Kissing Practice

Summary:

Han Yoohyun didn’t care if he was delusional. He’d make his delusions a reality with time, patience, and a lot of kissing practice.

Work Text:

“You don’t have an interest in anybody?” Han Yoojin asked, rolling around Han Yoohyun’s office on his stolen office chair. “Really? Not a single soul?”

Han Yoohyun was busy looking out the top-floor window, watching the city beneath him.

“No,” he said concisely. “Why would I?”

“Because…” Han Yoojin said like he was stupid, “... I want you to get married, have kids, and be happy, you know?”

“I’m never having kids.”

“Then just get married. Or, hell, date around. Do something other than brood in your office all day,” Han Yoojin argued. “What about Kang Soyoung?”

Han Yoohyun’s expression darkened. “No.”

“Is there a problem with her?”

Yes. She’s not you.

Han Yoohyun turned around, leaned against the window, and looked at his older brother. He came up with a quick story, one that would surely get him off his back, while also not lying to his brother.

“I have no experience,” he said. “I’d make a fool of myself no matter who I’m with.”

Han Yoojin stood up, and the chair slid back a few feet. “Bullshit. You had a girlfriend in high school, I saw her.”

“That was a friend,” Han Yoohyun answered, still telling the truth. They’d messed around a bit, but never dated.

“Then get to know someone, and they won’t be mad at you if you’re new to it all,” Han Yoojin said sympathetically. “That’s what I did!”

Han Yoohyun’s thoughts came to a screeching halt. What did that mean? He knew every movement, every workplace, and every social bond his brother made before their relationship was repaired. He had no significant others, much less one-time lovers. Han Yoohyun would know.

“What do you mean?” Han Yoohyun said carefully. “That’s what you did?”

Han Yoojin blushed. “I. Um. Before the gates appeared, I had a boyfriend, if that’s what you’re wondering.”

He’s lying to my face. Asshole.

“So you know how to kiss?” Han Yoohyun asked, tilting his head to the side innocently. He was going to play up the kind, sweet baby brother card hard.

“Of course!” Han Yoojin responded with a dismissive wave of his hand. “Of course, of course. It’s not hard to learn.”

“Then show me,” Han Yoohyun said calmly. “Please?”

Han Yoojin’s face went bright red, starting from the bottom up, like a thermometer.

“That’s—” Han Yoojin stalled with a long pause. “—No, why?”

“Because you know how and I don’t,” Han Yoohyun reasoned with a pitiful expression that said, oh, please, help your clueless brother. “Think of it like mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. There is nothing weird about it. Just show me.”

Han Yoojin, the older one but always the cuter one, furrowed his brow. He looked so conflicted. Having near-absolute trust in Han Yoohyun was key because it meant the younger only had to push him a little further to get him to agree. Then, finally, he’d know what his brother’s lips tasted like.

“You’ll really be helping me out,” Han Yoohyun pushed. He smiled. “Please?”

“Well,” Han Yoojin said, “when you put it that way, I guess it’s not so bad…”

“Great,” Han Yoohyun couldn’t wait any longer. “Then stay still.”

Han Yoojin let out an undignified sound as Han Yoohyun leaned down and got into his space. Face cupped by large, capable hands, Han Yoojin’s eyes closed instinctively, and that was the correct reaction. Han Yoohyun didn’t need him to see his face, hungry and eager, as his older brother let him kiss him.

When he finally placed his lips over Han Yoojin’s, his first thought was, “He tastes like green tea.” Earthy, grounded, a little sweet, a little grassy in the good way. Han Yoohyun pressed closer, inhaling through his nose, smelling the light, gentle scent of Han Yoojin’s shampoo and conditioner, and the lotion he used on his skin, soft underneath his hands. Han Yoojin tasted good, and now Han Yoohyun felt horrifying fear that he’d never get to try this again.

But he knew he had to be patient. He had to condition his brother—convince him that this was right, that they were supposed to end up together. And he had to keep him away from that infernal blonde, Sung Hyunjae, who eyed Han Yoojin every time they were in proximity to each other.

Yet, Han Yoohyun could not bear to pull away from Han Yoojin. Instead, he kissed him harder, pushing the boundaries of their bond further, and further, and further until Han Yoojin seemed like he was going to break. Only then did Han Yoohyun pull back with a contemplative look on his face, as if he’d learned something.

“I can see the appeal, I suppose,” Han Yoohyun said, keeping his face thoughtful. He wanted to lick his lips and savor the taste of Han Yoojin. Instead, he kept them straight.

“It’s better when you get used to it,” Han Yoojin said stiffly. His face was still red, like he couldn’t believe what had just happened.

Han Yoohyun gave him a broad smile. “Well, you’ll have to help me another time, then!”

“You can’t find another partner?!”

“Who else would keep this a secret?” Han Yoohyun countered. “I can’t go around kissing people at random. Think of the rumors that would spread.”

Han Yoojin was gradually calming down. “I… fine. If you say so.”

“Good,” Han Yoohyun said, letting his brother go for now, “see you later.”

He had other things on his mind, now. Namely, acquainting himself with his right hand in the privacy of his office. He needed Han Yoojin to leave, now.

“Alright,” Han Yoojin said, his face now its normal color. “I have a meeting with another guild, soon, to discuss phenotypes for their desired mounts. I’ll see you after.”

That eager?

Han Yoohyun didn’t care if he was delusional. He’d make his delusions a reality with time, patience, and a lot of kissing practice.
