Chapter Text
It was October 30th, the day before Halloween. Sebek continued his day as usual. Greet Malleus, Lilia, and Silver, then get ready for school. However, as he was getting ready, he couldn't help but feel a sense of uneasiness wash over him. As if he was being watched. He looked out the window where a dark oak tree was. However nothing was there.
"Sebek! Come on!" Lilia's voice immediately made Sebek refocus again. He quickly got ready and went downstairs to head to school. For the whole day, Sebek couldn't help but be on high alert. He felt like someone was monitoring him 24/7. Yet whenever he turned his head, no one was there. This feeling only grew stronger as the day passed and soon night fell. After dinner, he went to his dorm room and laid down on the bed. For a few minutes he couldn't sleep. Then those minutes turned into hours. Eventually, Sebek got up and snuck out of Diasomnia. He walked around the empty school with nothing but questions filling his mind.
Suddenly, someone tapped his shoulder but when he turned around like before, no one was there. He looked around the area on high alert but only saw a letter addressed to him. He opened it and began reading.
To my dearest Sebek,
I hope you are doing well since your last visit to Halloween Town. As you may know, tomorrow is the day of Halloween- October 31st. While I know that you'd want to be with Malleus during this time, I have to come and see you. As soon as possible. So meet me outside of Ramshackle at 5:30pm tomorrow.
Thank you,
Skully J Graves
Sebek's eyes widened as he saw the name. Skully? Why did he want to see him? Why specifically him? Wait, why do I care so much about him? Sebek's cheeks flushed. If he was being completely honest, he misses Skully so much that his heart practically aches. So after a few moments of contemplating, he slid the letter into his pocket and went back to Diasomnia. He was going to see Skully- no, he NEEDED to see Skully. So with the thought of seeing Skully in mind, he fell asleep on his bed.
The next day came Halloween, where everyone celebrated and danced in happiness. But Sebek? Usually he’d be with Malleus by now but he was nowhere to be seen. This made Malleus puzzled but just as he was about to look for him, Lilia had already dragged him near the dance floor. The Halloween party inside was lively and cheerful while the night outside remained quiet.
The silence was short- lived as Sebek approached Ramshackle and saw Skully sitting on the fence near the graveyard. “State why you wanted to see me. I cannot leave waka-sama waiting on my return!” Sebek said in his usual loud voice as he got closer towards the tall, white haired boy. Skully looked at him and smiled before handing him a locket pendant.
“Sebek, my dearest.” Sebek looked confused at the sudden saying of ‘my dearest’. The same thing he said in that letter. He inspected the locket in his hands. It was a silver heart locket. He wanted to question Skully why he showed this to him but before he could answer, Skully interrupted.
“This pendant was a sign of our love.” Sebek’s jaw opened slightly as his eyes widened. He was contemplating whether to say something or not.
“Skully, what do you mean by that?” Skully gestured for the green haired boy to open the locket. His eyes widened further as he saw what was inside. It was a photo of Skully and a green haired boy who looked eerily similar to Sebek. Beneath the picture, there were two names. One was Skully J Graves and the other? Sebek Marie Zigvolt.
“This was us 100 years ago, when we were in high school. However, my soul didn’t pass on and instead became immortal and bound to this place.”
“What are you suggesting?” Sebek asked as his gaze shifted from the locket to Skully.
“Sebek, I want to grant us a life where we can be together for eternity. A life where you and I? We can both be immortal and spend our time here!” Skully said, as he tried to convince Sebek to agree. Sebek hesitated. What about Waka-sama? What about Silver? What about Lilia-sama? Skully cupped the other’s cheeks with both of his hands. Sebek half expected for his hands to be cold but it had a strange warmness to them.
“W-What about my life here? With waka-sama? With Silver? With Lilia-sama?” He asked as he worriedly looked into Skully’s eyes. Skully gave a reassuring smile.
“We can arrange something my dearest. I just don’t want to lose you.” Skully said as he looked at Sebek with pleading eyes that looked as if he was about to cry. Sebek sighed, there was a faint blush scattered on his face. The words ‘I don’t want to lose you’ made his heart flutter. Sebek looked at Skully with sad eyes.
"I love you too. But I can't just leave-"
"So you're choosing me over them?" The words stung as he said them. Of course he didn't want to leave Skully. Of course he wanted to stay by his side. But the thought of spending time with him without his precious waka-sama to protect? It made his heart heavy. What if something would happen while he was gone?
“Skully I-”
“I see. You need a reminder of your past, my dearest. Very well then.” Sebek stepped backwards.
“What do you mean by-”
Suddenly, Skully used his magic to create a small, glowing orb of light. He held it in his hand before grabbing Sebek’s hand and forcing the orb down his throat. At first Sebek wanted to push him away but he soon began to realise Skully was crying. In front of him.
“Please remember…..I can’t lose you again….” As he said those words, Sebek swallowed the orb.
.
.
.
His throat felt like it was burning.
He was falling into an abyss.
Where was he?
It felt like this fall had no end.
He saw a glimpse of light at the bottom
He instinctively closed his eyes and suddenly, he felt a warm feeling surge all around him. And there, he saw it.
Night Raven College.
Everyone was chatting happily in the courtyards, walking to their classes, and playing around with friends.
“You! Tell me where I-” As soon as Sebek tried to reach out to a random student, his hand went through the body.
‘Of course’. He thought to himself. ‘This is a memory.’
As he walked around the courtyards, he suddenly heard yelling.
“Human! Give my magic pen back!” Sebek turned around to see who the person yelling was.
And then he saw it.
His stomach felt a strange sense of warmth and familiarity as he saw the green haired half-fae along with a tall white haired boy. Upon seeing them, Sebek immediately recognized who those people were.
It was him and Skully.
