Work Text:
There would be no homecoming for anyone. At the end of the day, Yuki chose the path of not returning things to the way they were, of sacrificing old relationships for the new ones, as if the old relationships meant nothing.
Nobody, of course, knew that reality could have returned to a time before the incident, that all the strange happenings could have been forgotten, this knowledge secure in Yuki’s mind as she continued through life supposedly mourning the loss of what once was, or so she would have everyone think.
Yet the choice she made came too easily, was made on the simple thought of how dare she sacrifice what everyone went through and everything that everyone became, completely forgetting that there was an alternate path in life for everyone, and that for every birth that wouldn’t now happen in the new reality, there were births that wouldn’t happen in this one.
Over-simplified, undervalued, trying to be the rebellious different from the typical hero trope, thinking this might make her a better heroine in the end, but then she ended up with a role in the grand scheme of things, she remained undeserving, which she only ended up taking on through the circumstances of birth.
There would be no homecoming.
