Work Text:
In short, Sirius Black was a complete and utter arsehole.
He was an arrogant, entitled prat, he never cared about grades, never did so much as to look vaguely in the direction of a book when it came to studying, yet he still managed to come top of almost nearly every class, a complete nuisance to his professors, constantly landing himself in detentions for not knowing when to shut his mouth, or for whatever elaborate prank him and James had pulled off.
He was infuriating.
But that made him all the more endearing.
That ‘Sirius Black charm’ as Remus had heard several other students mutter under their breath after Sirius had gotten away with something that had any other student even attempted, they would be deducted 10 house points and given a weeks detention, the way he always had a slight smirk on his face, his bark of a laugh, the way he tossed those voluminous raven black curls over his shoulder, the sparkle in his eyes when he was planning something particularly mischievous.
And Remus couldn’t get enough of it.
He knew that it was stupid, everywhere Black went he would have girls fawning over him, clinging to his arm, and trying to convince Sirius to accompany them to Hogsmeade. If he wanted a girlfriend, he could get one by simply asking the first girl he saw, but that wasn’t the case. Sirius hadn’t had a girlfriend since 2nd year and that didn’t seem to be changing any time soon.
“Remus?”
Shit.
Marlene, Lily and Mary were all sat in front of him, having finished their breakfast. They were waiting for him to respond to whatever it was they had asked him,
“Oh uhh,” Remus felt heat rising from his neck, his eyes were darting between the girls, he could see Marlene suppressing a snort.
“Remus, we were asking you if had finished the charms essay? It’s due tomorrow.” Lily said slowly, like he was an old man who had gone slightly deaf.
“Umm yeah I think so” he replied, voice breaking slightly, he suddenly became extremely interested in his toast.
He had not finished the essay, he had started it, however, every time he sat down to complete it, Sirius would walk into the Gryffindor common
room to do something or another and Remus’ mind would lose focus quite quickly.
“Could you help me with mine then?” Marlene asked, still grinning, “Flitwick might skin me if I hand in any more late work”
Great.
Marlene knew, of course she did, Remus had always been a great liar, until it came to him.
He nodded quickly, trying to wolf down the rest of his breakfast, however, his throat had turned into sandpaper.
“Amazing, how about the library? Just after potions?” Remus could tell she was enjoying herself, Marlene was revelling in his mortification, acting like his stupid thing with Sirius was the greatest thing since Ziggy Stardust and was using it as an opportunity to tease Remus as much as humanly possible, he would have found it hilarious if it hadn’t been him she was tormenting.
He nodded, still refusing to meet the girl's eyes. Marlene gave a noise of approval, and the girls hurried off, leaving him to his thoughts.
Liking Sirius was as natural as breathing to Remus, Sirius overwhelmed his senses, he was sight, seeing Sirius felt like seeing a god, perfectly sculpted in all the right places, he shone like the stars themselves, you couldn’t help but stare. He was sound, his silky voice, his music, his laugh, every sound Sirius made was intoxicating. He was touch, every time their hands brushed, or their shoulders touched Remus could swear he felt fireworks dancing underneath his skin.
Sirius was everything
