It rankles.
Not because Valley Girl Barbie beat him physically; Cain is a pragmatic man, he uses weapons because werewolves are stronger than he is, and this girl clearly goes well beyond baseline human. Stuff like that? it is what it is.
And not because she cost him a trophy. That matters, but it’s not the biggest bit.
It isn’t because of her boo-hoo bleeding-heart preachiness, either. The world is full of idiots, and Cain long ago got used to that.
No, the real bite comes from something a lot more basic:
She ruined his gun.
… Damn California liberals.
