Work Text:

The Enlightened One, Buddha. Who is currently making the newest chapter of ‘Enlighten Yourself, Ananda!’ . He never speaks much when he is drawing or focused on something.

The Son of God, Jesus. Who was looking at Buddha draw but then got bored of staring. He couldn't update his blog right now because there's nothing to do.

“Buddha..!!” Jesus whined and shook Buddha slightly and messed up his line work.

Buddha groans and looked at Jesus and suggested, “We could play Old Maid or a game of cards.” “No!” Jesus exclaimed almost immediately, “I want to solve something. I want to try something new and different.”

“Oh? Like what? We could get those math solving books for children.”

Jesus groaned at the suggestion of that, that's not what he wanted, instead..

“You know those where you connect pieces before you get the whole picture?” Jesus tried to explain what it is but only came out as vague and slighty misunderstood.

“Oh! Those puzzles? We could try, we must start off easy first.” Buddha added.

“I want to challenge myself today!” Jesus said determined.

The weather outside was particularly warm today so most of the neighborhood were outside, playing or looking around at the scenery beyond the sun.

And as always, Buddha's arch nemesis were there as well. The neighborhood kids continued their mission to poke at Buddha’s urna.

Even though that served as an obstacle, They arrived to the nearest store safely that sold puzzles (hopefully they have one for saints like them hehe)

Wandering around the store, rattling boxes whenever they could, Buddha and Jesus found puzzles they could do.

“One hundred pieces! I could do this.. with Buddha of course!” Jesus thought.

“Two thousand pieces? This is all they have. I can do this.” Buddha thought.

Both of the puzzles were cheap, the final price being below ¥ 7,000.

They went home and unboxed the unsolved problem within. This was Jesus's and Buddha’s first time doing a puzzle but I'm sure they'll do it well.

Buddha began with the edge pieces before starting within the puzzle while using the box cover as a guide and reference to put the pieces where they belong.

Jesus did the same thing as Buddha. Starting with the edge pieces before starting within. What Jesus did is trial and error. He took a piece and took another to see if they fit each other.

Jesus groaned and said, “Is mine too hard? I-I mean its only one hundred pieces! Why am I struggling? Yours is two thousand pieces and you're halfway done!”
He then looked at Buddha, composed and calm.

“If you keep on complaining, you'll never learn.” Buddha spoke.

“If we finish this, where do we put it?” Jesus asks.
“We could take it apart and do it again if we're bored.”
Buddha suggests.

Jesus couldn't agree or disagree on that so he just continued on with his puzzle.

And so Buddha finished his puzzle and looked over to Jesus. “I could help if you want. You've been stuck on the corner pieces for a while.”

“Thanks Buddha..”
“No problem.”

Minutes passed and Jesus was awfully quiet. He hasn't spoken in a while since Buddha offered help. As soon as Buddha looked beside him, Jesus was already sleeping.

“Hm..?”

Buddha looked around the room, the floor was covered and there was no place to put the futons.
So Buddha just laid the blanket on Jesus, carefully removed Jesus’ crown of thorns and continued on with the puzzle.

The next day, Jesus woke up and saw the floor neatly cleaned, futons placed as they were and Buddha slept relaxed. Beside the sleeping Buddha were the completed puzzles.

“I'm sure Buddha is extremely tired from doing that all night. To thank him, I'm going to make breakfast for him!” Jesus thought and left the apartment, leaving Buddha to sleep.

Once Buddha woke up from the fragrance of vegetable soup. He sat up and waited for Jesus.

“You're awake! You slept this entire morning!” Jesus chuckled. “Also thank you for completing the puzzles..i made the soup as my thank you.”

“You shouldn’t have!” Buddha laughed.
