Chapter Text
Whoever that person was, wasn’t Dark at all and Chosen knew that, shielding the kids as best he could from Dark’s attacks. Victim deflected the flying debris that came their way. “We can’t dodge him forever, we either need to start doing damage, or knock him out long enough to run.”
Chosen looked up in disbelief. “He’s still my partner, I can’t hurt him!” he exclaimed. Victim, grabbed him with his lasso to move him and the CG out of the way from an oncoming blast.
“I know how much you want to believe that, Chosen, but unfortunately, Dark is a killing machine right now and you still don’t have your powers. If we don’t do something soon, he’s going to kill you and anyone that stands in his way.” He explained.
Chosen didn’t want to admit it, but Victim was right. Second looked up at his brother with fear in his eyes. “Chosen..I can’t let him hurt you. Please, we have to do something..” He pleaded. The older deeply sighed, glancing over at Dark, who met his eyes with nothing but a bloodlust.
Chosen stood up, fists clenched at his sides. “I can get through to him. I’ve done it before, just keep him busy to where I can get to him.” He instructed. Victim’s eyes widened in shock. “Chosen, that’s a suicide mission, you can’t be serious!”
Second stood up as well, taking a shaky breath. “I believe him. It’s worth a try.” He said. He was scared, sure; but it was their next best choice. Second turned to face his friends.
“ya’ll heard him guys. I know we’re all scared right now, but distract Dark as best you can so Chosen can get to him. We can do this!” He encouraged.
Green was the first to stand up, despite being the most injured. Then everyone else followed suit, including Purple. Mango went to grab her but stopped himself, standing next to her. “If we survive this, you’re grounded.” He said. Purple nodded, glancing at her dad. “Yes sir.”
The CG and Victim started running towards Dark, dodging attacks while getting his attention at the same time. Green ran up closest to Dark, waving his arms. “Dark! C’mon man you gotta calm down! You don’t have to do all this!” He tried to reason.
Dark scoffed, firing up a blast. “What part of get outta my way do you little shits not get!” He yelled. Green very narrowly avoided the attack, landing on his side with a gasp of pain.
Blue ran over to him. “Green!” She looked up at the hollowhead, eyes widened with fear. “Please, Dark! you have to stop!” She pleaded. Victim grabbed Dark with his lasso, pulling on it tightly to keep him from moving.
“This isn’t getting us anywhere! Where the hell is Chosen!?” He strained out. Just then, Chosen leaped over Victim and grabbed onto Dark, pulling him down to ground level and pinning him down. “I’ve got him, everyone go!” He ordered.
Everyone moved to a safer part of the field, Red having to pull Second along. Mango and Victim moved in front of the kids, protecting them. Dark strained against the person on top of him, bitterly laughing. “Aww look, the fallen angel wants to be a hero! How adorable~” He taunted.
Chosen strained to keep the other in place. “Dark. You know this isn’t right, you have to stop and come to your senses!” He tried to convince. Dark laughed once more, easily breaking out of the hold and flipping them over so he was pinning Chosen down, wrapping his hands around his throat.
“Y’know, you’ve always been a pain in my ass since we first met. I should’ve never put up with you for all these years and I’ll be glad to finally kill you just like I was always meant to do!” He said, hands tightening their grip.
Chosen coughed and choked, trying to form words as he flailed. “Y-You don’t..m-mean that..” he choked out. Second couldn’t stay still anymore, starting to thrash against Red’s hold. “Stop!! You’re killing him, please stop!!” He screamed, going ignored as Dark chuckled bitterly, tightening his grip until he couldn’t grip further.
Chosen gasped for air that wouldn’t go into his lungs. His hand fished inside his pocket until he found the small stone of obsidian, shakily pulling it out as tears fell from his eyes. “Dark, p-please..I k-know you're still i-in there..” He gasped.
Dark barely faltered when Chosen’s hands held his face. “I-I’ll always l-love you..” The other strained out before his eyes shut, body going limp.
