Work Text:
With a jolt, Dean wakes from another nightmare, sweaty and shaking. He sits up in his motel room bed and strips his sweat-soaked T-shirt. As he gazes at Sam’s form, asleep in the other bed, a sense of comfort washes over him – but it is not enough. He needs to be closer. Quietly, Dean creeps to Sam’s bed. Sam is lying on his side facing away from Dean. Gently, Dean places his hand on Sam’s shoulder.
“Sammy,” he whispers.
“Hmm?”
“Can I get in bed with you again? I had another nightmare.”
“Yeah, come in,” Sam replies drowsily.
With a sigh of relief, Dean climbs in bed behind Sam. He wraps an arm around Sam’s torso and holds him tight, like a teddy bear. Though Sam doesn’t seem quite awake, he entwines their fingers. They don’t speak further, just fall together into a deep, restful sleep that lasts till morning.
