Chapter Text
HAWKMOTH
“The Miraculouses of the Ladybug and the Black Cat will give you the ultimate power, the ability to rewrite reality with a simple wish.” A small, roundish, fuzzy purple thing said.
“Really…so could it bring someone back to life, for example?” A large shadowy figure said as he stared at a picture of a short, dark haired lady.
“Well yes, but master, you mustn't make the wish! It’ll cost too much in return!” The purple thing protests
“I don’t care about the cost, anything to make sure my daughter has a mother! Nooroo, dark wings rise!” The shadowy figure yells out.
______________
ADRIEN
“Adrien, wake up honey! You’re going to be late for school” Adrien’s mom yelled up
“Coming” Responded the 15 year old boy from under the sheets
He ran downstairs and happily ate the pancakes his mother made for him.
“So…you’re going to start high school today, huh? I swear just yesterday you were in diapers” Emilie Agreste told her son.
“Well, I am nervous” Adrien answered, and he truly was “but Alya, Nino, and the others will be there so it’s not like I’ll be all alone”
Emilie smiled. She was quite happy that her son had good friends. There was nothing else a mother could hope for.
They heard the doorbell ring, and Adrien took it as his cue to leave.
“Bye mom!” Adrien called
“Hey dude” A brown skinned boy calls to him. Adrien’s best friend, Nino. He was still wearing that red hat of his (the one he started wearing to cover the nasty haircut the barber gave him in 7th grade, Adrien was sure he’d never take it off now) and his dark rimmed glasses.
“Where’s your dad?” Alya asks him. Adrien noticed that she looked different. She still looked mostly the same, same brown skin, same mole on her face, same glasses, but her hair…
“Oh, he was called early to show some designs to the company. By the way, when did you dye your hair?” Adrien asked quickly.
“Last summer, like it?” Alya asks
“Well, I’d say orange might be your colour” Adrien responds
“Oh ya, bad news guys, CHLOE will be at our school. And Pierre.” Nino tells them, disgusted
“Oh great” Adrien sighs
“Well, it won’t be too bad since I’m here” Alya tells them
Adrien honestly couldn’t thank Alya enough, since she moved to Paris in 8th grade, bullies have been practically no problem for them.
“Ya” Adrien agrees “something tells me that high school will be a lot of fun”
Suddenly, an old man with a cane started to walk across the street. He was really tiny, Adrien thought. Then it hit him.
Adrien ran over there and pulled the old man away from the street.
“Careful sir” Adrien tells him
The old man looks up at him, and smiles.
“Tell me, young man, what do you think of cats?” The old man asks
Well, that was a weird question.
“I think they’re pawsitivly awesome” Adrien tells him
Oh god, that pun sounded better in his head.
He turned a bright shade of scarlet and started stuttering apologies to the old man who told him not to worry, then he ran back to join with Alya and Nino who pretended to have not noticed anything.
Adrien thought he’d made it out unscathed until they’d reached school and Alya said
“You know, sometimes I wonder why a guy as good-looking as you has never had a girlfriend, but then I witness moments like that and remember.”
Adrien’s cheeks turned red as he stammered a defense before Alya laughed and told him that she liked him better as a dorkus anyways.
______________
MARINETTE
Marinette knew it was pathetic how much she looked forward to going to school.
Well, it wasn’t just that, her father had told her so much good news she thought he had been lying.
She was going to go to a school, not just any school, but her father’s old high school. Which meant it was a public school, in Paris. She could finally live permanently in one place for once.
Not that she wasn’t going to miss Shanghai, New York, Venice, London, or Barcelona, but at least she’d get to stay somewhere permanent for once!
So that’s why she was grinning from ear to ear. She didn’t even care if it would give her wrinkles like that old lady manager said. She’d finally have freedom.
Even if she did have to deal with CHLOE.
Marinette had no idea why her father had finally allowed her to go to school. The only reason she could come up with was fear of her becoming lonely after her mother’s death.
