine and then proceeded to, without any struggle, pick up the still sleepy Tsukasa off the floor.
“Rui… you know I can walk right?…” Tsukasa mumbled, still half asleep, but more awake than a few seconds ago in his cocoon-like state on the ground.
Rui smiled at him and laughed a little to see him in his sleepy self. “I know, but can't I pick up my shining star from the floor?”
“No.. I mean um, ugh yes you can I suppose…” Tsukasa answered, turning his head away for a second from Rui to look at something “very interesting” in the room before turning back. “But still! I have perfectly good legs that I can walk on!” Tsukasa said in a now, not-so sleepy voice.
“Ok ok, I'll put you down.” A second later, Rui had put Tsukasa down so he could finally stand up, tripping a little, but standing up. “Anyways, I came here to get you up because I made dinner for us, so hurry before it gets too cold~!”
Check! That was the last thing Rui had to do on his agenda for the day! Rui exited the blonds room, practically skipping with joy at, yet again, another day that he can tease his dear actor. While leaving though, he started to think about what happened…
“Tsukasa-kun was so adorablely cute when he- wait, why did I mentally think that he was ‘adorable’? Hmm…” Rui thought.
“Oh wow!! It's udon noodles!! Rui you're an amazing cook!!” Tsukasa appeared next to Rui happily jumping up and down like a little child when he saw that Rui had made some udon noodles, of course it didn't have vegetables in it, but it was one of Tsukasa's more favorite dishes.
“Fufu,Tsukasa-Kun thank you, but you're the better cook out of the both of us,” Rui corrected, walking to his seat, which was across Tsukasas, to sit down.
“But still!! I could tell it was going to be so amazing that I could smell it all the way from my room!” Tsukasa said excitedly, now also heading to his respected seat. “Anyways, we should eat now shouldn't we?!”
“Yes, let's,” Rui answered back, finally sitting down to eat. “Do tell me how I did this time because I'm sure that it's not the greatest…”
Rui and Tsukasa both started to eat the udon noodles, and while Rui thought that it was pretty bland and not how Tsukasa makes it, the other praised Rui that it tasted good, which the other turned a little red with embarrassment. Tsukasa just laughed at his reaction, now using his chance, which he has few, to tease the director, making him now the victim of teasing instead of Tsukasa.
After a while, the two had started to talk more about their days.
Rui was telling Tsukasa how he was going back and forth the whole day at work, making him tired of so much to do. Meanwhile Tsukasa had told Rui that he didn't have anything to do for a while so he decided that it would totally be a good idea to sleep really, really late, until being woken up by Rui texting him.
Even if Rui was a really bad example of sleeping little to no sleep at all most of the time, he would spend that time up on just working on projects that would help WxS and or Arcland work and paper work. So when he heard that the most responsible person he had ever met in his life go to sleep at the time he would usually wake up, he went full Rui Kamishiro director mood on him.
“Tsukasa… Seriously?…” Rui scolded Tsukasa, putting down his chopsticks next to his bowl of udon and staring at Tsukasa with a blank expression on his face, then spoke again. “Why would you do something like that? You out of all people should know that it's important to get the proper amount of sleep every night! How will I, your director, direct his star actor if his said actor didn't get enough sleep the previous night?”
“Rui why are you making this a big deal when you do this everyday! Even when I'm worried about you and your sleep schedule, you still keep staying up past 4 getting no sleep whatsoever!” Tsukasa frustratedly yelled, who had also set down his chopsticks to the side. “I don't understand why you even stay up that late, but nonetheless it still messes up your sleep schedule! Heck, I only stayed up once and still got a few hours of sleep!”
“Well unlike your reasons, mine were important as I had to work on multiple projects that were due today. Meanwhile you stayed up because you felt like it, just to probably doom scroll on your socials!” Rui hissed, his blank face turning into one of a disappointed and upset one. “I know that I should be the last person to even talk about this, but staying up like that is utterly stupid to do!
Tsukasa looked at Rui in an annoying and mad way, making Rui quickly add, “Look… What I mean when I say this is that I'm worried and concerned about your health and this becoming a habit because I also started making that a habit, a really bad one that I don't think I can get out of. Getting little to no hours of sleep, being sleep deprived, having a weak body… I have to face it, but imagining you making it a habit and dealing with it too makes me… Scared… I don't want you to deal with that because I care about you a lot. As my star actor, I want you to be at your best, because you're the whole reason I tried to become more responsible. To look up to, even if you're only older by a month, I still want to see you as the more responsible and also bright star you are to me. So can you?… Please try not to make this a habit, maybe not in a way to make me less worried about you, but for yourself to shine brightly like the star I admire so much.” Rui said in almost a whisper, having his down not looking at Tsukasa now.
