-Vi-
“So, do you wanna go out?”
“As in… be girlfriends?”
“Yeah! I mean, if you want.”
Caitlyn looked at Vi as if she had suddenly grown three heads. “Are you being serious right now, Vi?”
Vi scratched the back of her head sheepishly. “Well, yeah!” She gave a nervous chuckle. “I mean, we have a lot of fun together and you’re really hot, Cupcake.” Vi looked at the ground, self-conscious. “I-I thought it was a good idea, anyway.” She cursed herself internally for her stutter.
The few moments where Caitlyn said nothing and continued to just stare at Vi were agonizing. Had she really read the situation that badly? Was Caitlyn that insulted by the idea?
“Vi,” she said, her voice low, “I was already under the impression that we were a couple.”
Vi almost fell over from her shock. “What? When the hell did that happen?”
Caitlyn laughed. “A while ago! We had just come back from that party, and I had to practically drag you back to your place since you were so drunk.” She laid a gentle hand on Vi’s reddening face. “You had said you ‘loved me a whole lot’ and then you threw up and passed out on the couch.”
Well. That was embarrassing. “Cait, you really think I remembered confessing to you like that? I practically died from alcohol poisoning that night! All I can remember was the hangover from Hell the next day.”
Caitlyn nodded. “That’s a good point. But still, we’ve been acting like a couple since then. I just… didn’t think it was necessary to explicitly say that we were officially ‘girlfriends’. It’s… a little embarrassing to be frank.”
“Well how do you think I feel? I just asked you out!”
Caitlyn moved her face close to Vi’s and gave her a kiss that lasted for a few moments before pulling away. “I would love to go out with you, Vi.” She smiled. “There. Does that satisfy you?”
To be honest, the kiss alone had her over the moon. It didn’t seem to matter how many times they did so – it always made Vi unspeakably happy. And that smile! The other woman was so beautiful and breathtaking that Vi almost couldn’t believe she was real. And now she was agreeing to date her? Yeah, Vi was definitely satisfied.
“I guess that works for now,” Vi replied, not wanting to seem too giddy.
“Oh? Still trying to play it cool, even now?”
Vi grumbled good-naturedly. “Same goes for you. Smile any bigger and your perfect little face might crack, Cupcake.”
Caitlyn laughed. “So, my face is ‘perfect’ to you? That’s quite a compliment, Vi.”
Vi wrapped her arms around Caitlyn’s back bringing her closer. “Of course it is. I have high standards, you know.”
“Oh, don’t I know it.”
The two kissed.