That was technically the truth, although she did have friends (or frenemies in Chloe’s case) in Nathaniel, Luka, Juleka, and Zoe. And Kagami…sort of? She never could figure that girl out.
She finally arrived at school, and she looked out the window. It was a pretty average school to be honest, but she was happy she’d get to experience high school like all those movies. She’d make friends, go to parties, maybe even have a high school sweetheart!
Oh, what 15 year old wouldn’t be happy about this!
She opened the door, quickly turned her grin into a face masking all emotion, and left the car.
“Bye Mr. Gorilla” She told him quietly.
Mr. Gorilla smiled and drove away.
Marinette took a deep breath, and started walking towards the school. Then she noticed an old man who had fallen down.
She ran over and helped him up.
What was she doing? She was going to be late, and if she was late, she’d be in so much trouble!
“Thank you young lady, I was lucky you were here” The old man tells her, than walks off
Marinette blinked. What the heck was that about?
Then she remembered that she’d be late, and quickly started to run to class.
Once inside, she was greeted by a hug from Chloe, who then pulled her aside and told her to stay away from this guy named Pierre.
She then was led around the school getting told about all the kids who were going to be in her class that Chloe had been to middle school with.
“Oh, that guy over there’s name is Nino. He’s always wearing that stupid hat all the time, I have no idea why. Oh, see that girl over there, her name is Alya, and she’s SO NOSY! She should mind her own business. Oh, and that guy next to her is Adrien, it’s been agreed by almost everyone that he’s the best looking guy in the class. I’d date him if he wasn’t such a loser, or friends with that Alya brat!.” Chloe rambled.
Marinette looked at the trio that Chloe seemed to care so much about. They were likely very interesting. Her gaze kept on lingering on the blond boy – Adrien she thinks his name was – well, she’d seen countless supermodels, actors, singers…you get the gist. He was nowhere near as attractive, but for an average boy, he was cute she guesses. She wouldn’t have even been surprised if in another universe he was one of those celebrities…
The boy notices her staring at her, so she looks away quickly. His gaze remains, and Marinette feels like she’s being burned by his green irises.
He waves at her, then stops halfway, blushes, and looks away.
“No way, don’t tell me you LIKE that loser. I told you, he LOOKS good, however, he acts like a doofus.” Chloe tells her before dragging her away.
Chloe’s ginger friend Sabrina only nods during this entire time. She had been left to carry their bags (she had insisted in the case of Marinette) and Marinette felt sorry for her. Well almost, there was only so much pity you could feel for someone like this.
Marinette really wishes Zoe was here as well, but Zoe lives with her father and goes to a school in New York, besides, she was still a middle schooler.
But she’d even rather sit next to Kagami than Chloe.
It took her about a half second to realize that Chloe bullies the kids here.
Chloe bullied some of their rich kid friends too (Nathanial being the biggest victim) but she couldn’t go too far when there were their parents watching.
Here however, she had free range to do whatever she liked.
The teacher introduces herself as Ms. Bustier and the class starts.
Some guys get into a rumble (something about a poem of some sort) and the bigger guy gets sent to the principal's office. The 2 boys who had been bullying him got off scot free, of course.
After class she walks over to them and yells at them for being jerks.
“Do you think you can just get away with that? Fat chance!”
“You don’t have much room to talk, you’re friends with Chloe” The smaller guy tells her, then they both laugh.
She glares at them but stays silent. They’re right and she knows it. She walks away angrily.
She notices Adrien staring at her. Well let him stare, she thought.
____________
ADRIEN
Adrien was pretty sure he was catching feelings for the new girl, which he found ridiculous for a number of reasons. She just got here, she was friends with Chloe, and he hadn’t even talked to her yet.
But when he felt eyes on him and he looked up at her, he was pretty sure everything else went silent. She was beautiful, with long straight black hair, a handful of freckles on her pale face, and dark eyes that seemed to be attempting to hide a lot of sadness.
