Work Text:
Dabi honestly never found himself to particularly Like Shigaraki. Compared to the rest of the group, he wasn’t there for a united goal, so what reason did he have to care about the guy? He was merely a useful tool for his plans. He was in fact, frequently annoyed by his boss. If he didn’t work under Shigaraki he’s sure they would have killed one another by now.
They disliked each other.
“I wonder how your ‘master’ is..” Dabi hummed, sitting besides Shigaraki. The other was wearing a hand, it wasn’t unusual but after seeing Shigaraki’s face he didn’t understand why he still wore it.. otherwise, Shigaraki was normal. Well, he was scratching insistently at his neck.. more than usual, actually. That had been normal for the past few.. hours, days.. since All For One and All Might had a battle. He didn’t get Shigaraki much.. why did he care about that guy so much.. “..” silence met Dabi’s remark, which was.. odd… “Answer me..” Dabi poked the hand covering Shigarakis face, immediately having his wrist held in place by 4 fingers. “Don’t touch the hand, Dabi..” Shigaraki murmured, letting go and returning to scratching at his calloused neck. “That’s the first thing you’ve said in a while.” Dabi remarked, about to speak gain but paused, noticing Shigarakis neck was bleeding. It wasn’t a lot, but.. there were various small injuries. Clearly from his.. scratching.. “Do you have lice? Stop that. Calm down.” Shigaraki persisted. “Damnit, stop it.” Dabi took hold of one of Shigarakis hands. “I will turn you to dust if you don’t let go, Dabi.” Shigarki glared through the gaps between the fingers. “You’re hurting yourself, idiot.” Dabi let go of his hand, staring at him. “..What, do you miss the guy?” Shigaraki froze briefly, before his scratching became for insistent. “Damn..” Shigaraki moved his hands away. “You’ve got me figured out, Dabi..” Shigaraki muttered, before continuing, blood smearing on his neck.
Dabi didn’t hate Shigaraki. But he knew more about him than he would have liked to. Shigaraki wasn’t secretive around the group, Dabi knew that Shigaraki had trouble- no scratch that, he had no memory of his childhood. Shigaraki never elaborated on this, besides a brief comment to Toga and Twice. Dabi didn’t care to pry, but it did interest him.
Shigaraki was interesting.
“Dabi..” Shigaraki called, motioning for Dabi to come closer. “What?” Dabi leaned against the wall. “Come here, I have an idea..” Dabi sighed, sitting on the ground beside Shigaraki. “What’s your Idea, Fleabag?” “Don’t call me that.” Shigaraki removed the hand from his face, turning to Dabi. “What if we.. Wait—..” Shigaraki froze, scratching at his neck. “I..Don’t remember..” Shigaraki persisted. “Calm down.. it’s fine.” Dabi leaned back. “Stop scratching yourself.. it’s weird.” Shigaraki had wide eyes, scratching aggressively. “Do you always do that when you’re stressed..?” “I’m not *stressed* I’m frustrated.” Shigaraki held the hand he previously removed, putting it back on his face. “Im tired.. Leave me alone, Dabi.” Shigaraki continued. “..Whatever.”
Dabi didn’t like Shigaraki, the others did. It was weird. They doted on him so easily, Spinner especially. He didn’t see a reason to like him. He was rude, childish, and just.. weird, though maybe Dabi was too. He didn’t need to like Shigaraki though. He just needed to put up with him.
They tolerated each other.
“Shigaraki, you fine?” Dabi tilted his head, looking down at Shigaraki. Dabi didn’t care much but seeing Shigaraki sit on the floor, wearing a black hoodie as he ran his nails along his neck was.. off. I mean, the guy had been doing better recently. “Go away, Dabi.” Dabi sighed. He’d rather not leave, with his boss on the verge of destroying this entire building because he was upset. “You and Spinner should play something together, I don’t know.” Dabi trailed off. He didn’t.. really get comforting. He could blame that on Endeavour, but he’d rather not think about the bastard right now. “Im not in the mood for games, Dabi.” Dabi was going to give up, but honestly.. this wasn’t boring, even if he wasn’t good at it. “What *are* you in the mood for?” Dabi looked up at the ceiling. “..Not your voice.” Dabi smiled slightly, Shigaraki *was* funny, even if he was.. acting like this. He could give him that.
Dabi didn’t know how this happened. He wasn’t supposed to get attached to anyone in the league of villians, let alone his boss. Shigaraki, of all people. He didn’t know how he ended up feeling so intensely about Shigaraki, the worst part was Shigaraki returned the feelings. His plan was getting fucked up all because of feelings. He felt unbelievably immature.
He shouldn’t have kissed Shigaraki, and Shigaraki shouldn’t have returned the favour.
Shigaraki was.. annoying.
Shigaraki was wonderful.
Dabi was in love.
