It's been a while since they've been trapped here together. In the tunnels underneath the palace.
They were being renovated, new entrances and exits being built, which could take days on end, as most people were informed. Apart from Akito and Tsukasa. Somehow, the letters flew past their heads, despite them being very well-known in the city, and they ended up wandering in right before they started to build. Now, there were several exits, but no one bothered to remember or use them, so they got buried over with dirt and stone. That was their first problem.
Now they wandered around, finding dead ends everywhere, the rebuilding being blocked off with large stones as not to let the rats in. Those were their second problem. Scuttling around practically right under their feet, were rats as big as loaves of bread, making Tsukasa screech every time despite it happening a lot. Which in turn damaged Akito's hearing to the point he hears a ringing in his ears for hours after.
The only food they found was... half-dead rats... which they were not about to eat. Since they would be there for who knows how long, it might be what they have to eat. That's their third problem, unless you count Tsukasa almost collapsing several rooves over them as one.
To be honest, Akito thought that they would’ve heard him by now and came to help. Guess not.
"Are you sure you checked your bag...?" Tsukasa slid down the wall, almost sitting on a pile of rat bones to his side.
"Yes, I'm sure. I checked it a few times now. What about you? Huh?"
"Well-"
"Go on, check."
Tsukasa groaned and opened his bag, ruffling through pages and documents, trying to find any sort of food at the bottom of his bag he forgot about.
"Uh... I have a cough sweet?"
"With the wrapper?"
"About that..."
The cough sweet in question was covered in dirt that had somehow made its way into his bag, despite him being a very tidy person.
He held it up to him, which was met with a groan as Akito slid down to sit with him. He rubbed his face, his stomach growling louder each passing second.
"So no to the cough sweet?"
"Obviously not."
"Alright..." He chucked it a distance away, bouncing onto the ground and slowing to a stop near the other wall.
He looked through his bag again, this time in a pocket on the side.
"Aha! Another cough sweet! With a wrapper!"
"That’s only one."
"Yeah? We could share it!"
Akito rolled his eyes as Tsukasa popped it into his mouth, smiling around it, and rested his chin on his hand, his elbow digging into his knee.
Tsukasa started looking through his bag again, throwing away opened cough sweets and mints covered in dirt.
"Tenma."
"Hm?"
He turned to him, still sucking on the sweet, trying to get as much flavour as he could out of it.
Akito grabbed Tsukasa’s scarf, pulling his face into his and twisting his head to the side.
He ran his tounge over Tsukasa's lips, and they parted almost on instinct. His tongue rummaged around in his mouth, looking for the sweet, brushing against the other's teeth. He eventually found it without Tsukasa's help, as he was too shocked after what happened to help.
He hooked onto the sweet with his tongue, and pulled it out into his own mouth before pulling away, a strand of saliva connecting the two.
He sucked on the sweet for a bit, before grimacing.
"So much for sharing it. Tastes like liquorice. Bleh." He pulled a red Tsukasa back to him, locking their mouths together again and pushing the sweet back into Tsukasa's mouth.
After pulling away again, he shook his head and stuck his tongue out.
Tsukasa's mouth was still wide open, the sweet starting to slide out, and Akito pushed his jaw back up. His face was completely red now, his eyes staring into the distance, unblinking, arms limp by his sides.