Dark’s head started to throb in pain, eyes flashing to show his objective had finally been completed. When he finally came back to, he looked down and gasped in horror, hands immediately leaving Chosen’s throat.
He started to tremble, eyes filling with tears. “No..no,no,no,NO,NO!!” He screamed, desperately starting to grab onto Chosen anywhere he could, hyperventilating.
Tears started flooding down his face as he openly sobbed. “I’m sorry!! Please, please Chosen, I'm sorry!!” He sobbed out, curling in on himself.
The others stared on in horror, most starting to cry. Second froze for a few seconds before breaking out of Red's hold and starting to run towards Dark, screaming out in pure rage.
His eyes were glowing a fierce lime green and he would've killed him if Mango didn't grab him. “You monster!! I'll fucking kill you I swear!! How dare you, you murderer!!” He screamed out at the top of his lungs, trying to break out.
Red, Yellow, and Victim all had to hold Back Second, who was thrashing around. “Second Calm down, it's okay! Please!” Red begged.
Green, Blue, and Purple were crying in each other's arms, Green covering both the girl's ears as he looked away. Mango held Second tightly. “Kid, calm down!” He yelled.
Second's screams dissolved into harsh sobs as he collapsed onto his knees, clinging to Red and Yellow. “You m-monster..!” He sobbed out.
Mango finally let go and walked over to Dark, who was clinging onto Chosen and sobbing, mumbling ‘I'm sorry’ over and over. The older kneeled down and placed a gentle hand on the limp man's pulse.
He sighed in relief when he felt a pulse; it was faint, but there. Mango grabbed Dark's shoulder, tears brimming his eyes. “Hey, hey. It's okay Dark, he's still alive..” He comforted.
Dark shot his head up, looking at Mango. “I-I didn't..k-kill him..?” He shakily asked. Mango shook his head and brought the younger in his arms. “No, little spider, you didn't..but we have to get him to a hospital so he can get better.” He explained.
Dark weakly shook his head, hugging Chosen closer. “N-No..no hospitals..I-I have s-stuff at our h-house, but no h-hospitals p-please..” He begged.
Mango rubbed his back to calm him further. “Alright kid, no hospitals..” Victim stood up, walking over. “I have some equipment at my workplace that I can lend as well..” He suggested.
Mango nodded. “Appreciate it.”
After The kids mostly calmed down, Dark and Victim took Chosen back to their house and Mango took the kids back to Alan's PC, deciding to let Purple stay the night and to not ground her.
They've been through too much already.
Dark gently laid Chosen on their bed, starting to attach an IV drip to his arm and making sure he was still breathing. Victim grabbed an oxygen tank and mask that he grabbed from work on the way and placed the mask on Chosen's face, turning the tank on to give him air.
The grey hollowhead looked over at Dark in worry, seeing that he was still holding back sobs. “Do you want me to stay?” He asked. Dark slowly shook his head, gabbing his partner's hand. “I need to be alone..” He muttered. Victim understood and gave the other a reassuring pat on the shoulder before leaving, closing the front door behind him.
Dark sniffled, feeling new tears fall down his face. “Please come back..” He weakly cried out.
Mango quietly sighed, bringing a few blankets into the main area for the CG. He draped a blanket around Purple, Red, and Green, making sure it was the softest one before passing out the others. “I'll stay as long as you all need..” He said.
He gave the kids a once over, making sure he patched all of them up well enough. “Do you think you can stay the night..?” Yellow shakily asked, tears trickling down his face. Mango walked around the couch and kneeled in front of the boy, wiping his tears.
“I sure can buddy..I'm not going anywhere..” He soothed, looking around and seeing the other kids start to cry as well. His heart ached seeing them all so beaten up; they're just kids after all.
Blue quietly whined and reached out for a hug, which Mango gladly gave, picking her up and sitting on the couch. Second sniffled and leaned into the man's side, burying his face in his arm.
The others all leaned into each other, letting themselves finally relax now that they knew they were safe. Mango sighed, wrapping his other arm around the hollowhead. “It's gonna be okay..”
