time turner

Summary:

Geto Suguru was gone. Gone. Just gone. Disappeared to who knows where.

Well, common consensus was that he didn't just disappear. He destroyed an entire village, kidnapped two kids, and made it pretty clear that he was planning on killing all humans.

Gojo didn't care. He would deal with this. Somehow. He was the strongest. He would not lose his best friend. Ever.

After all, if he couldn't even save Geto, could he save anyone?

Chapter Text

Gojo Satoru lay sprawled across his bed, his feet hanging off, blanket not even covering him. He didn't care about the discomfort of his position, nor the fact that he hadn't left his room in a day, two days? Who knew? Who cared. Well, maybe Suguru would have cared.

No -- what was he saying. Of course Suguru would have cared. If he was here...no. He needed to stop overthinking. Suguru was simply on a mission. He would be back in a couple of days and then everything would be back to. Fuck. Who was he lying to anyway.

"Gojo", he heard a voice yell, followed by aggressive banging on the door. Shoko. Of course. Just great. He reached for his pillow, grabbing it from where it was on the floor, covering his head, trying to mute her out. Shoko really needed to learn when to fucking leave him alone. He loved Shoko, he really did. And she was one of his best friends.

That didn't mean he wanted to talk to her, or anyone right now. Anyone but Suguru. Satoru winced, as his brain involuntarily decided to replay their last conversation.

Suguru stared at him, his eyes cold, lacking the warmth they'd once had, before looking away. "If you want to kill me, kill me", he'd said. "There's meaning in that too."

Suguru's last words to him. Those ridiculous words. "WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU MEAN, HOW COULD I KILL YOU, ASSHOLE", Satoru screamed at the wall, throwing his pillow yet again before flopping down once more, refusing to look up, even as Shoko, accompanied by Nanami broke into the room.

"Get out", he mumbled, sensing that Shoko was about to say something. "Get out, get out, I don't want to talk to you, tell Yaga to fuck off if he wants anything, oh, please get out."

Shoko ignored him, enlisting a reluctant Nanami to drag Satoru out of the bed as she spoke. "Gojo, you haven't eaten in almost a week, and you need to..." Shoko swallowed, hesitating before she continued, as Satoru's stomach churned with...anger? Pity? Disappointment?

He wasn't sure. But seriously, how was everyone just moving on with their lives. HOW? HOW? Sure, the elders, even Yaga, Mei Mei, Utahime, hell, he could probably create some reasoning for why Nanami didn't care, but Shoko?

Satoru stopped fighting Nanami's unenthusiastic attempt to drag him out of bed and sat up, brushing his hair out of his eyes, staring at Shoko. "Do you just not care?"

Shoko's jaw hardened, staring back down at Satoru. "Gojo", she began, "he made his choice. Yes, I miss him, yes, I wish he hadn't left. But we can't do anything about it. And even if we could, starving ourselves and refusing to move isn't doing anything about it."

Satoru glared at her. "You know, Shoko, you sound like the elders right now. Fucking ordering an execution without thinking twice, not caring. Do you fucking know what he said to me? What the last thing Suguru will ever say to me was?"

--

Ieiri Shoko was fighting her expressions to stay neutral, sympathetic. Gojo was taking this much harder than everyone else. Yes, she missed Geto, but Gojo was completely ignoring Geto's last actions. He massacred an entire fucking village. He...well, believe it or not, he wasn't their friend Geto anymore, no matter how hard it was to admit.

She didn't want to fight with Gojo. Not right now. So, she responded, "No, Gojo, do you want to tell me what he said", as Gojo decided to pretend he couldn't here her and stomped out.

Well, he was out of his room. She had to take that as a win.

--

Shoko followed Gojo as he stalked down the halls, appearing to be moving towards the cafeteria. Thank goodness. He could eat something, and then he might talk to her and--

"Ieiri-senpai", Nanami spoke up, startling her. "Maybe...", he hesitated, looking nervous, which was quite rare for the first year, who's expression was usually tired or irritated. "Maybe we could try tracking down Geto-senpai", he blurted out to Shoko's shock as she quickly shoved Nanami into the empty classroom and slammed the door.

"Be quiet", Shoko hissed at him. "Everyone's on edge here, especially the elders. One wrong move, and they'll have us down as accomplices in the massacre and..."

She mimicked cutting of her head, and Nanami nodded solemnly, returning to his normally quiet voice. "It's just...Gojo-senpai might be better if he's able to accept what happened. And I think that speaking to Geto-senpai once more will show him that Geto-senpai isn't Geto-senpai anymore. I know it doesn't make sense--"

Shoko cut him off, nodding. "I'll think about it. Don't breathe a word to anyone", she snapped, leaving the room. It was a useless threat, since Nanami was the last person to say anything to anyone, but she just felt the need to say it. She wasn't sure why. Maybe it was because she'd normally threaten Gojo and Geto. With Geto gone, Gojo wasn't really Gojo anymore. He'd locked himself up immediately after Geto had left - hell, he hadn't come out till today, 6 days later. Maybe he'd return back to his usual cheerful, annoying self, but...Shoko was sure that the shadow of Geto would hang over them, and well, threatening Gojo to be silent about something just didn't sound right. Threatening Gojo and Geto to be silent? That sounded right. And thinking about this was definitely not right.

Maybe Gojo was right, and she should be feeling worse over Geto's defection. No. She was just allowing that idiot to gaslight her. She felt bad. Geto was her friend too. But she was a doctor. Feelings in a time of crisis weren't going to help her. They would slow her down.

Thinking about this figuratively, Gojo was her patient. She was his doctor. She had to cure him of his pain. She had the answer, whether she liked it or not. The nurse had just handed her the vial of medicine needed for the cure. She just had to administer it.

Who knew administering drugs would be this fucking difficult.
