Jimin sat crosslegged on his bed, phone in hand, scrolling through social media mindlessly. He was alone in the bedroom. His roommate, Hoseok, was visiting his friend overseas, leaving Jimin with the room to himself.
Jimin sighed and shut off his phone, feeling bored. He stood up from his bed and wandered into the kitchen, seeing if anyone was out there. He frowned when he found the kitchen and tv room empty. He sat himself down on the couch, and pulled out his phone again. It was already past midnight.
He jumped slightly when the front door opened. It was Yoongi. Jimin hadn’t even known that Yoongi was out of the dorm. Jimin smiled at Yoongi, glad to finally have company. “Yoongi! Where were you?”
Yoongi turned his head to look at Jimin, and a fond smile spread across his face. “The bar,” he said, simply. His voice, Jimin quickly noticed, was thick with intoxication. Jimin also noticed that Yoongi was gripping the doorframe tightly to keep his balance. Jimin’s smile turned to more of a teasing smile than the one he had before. He stood up from his place on the couch.
“How much have we had tonight, Yoongi?” Jimin said, walking over to him.
Yoongi’s face was flushed red, which Jimin secretly found adorable. “Not very…” Yoongi started. “I mean- not very much.”
Jimin tilted his head at him, still smiling. “Convincing,” he said, sarcastically.
“Jimin-ah,” Yoongi grumbled in a much louder tone of speaking than he usually used.
“Yes?”
“I’m really happy… really nice to see you, Jimin-ah.”
Jimin scoffed lightly. “Let's get you some water, okay?”
Yoongi frowned. “I’m fine,” he whined.
Jimin took his arm, and started guiding him to the couch. “You need to sit down,” he said. After helping Yoongi onto the couch, Jimin walked to the kitchen and got a glass of water.
Yoongi took the cup and sipped from it.
“Why are you so drunk tonight?” Jimin asked.
“Bartender's fault,” Yoongi grumbled, then laughed softly. “He recognized me. He said… he told me he was a fan, you know? So we got to talking. He kept giving me drinks on the house.” A lot of his speech slurred together into one big word. He set the cup of water on the coffee table.
“Ooooh,” Jimin said. “Was Suga getting hit on tonight?” he teased.
Yoongi brought his hands to his face, hiding behind them. “No,” he said.
“Was he cute?” Jimin asked.
“Not…” Yoongi trailed off, before restarting his sentence. “Not as cute as you.”
Jimin was silent, taken aback for a moment, before recovering with a laugh. “You’re drunk,” he said. He could feel the heat in his face, but hoped Yoongi was too drunk to notice.
“Yep,” Yoongi said, laughing. Jimin smiled. It was a cute laugh. Yoongi had one of the most endearing laughs out of anyone he had ever met. “Jimin-ah?”
“Yes?”
“Do you… like anyone?” Yoongi looked up at Jimin, a mischievous smile on his face.
Jimin flushed even more, but did his best to stand his ground. “Yoongi, don’t say anything you’ll regret in the morning.”
Yoongi pouted. “I’m not- not stupid! I’m actually smart! Like, smarter than you definitely.”
Jimin laughed. “Yeah?”
“Yeah,” Yoongi said. “No offence.”
“Hey, none taken,” Jimin said.
Yoongi laughed quietly, then leaned his head on Jimin’s shoulder. “Lets just sleep here,” Yoongi mumbled.
Actually, Jimin would really like that, he thought. He would like it more than anything. He sighed. Yoongi was drunk. He had to remember that. “You would like that?” Jimin said.
“Yep,” Yoongi answered. He rubbed his head further into Jimin's neck, sending heat through his whole body. “I really would.”
Jimin smiled. He decided that at this moment, he didn’t care about how embarrassed Yoongi would be in the morning. He was really just happy to be here with his inebriated friend that he was definitely not into at all. His friend that he only found adorable in a platonic way. His friend that made him blush anytime they were together. His friend that was driving him crazy just laying on his shoulder right now. “You don’t usually like sharing beds,” Jimin said, his voice slightly unsteady.
“Not with Seokjin or Taehyungie,” Yoongi said. “They take up too much space. Namjoon snores, Hoseok is a total blanket hog, and Jungkook moves around way too much.”
Jimin paused for a minute, not sure how much he wanted to push. “How about me?” he asked softly.
“I never minded sharing a bed with you,” Yoongi said.
