Chapter Text
Many years ago, Zaun was a small community within Piltover.
But tired of the tyranny of the Topsiders, Vander and Felicia, as leaders of the Zaun rebellion, decided to conquer Piltover and unify the entire kingdom.
They succeeded, and after a few years of reigning, they had Violet. Their first and only child, and they couldn't have been happier.
However, despite the real progress they achieved ruling together, they still lived in a society where men held more privileges than women. Therefore, it was expected that they would have a son, or that Violet would be betrothed to a man, as soon as possible.
The current King and Queen of Piltover decided to break with these established norms and proclaimed Violet the heir to the throne, declaring her the future King of Piltover, without needing a man to rule.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Years later, your Majesties and their heir had to travel to Ionia to maintain the alliance with their kingdom.
And at 17, Vi and Caitlyn fall in love.**
After a period of courtship, viewed with both approval and disapproval by different people, the young lovers speak with their parents about marriage.
Both parties agree it's a wonderful idea and a great opportunity to strengthen the ties between their kingdoms. But the King and Queen of Ionia have one condition:
That Vi first ascend the throne and secure a bright future for their daughter, as the new Queen of Piltover.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A few years later, Vi, now 23 and King of Piltover, asks Caitlyn's parents for her hand in marriage, and they finally agree.
They return to Piltover, accompanied by Caitlyn's adopted brother, Jayce (who is a bit older, maybe 26).
They marry. They rule together and they live in love.
Some years later, they decide to ask the gods or some other kind of magic to bless them with a child, an heir, and the fruit of their love.
Which they ultimately grant. And Vanderus is born when they are 30.
Now with a baby and a bright future for Piltover, they couldn't be happier.
But all good things must come to an end.
War against Troy erupts, and Vi is forced to join the fight with 600 of her finest warriors, both men and women. Leaving her wife and son behind in the hope of returning home soon...
Now, the story begins.