Of course, just then he’d assumed she was just a (very pretty) rich snobby brat, but then she stood up for Ivan! She had to be a good person somewhere.
When he’d told his best friends this at lunch, they laughed at him.
“Dude, you JUST met her, plus, she’s friends with Chloe” Nino tells him
“You’re just infatuated. Though I’m not surprised you like her, you’d fall for any pretty girl you meet.” Alya tells him
Ok, that wasn’t true. Adrien had not fallen in love with Chloe or Alya before. Or any of his female relatives. And anyone too young for him.
Shut up.
Adrien knew this was going to happen, so he just sat there eating his spaghetti.
Although when he got back to class, he spotted her and Chloe putting gum on Adrien’s seat.
Nino looked over at him like “I told you so” before he sat down.
Adrien was pretty mad about it, but decided it wasn’t worth getting too mad about, so he sat in Ivan’s seat.
He was still at the principal’s office for some reason.
Just then, a loud BANG! Could be heard.
Adrien could hardly remember anything else, just that they had to evacuate as there was apparently a “supervillain” outside.
“This isn’t Spiderman. Supervillains aren’t real” Adrien told Nino simply.
Alya had (in typical Alya fashion) ditched them to run over to the large rock monster the teachers called a supervillain.
Adrien was sure she was going to get herself and the rest of them all killed one of these days.
They were all sent home for the rest of the day.
Emilie and Gabriel were very worried about Adrien when he got home.
“Oh thank goodness you’re safe!” They said as they hugged their son.
“Ya, it didn’t get me,” Adrien told them.
They decided to let him go back to his room.
Now, if Adrien was destined to forever be a normal boy with a normal life, he would’ve spent the rest of the day finishing rewatching Hunter X Hunter and playing Minecraft with Nino and Alyx.
However, the universe had other plans, which is why he was standing face to face with a small, black, hairless cat.
“Hey kid” The cat said “The name’s Plagg, Qwami of destruction.”
Adrien backed away slowly.
What the heck is going on?
______________
MARINETTE
Marinette’s first day of school didn’t go as planned.
First, she spent the whole time with Chloe, and it seemed to make people hate her by extension.
Next, Chloe had decided to put gum on that blond boy’s seat because she wanted to teach Marinette that she was better than him or something. She thought it was ridiculous, so she tried taking it off, only to be caught. So now that guy probably thinks she’s a bully as well.
Then a giant rock monster started causing havoc in the school.
She was picked up almost immediately afterwards, and was afraid her father would never let her outside again after this.
When she got home, a small, red, dotted creature was floating in her room.
“AHHHHHH! It’s a bug! A mouse! A bug-mouse!” She screamed as she hurled things at it.
“Don’t be scared, my name is Tikki, Qwami of creation. And I’ve chosen you to be my holder” The creature told her
Marinette managed to catch the creature inside one of her trophies.
______________
ADRIEN
“Wait, so you give me super powers? Like, I’ll be a real life superhero?” Asked Adrien, incredulously
“Yup, you can destroy whatever you touch after shouting “cataclysm” and activating your power. I’m the Miraculous of the black cat, so TRY and be creative for a name for once.” Plagg tells him
“How about Chat Noir?” Asked Adrien
“You know, I shouldn’t have expected much better from you. I’m pretty disappointed my instincts told me you were a good choice, I even insisted on it. The master wanted to do several tests for you.” Plagg told him “listen Adrien, I’ve been used by some of the greatest Princes, Princesses, Queens, Kings…well let’s just say you’re nowhere close to their level. They had clean bedrooms at the very least.”
“Hey!” Adrien yelled out “my room’s fine”
Truthfully, it wasn’t TOO bad. There were only like 5 pieces of clothing on the floor, and his trash can was only full, not overflowing.
