Chapter Text
You wake up.
There’s a terrible rumbling in the air, like the entire world is trembling. The cave around you that you decided to shelter in for the night rumbles as if caught in the middle of an earthquake, the dust lit by a mix of green and red-orange light from your high charge, likely a result of that nightmare you just escaped.
You decide to take a look outside, mostly out of curiosity but partially out of concern. The cave is complicated, but you know it well. As you're expecting to see the warm sunlight, the lack of it unnerves you. Instead…
Oh. That’s a vortex. A really big vortex in the sky.
That doesn’t seem good.
Well, surely it can’t be any worse than the time that the Sun and Moon fought it out, or the time that giant black cloud possessed everything, or whatever happened a month ago. You didn’t get a good look at that one.
Given the gravity and how hard it is to keep your position against the vortex… no, you’d say it’s worse. It pulls against you, your nonsolid form struggling against the force. It pulls you in- Wait up!
Oh stars, that was disorienting. You’re okay though… but where are you now?
“Wait, no no no, who are you?”
There’s nobody with you… who are you talking to?
“You. I know you’re there.”
Wait, me? I’d understand some invisible being, but you can’t possibly mean-
“Yes, I do.”
Okay… that makes things complicated.
Well, you can just call me the Narrator. It will make things easier.
“Okay…”
You seem to not trust the one speaking to you. Not that you should be able to see them in the first place.
“Sure…”
So you continue on, in this new place. Large mountains reach towards the sky, with what seem like the remains of an abandoned town. There’s waves crashing against the rocky shore, leaving a thin mist on the coast, and large ravines tearing deep into the ground. While the environment isn’t completely unfamiliar to you, it sure isn’t home.
“Well, can we please find our way back?”
I suppose if that’s what you want, you can pursue it.
So, you’re trying to find your way back home, to all of the people that you know, maybe love. It’s a noble goal.
“You don’t seem to care about it.”
Well, maybe if you’d be patient, I’d have a chance to tell you where to go.
