Work Text:
As Karkat already knew it, another day on the meteor was already over. He had been stuck on this Meteor for 2 and a half years, and only a few people to keep him company. His human friend, Dave Strider, was one of them. Karkat didn’t really understand humans, and thought they were pretty weird. But, he didn’t think that way about Dave. He thought Dave was cute, actually. Karkat liked how Dave acted so shitty, but so cool at the same time. He loved everything about Dave. But, he didn’t know how to confess his feelings for him. Before he got to think about it more, he heard Dave’s voice get closer to Karkat’s room.
“Hey man, you look pretty stressed.” Dave says. Gog damn it, Karkat just wished he could disappear right at this moment.
“No man, I’m totally fine.” Karkat responded back instantly. Obviously, Dave knew that he was lying. He started to walk over to Karkat, and eventually sat on his bed.
“Tell me the truth. What’s been going on with you lately man?” Dave said. Karkat knew he couldn’t tell Dave the truth, cause it would probably ruin their friendship. Karkat resisted in telling Dave, and instead said
“Dude, there’s nothing going on!! Now would you get the fuck out of my room?” Karkat yelled. Karkat also saw Dave wasn’t falling for his bullshit. Dave scooted a little bit closer to Karkat, and now they were about 1 inch away from each other.
“Karkat, you know I can tell when you’re lying, right?” Dave said. Dave reached for his shades, and snatched them off. He then proceeded to throw them off the bed. Karkat stared deep into his red, crimson eyes. Karkat and Dave sat there, making eye contact.
“So, are you gonna tell me or what?” Dave said. Karkat, mesmerized by Dave’s red eyes, didn’t say anything.
“Your eyes are beautiful.” Karkat said. “…and so are you.” He said directly after. Dave stood there, obviously shocked by what Karkat had just said.
“I-uh, thanks man.” Dave said. He started to get flushed, and his cheeks turned red. Karkat was immediately shocked by the redness on his face.
“Your blood is red?” Karkat said, shockingly. This made him love Dave a little bit more, since they had the exact same blood color. He could finally be comfortable around someone, and not get judged for having mutant blood.
“Yeah man. Every human has this blood color.” Dave said. He was utterly dumbfounded by Karkat’s stupid question. Karkat was so embarrassed right now, his face started to become red.
“Dude, are you blushing?” Dave said. Karkat’s eyes started to tear up, cause he was so stressed, and he came towering down in Dave’s torso. Dave’s arms wrapped Karkat, and gave him a warm hug.
“I love you man.” Karkat said to Dave.”
“I love you too, Karkitty.” Dave responded back.