Jimin's heart jumped. “Really?”
“Yeah,” Yoongi said. “So let's sleep here, okay?”
Jimin didn’t say anything. He just spent a moment enjoying the warmth of the person sitting next to him. He felt the softness of Yoongi’s hair on his neck. He felt the soft rise and fall of his breath. Yoongi placed a hand on Jimin’s thigh, and Jimin’s heartbeat skyrocketed. His breath caught in his throat, and he stood up suddenly. He was even more taken aback when Yoongi let out a whine.
“Wha-” Yoongi started to say.
“You’re drunk,” Jimin said.
“What? Why do you keep saying that?”
“You should get some sleep,” Jimin said. “You won't even remember this in the morning.”
Yoongi messily folded his arms. “Nuh-uh. I will so-”
“Yoongi,” Jimin said. “It’s time for bed, okay?”
Yoongi pouted, then stood up, wavering once on his feet. “Fine.” He took Jimin’s hand, and staggered over to Jimin’s bedroom, and opened the door.
“Woah,” Jimin said. “What are you-”
“I’m sleeping in here,” Yoongi said. His sudden strong persona fell for a moment. “I mean- I mean, if that's okay with you I guess.”
Jimin paused for a moment, then sighed. “I mean, I guess that’s fine. Swear you wont tell Hobi.”
Yoongi smiled and put a hand to his heart. “Swear.”
“Fine,” Jimin said. “You’re lucky Hobi’s not here- what are you doing?”
Yoongi had climbed into Jimin’s bed. “Going to bed,” he answered snarkily.
“I thought you were going to be in Hoseok's bed.”
“Shut up and get in,” Yoongi grumbled.
This night kept surprising Jimin again and again. Before he could really think about it, he was getting into bed with Yoongi. “You’re gonna kill me in the morning.”
“No I won’t,” Yoongi mumbled. He laid his head on Jimin’s chest, hugging his side. “You’re warm.”
Jimin didn’t respond. He didn’t know how to. His heart beat at a million miles an hour. Stupidly, and without thinking, he blurted out, “can I touch your hair?”
Yoongi was quiet for a moment, before nodding.
Jimin reached up and stroked Yoongi’s hair. It was soft. Yoongi’s hair was always soft. Yoongi sighed, the sound heavy in his throat, and Jimin chuckled softly at its resemblance to a purr.
“What?” Yoongi asked.
“I just think you’re cute,” Jimin said. He brought his hand back down to his side.
Yoongi, much to Jimin’s surprise, let out a whine. “Why’d ya stop?”
Jimin’s chest tightened at how bizarre and cute this whole situation was. He reached his hand up and continued to pet Yoongi’s hair.
“Jimin-ah.”
“Yeah?”
“I really, I mean really, like you, you know that?”
“Yeah, I know, Yoongi.”
“You make every day better.”
Jimin smiled softly. “Thanks, hyung.”
Yoongi pulled somehow even closer into Jimin’s side, tightening his grip on him. “I want to spend every day with you, okay?”
Jimin chuckled, still petting Yoongi’s hair. “Okay, Yoongi.”
“You’re warm,” Yoongi mumbled.
“You already said that,” Jimin said, softly.
“Oh. Well, it’s true.”
For a moment, the only sound was breathing. Jimin closed his eyes. He could get used to this. He was so grateful for this night.
“Jimin-ah.”
“Yes?”
“You’re so lovely. Do you know that?”
“Uh-” Jimin said. He wasn’t used to this version of Yoongi. Not that he didn’t enjoy it. “I guess,” he said. “Thanks, Yoon.”
“You’re so handsome and pretty.”
Jimin flushed for what felt like the millionth time tonight. “Yoongi you can’t say things like that.”
“Why?”
“You’re gonna wake up tomorrow and regret it,” Jimin said quietly. His heart hurt slightly as he said it, but he knew it was true.
“I won’t,” Yoongi said. “Because it’s true. You are handsome.”
“You need to go to sleep, Yoongi.”
Yoongi sighed, but didn’t say anything. After a few minutes, Jimin was sure he had fallen asleep. Jimin himself was on the verge of sleep. The warmth and the soft pressure of Yoongi’s head on his chest made him tired.
“Jimin?” Yoongi said. Even with his quiet tone of voice, Jimin jumped slightly. He really thought Yoongi was asleep.
“Yes, Yoongi?”
“I love you.”