Tsukasa just sat in complete silence, eyes wide in surprise and shock at what Rui just admitted, catching him off guard completely. What Rui just said to him surprised him knowing that his director he cares about deeply was worried over something so little (in his opinion) as him going to sleep late just once. But now Tsukasa could see why he was so worried, having a bad sleep schedule can affect his performances, mental health, and even his skin really negatively, in which he didn't want happening to him.
“…I-I didn't know that you cared that much Rui… I'm sorry for making you so worried over that. A-and I'm so sorry for saying all of that to you, I-I didn't mean to sound so mean, I just was… Frustrated?… Which I shouldn't have been, I should have controlled my emotions better.” Tsukasa apologized, putting his arms on his lap and putting his head slightly down, being able to see his arms in his view.
“N-no, I should be the one apologizing, not you… I shouldn't have gotten that angry at you for something stupid like that, especially when I do it practically everyday. It wasn't fair for me to get all angry like that… I should have thought about your feelings to not hurt you or make you feel bad about all of that…” Rui now glanced up to look at Tsukasa with eyes of shame, gentle yet full of sadness that could make anyone feel bad for him, not in an attention seeking wise, but feeling horrible for him.
Tsukasa looked up to a Rui, who looked like he was about to start crying. The actor at that moment knew he had to do something to make him feel better, so he quickly got up and headed to Rui, who looked puzzled about what he was trying to do. He didn't have time to react as Tsukasa quickly embraced him in a warm, loving hug. This stunned Rui at the sudden action, getting all tense upon contact, but quickly reciprocated the act, now holding onto Tsukasa as if he was going to disappear if be let go.
A few seconds of hugging later, Rui decided to move his head to rest on Tsukasa's shoulder, turning his head towards the crook of his neck. He then quietly in a shaking voice, mumble apologies over and over again near Tsukasa ear. Tsukasa responded back to him by saying that it was ok and that he forgives him for the commotion they had and that they'll both be ok. They both stayed in the same position, both hugging each other, not wanting to be apart from each other. After the both of them felt better by telling the other that they were ok now, they broke the connection, looking at each other softly (almost in a loving way), staying in a comfortable silence for a while before Tsukasa spoke up.
“All better Rui?” Tsukasa questioned, still seeing him crying a little, but more or less fine.
“Fufu, yes I am Tsukasa-Kun. All because of you my star~” Rui teased, now having his signature smirk and energy back, making the other relieved, but making him also blush a bit from the comment. His face now was tinted with a light shade of pink.
“Jeez, why does he have to say that in such a cute, sweet way??!?” Tsukasa thought, blushing even more after thinking that, then quickly responded to the director, “W-well someone looks like they finally went back to normal!”
Rui chuckled a little at seeing Tsukasa's reaction to his words affect him so much. He then realized that they still hadn't cleaned the dinner table because of their little fight and apology hug. So he got up from his chair and started to clean the table. Well, that was the plan at least before Tsukasa interfered him from doing so.
“N-No Rui! You don't have to clean up! You were the one that made dinner so it's only fair if I cleaned up! Besides, it shouldn't take a while so you go rest now!!” Tsukasa exclaimed, taking both of Rui's hands so he doesn't touch any of the plates. “You did have a hard day right?! So you should go take a nap to rest!”
Tsukasa then had let go of one of his hands and took his wrist with the other hand he held, now dragging him to his room with Rui almost tripping over due to him rushing him to his room, when they got to his room Tsukasa finally took a glance at it in quite a while, but still looked the exact same.
Unlike Tsukasa's, Rui's room was filled with robots and blueprints scattered all around everywhere where Rui could keep. He also had bolts, screws, tools, and even the WxS robots, (Yes he did make a Robo-Rui, Robo-Emu, and yes, a Robo-Tsukasa) but it looked like he was currently making repairs to Robo-Tsukasa due to his room being even more messier then usually and Robo-Tsukasa standing near his table where he builds and repairs his robots. Rui also had a pretty decent sized bed in the far corner of his room that could comfortably fit 2 people on it and was nicely decorated with 8 plushies he had collected (most of them coming from Tsukasa as he bought them just for Rui) that were all scattered on his bed.
“There! Now go to sleep!!” Tsukasa ordered Rui as he pushed him on his bed and quickly exited the room, closing the door behind him, and leaving Rui alone in his room.
“I mean I do feel somewhat tired…It wouldn't hurt to take a quick nap would it?” Rui told himself, now getting his blanket and rapping himself with it.
“Mm if only I had something warm to be next too… these plushies are too cold… Maybe something… As warm as… Tsukasa-”
“I wonder if Rui is actually asleep… Hmmm, I'll check on him later, but now I got to get started on cleaning first!”
