“Hey.” Akiba grinned at Tei as he came through the apartment door. “Boring day again?”
“I’d rather take another boring day at work than a hectic one.” Tei groaned, taking off his shoes. “Let me get changed now.”
Once he was in more comfortable clothing, he returned to join his boyfriend on the couch. “Had a good time at the gym?” Akiba had started working out quite more since they had moved in together, saying he wanted to put on some more muscle after staying stagnant in his physique for a while. Tei wondered if he was just trying to impress him, but was a fan of it regardless.
“God, my ass feels like it’s falling off.” Akiba groaned. “Can’t skip leg day though. Especially not when a certain someone loves staring at them~”
“Yeah, yeah.” Tei rolled his eyes. “I only suffer through this job so I can come home to my handsome, hot, sexy Taku and stare at him for the rest of the night.”
“Don’t need to act like it’s sarcasm.” Akiba snorted. “We both already knew you love this body.” He wasn’t wrong. Tei was always happy to compliment his appearance under the bedsheets.
“I- Sure, whatever.” Tei tried to play off his embarrassment. Either way, he didn’t really mind Akiba’s teasing, as it was usually what he needed after his shifts.
“Dude, you’re so red right now!” Akiba took amusement at the pink-haired man’s face, letting out a higher-pitched giggle at the sight.
Tei took a moment to replay the sweet sound in his head before chuckling to himself. “God, you’re so fucking cute when you laugh like that.”
After a moment of silence, he turned to the archer. “Are you gonna keep-”
He paused when he realized that Akiba had turned even redder than him, mouth wide open. “Holy shit.” He whispered.
“What?” Tei asked, immediately worrying. “Are you okay? What’s wrong? Answer me.”
Akiba continued staring at him, stumbling over his words. “Did you just- Did you call me cute?”
“I mean, yeah.” Tei looked at him blankly. “It’s really cute.”
It seemed to come as a punch to the gun to Akiba. “Oh my god, Atsushi…” He slowly leaned to the side, falling over onto Tei, practically melting into him.
As amusing as it was seeing Akiba so flustered, it did confuse Tei quite a bit. “Huh? I compliment you all the time. I mean, respectfully, I didn’t realize it was that serious.”
“You’ve never called me cute before. You call me hot and stuff, but… Cute is different.” Akiba didn’t attempt to get off of Tei.
Tei started to grin. “Aw, you like that? Do you like when I call you cute?”
“...Yeah.” The blonde murmured.
Tei saw his opportunity and took it. “Do you want me to keep doing it?”
Akiba looked around nervously. “Uh, yeah. Please.”
“Okay.” Tei started petting the top of Akiba’s head. “You’re really cute, Taku. Your smile is so cute, and you have such an adorable laugh.”
“Mmmmmmmmgh…” Tei wasn’t sure exactly how to describe the low rumble that came from Akiba, but in a way it almost reminded him of a cat’s purring.
He had to keep himself from laughing as he continued scratching his scalp. “Oh, yes. Taku’s just the cutest boy ever.” He shifted his wording to make it sound as if he was bragging about his boyfriend to another party, finding it to be effective as Akiba continued to whine in his lap. He was acting like a spoiled dog, and Tei loved it.
“He’s my Taku.” Tei alternated between playing with Akiba’s ponytail and running his hand across his warm face. “Taku’s my baby, oh, yes he is.”
“You’re gonna kill me…” The taller man muttered. “How the fuck are you so good at this?”
“Maybe it’s because I love Taku so much.” Tei rubbed circles on Akiba’s back. “I love my cute boy more than anything in the world. It’s so easy to love him, of course it is.”
Akiba lazily pushed himself up to lean back on Tei’s shoulder, arms gripping him intensely and face still warm. “Keep going.” He whispered.
Tei had to take a few deep breaths to keep himself from losing his shit. He felt like he was seconds away from combusting on the spot just from how adorable his boyfriend was being. “Taku’s so big and strong, he loves to hold me in his big arms of steel… But on the inside, he’s such a little sweetheart, isn’t he? He loves me just as much as I love him. And he’s so cute when he loves me.”
“I do…”
Tei shifted Akiba to be in front of him, letting him lean forwards to embrace the part-timer, his hands patting Akiba’s back. “You’re just trying to be as cute as possible, aren’t you? It’s working.” Tei finally let himself laugh at the absurdity of the situation. Not as if he thought of it as something for Akiba to be embarrassed of, but he could admit he wasn’t expecting it. Nevertheless, he enjoyed it a lot, as Akiba’s clinginess had always come as something Tei loved rather than found annoying. “This might be the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen.”
“I know…”
“Okay, I think that’s enough.” Tei allowed Akiba to clamber off of him. “So, what’d you think? Did I do a good job?”
Akiba nodded, still appearing nervous. “Yeah. Really. I liked that a lot.”
“I can tell.”
“No need to make fun of me, man.”
“I wasn’t making fun of you, I swear.” Tei promised. “I really love… Being able to love you. No matter the method. It works for you, right?”
“Yeah, yeah.” Akiba nodded. “It’s kind of stupid, but I like it when you… Cherish me. When you make me feel valuable. And when you talk like that, it’s love. Just love. And I just don’t know what to do with so much love, and I guess that’s kind of why I… React that way to it.” He still seemed slightly embarrassed about it as he explained.
Tei hummed in agreement. “I get it. And I’m happy to treat my favorite boy like that whenever he wants.” He pet Akiba’s head once more. Every time he looked up at Tei with those big, adorable grey eyes, he could never tell whether the man better embodied a puppy or a kitten. He was the perfect mix of both, really. He was perfect.
“Alright, we can take a break from all that.” Akiba sighed. “But back to where we were. Give me a leg massage?” He put his feet up, showing off the way his shorts tightly hugged his thighs. While Tei had just found out the quickest way to get Akiba to fold for him, the archer had known Tei’s own weakness for quite some time.
Tei was quick to join him. “You got it.”