“Whatever, my point is you need to be aware that you’re going to be holding immense power. You’ll transform after yelling out the words ‘Plagg, claws out’ and–”
“Plagg, claws out!” Adrien yells out.
“Wait, no! I haven’t finished explaining!”
______________
MARINETTE
Marinette could not believe her ears.
She had been chosen to be a superhero, that stone monster was a villain, she had the power of creation.
“I can’t be a superhero! I’m not even allowed outside! And why would you choose me?” Marinette asks Tikki
“I’ve been watching you for a while now, and I think you’ll be perfect! You don’t have to worry, you won’t be doing this alone. You’ll have a superhero partner!” Tikki tells her
“NO WAY! Absolutely not!” Marinette yells
“Come on Marinette, haven’t you always wanted to be free? Well here’s your chance. All you have to say is ‘Tikki, spots on’ and you’ll have all the freedom you’ve ever dreamed” Tikki tells her
That was a hard offer to refuse. Ok, perhaps she’ll do it this one time.
“Fine, Tikki, spots on” She says tiredly
Suddenly, the little creature disappears, and she’s dressed like a bug.
Great.
She simply just left the house, her father was still busy so he wouldn’t be able to check up on her. She left a note on the ground saying she went to Luka and Juleka’s house just in case a servant came and checked on her.
She trusted that they’d bail her out for at least a while.
She was struggling to swing around with the stupid yo-yo she had. Who ever thought of this weapon?
It turns out it was also a mode of transportation, and a terrible one at that. She swung around, hitting buildings, until she hit a person.
It was this blond haired boy in a dark costume similar to hers.
Her yo-yo tied them together.
“Oh…urg” She struggled to say.
“Well, we haven’t even met and you’re already falling for me” The boy tells her
She was pretty shocked, no one had ever had the guts to flirt so shamelessly in front of her.
She somehow managed to get them out of there and back on the ground. The boy introduces himself as Chat Noir, her hero partner.
“And who are you?” Chat Noir asks her
“Uhh…I’m…Ma-m-madly clumsy.” She tells him
“Well then clumsy girl, let’s go beat that supervillain.”
______________
ADRIEN
This hero partner of his was awesome. Sure she was kind of clumsy, but it was honestly kinda cute.
When they met the supervillain, Adrien had acted like a doofus and tried to show off his power. He incinerated the goalpost in the soccer stadium, but then couldn’t use his power on the monster.
“And you’ll transform back in 5 minutes” The clumsy girl tells him
But there was no need to worry, since she managed to trick the monster with her “lucky charm”. It was a wet suit that she attached to a hose. Then she throws Adrien at the monster and catches him.
She grabs herself and the wetsuit and the monster catches them in his second fist, dropping a purple ball thing.
She yells at Alya (who Adrien had just noticed was there…my goodness Alya…keep yourself safe for once) and Alya turns on the hose.
The girl then breaks the ball and the monster turns into Ivan.
Alya then asks for the girl’s name who answers “Ladybug” and then she swings away.
Alya starts fangirling over this girl.
Adrien goes up to her.
“Please stay at home next time” is all he can manage to say.
She looked at him like he was crazy.
All in all, he thought it was a pretty great day. He wondered if he’d ever be able to see that girl again.
______________
MARINETTE
Marinette never wanted to do that again. It was bad enough embarrassing herself in front of a cute boy, but then she told the whole world to call her “Ladybug”.
What was that name? It was so bad.
“Well Marinette, I think you did a pretty good job all things considered…hang on…did you remember to capture the akuma?” Tikki asks
“What now?” Marinette asks
“The reason why Master sent out the Ladybug and Black Cat Miraculouses was because they can purify akumas – those purple butterflies that turn people into superheroes. Or villains in this case – so did you or Chat Noir purify the akumas?” Tikki asks
Marinette’s eyes widened in horror.
She decided to tell Tikki that she should’ve never gotten a Miraculous, and took off her earrings.