Jimin’s heart squeezed in his chest. He wished so badly that Yoongi was sober and saying these things to him. He trailed his hand down Yoongi’s head and on to his back, stroking up and down softly. “Go to bed, Yoongi.”
A while later, Jimin was about to fall asleep. His hand now rested motionless on Yoongi’s back. Jimin sighed and closed his eyes. “I love you too, Yoongi,” he whispered.
Yoongi was already asleep.
The morning came quickly. Too quickly, for Jimin’s tastes. He was the first to wake up, still hugging sleeping Yoongi close to his chest. He smiled. What a night. He started rubbing Yoongi’s back again, mindlessly. Yoongi stirred softly, letting out a cute little groan that Jimin found completely adorable. Jimin was looking down at Yoongi’s face when his eyes opened softly.
They met eyes, sleep still thick in Yoongi’s. Jimin watched as Yoongi’s expression quickly turned to fear. He shot up to a sitting position. Jimin grieved the warmth and the closeness.
“Jimin, I- I’m so sorry,” Yoongi stuttered.
Jimin forced himself to let out a care-free sounding laugh. “It’s okay, hyung.”
“I was so drunk,” Yoongi said, hurriedly. “I’m so sorry if I made you uncomfortable.” He wouldn’t meet Jimin’s eyes.
“You didn’t,” Jimin said. “It was honestly endearing.”
“Okay, good,” Yoongi said. “I really am sorry.”
“It’s all good, swear. No one has to know,” Jimin said.
“Thanks,” Yoongi said.
“You told me you loved me.” Jimin didn’t know why he said this, it was just something he said without thinking.
Yoongi slipped out of Jimin’s bed. “Sorry,” he mumbled.
Jimin was shocked to catch the sight of tears in Yoongi’s eyes before he turned around. He sped to the door.
“Hyung!” Jimin called out.
Yoongi didn’t turn around. “Yes?”
“Hyung, come back. Sit down.”
Yoongi took a breath, then turned back around. Jimin confirmed that his eyes were really wet with tears. Yoongi sat down again on the edge of the bed and fidgeted with his hands.
“What’s happening?” Jimin asked, kindly.
“I can’t tell you,” Yoongi said. “It will ruin everything.”
Jimin’s heart jumped in his chest. “What will?
“Jimin,” Yoongi said, finally meeting his eyes. “Oh, Jimin.”
Jimin blinked back at him, waiting for what was going to happen.
“I- fuck. I really like you, Jimin.”
Jimin’s throat closed. He felt like time had stopped completely, though Yoongi continued.
“I like everything about you. I like your laugh, and your smile, and your eyes, and how incredibly kind you are. Jimin-ah, I… I guess I just really like you. I’m so sorry,” he looked away again. “I’m so sorry about last night and about this and about everything. I just couldn’t-”
Without thinking whatsoever, Jimin reached for Yoongi’s chin and pulled it up. He tilted his head slightly, and kissed him. Yoongi kissed back, gently, obviously surprised. Jimin pulled back. “Yoongi-”
Yoongi didn’t waste any more time. He leaned in again and kissed with a ferocity that surprised Jimin. Yoongi pulled back for a moment. “Jimin, is this really okay?”
In this moment, Jimin needed Yoongi more than anything. He nodded. “Yes. It’s more than okay.” He put his hands in Yoongi’s hair and fell into him, kissing him hungrily.
Yoongi grunted into Jimin’s mouth, which made Jimin smile for a second, breaking the kiss.
“Jimin,” Yoongi said. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Jimin said. “I love you so much, you have no idea.” Yoongi looked up at Jimin, and Jimin realized he was crying now. Jimin caressed his face. “You’re so fucking precious,” Jimin said.
“I need you,” Yoongi said. “Kiss me. Please.”
Jimin leaned in again. He liked the way Yoongi kissed. He mainly let Jimin take control, which was endearing to Jimin. Yoongi trailed his hands under Jimin’s shirt, making Jimin shiver. Jimin pulled away again. “I love you,” he said. “I love your gummy smile and the way you smell, and the way you talk. I love everything about you. You’re so funny and cool and kind. I love you.”
“I love you more than anything,” Yoongi said. “I love you so fucking much that I didn’t know what to do with myself.”
Jimin wrapped Yoongi in a hug, holding him tight. “I love you, Yoongi.”
“I love you too, Jimin.”
