Chapter Text
It's the first day of university. There's a subtle wave of dread in the air, at least that's how it feels for Gojo. He always felt like this moment would be as amazing as it looked like in film. But the reality was not so picturesque, he looked all calm on the outside but he could feel everyone's eyes on him. I mean who wouldn't stare, he's Satoru Gojo. But a part of him felt the fear of messing up his curated persona. He had to make it, or else he can't be a Gojo, an heir to it all.
He missed the familiarity of his hometown, the population of his university looks like it could outdo the small part of town where he grew up. That made him feel his stomach do a back-flip , a sense of fear mixed in with happiness. New people is all he ever wanted, he grew tired of everyone acting a certain way towards him because of his family. In a town where everyone knows you it's hard to take a breathe without someone else being in a 5 mile radius taking in account of your existence.
But in a metropolitan city, Gojo can be himself. His past and his name won't hold much of a flame next to these big city lights. He walks into orientation giving the mentor who lead him a smile and she blushed slightly which gave Gojo more ego to add to his character. He spots a very familiar hairstyle but he doesn't know if he's having some intense sense of nostalgia or if that is the same long hair he used to stare at in high-school.
The same hair that he used to braid, the one that he loved when it was tied up into a bun. He shakes his head and took his seat ignoring the familiar sight of onyx coloured hair. But as everyone was talking with their seatmates since they all had their own assigned tables. He heard a laugh, that sound was too familiar to his ears. He had heard that laugh more times than anyone else could've. his head snapped to identify whether or not his mind was playing tricks on him and there he was. Suguru Geto.
When their eyes met , there was a sense of familiarity in that stare but both of them turned away acting like they didn't know one another. But that would be the biggest lie, acting like they were strangers but only they know the truth.
Gojo fits in easily, like he always does. He laughs at the right moments, keeps the conversation moving, and by the end of lunch it feels like he’s known everyone at the table for longer than a few hours.
One of the guys casually brings up the Kappa Void—a popular frat house, the kind most guys eventually end up joining anyway. Without really thinking it through, Gojo shrugs and says, “Yeah, why not?”
He always does this, he thinks distantly. Agrees first. Regrets later.
That afternoon, while they’re signing up, the same guy, Jayden, glances at him and asks, “Dude, why do you wear brown contacts?”
Gojo freezes. Just for a second.
Shit.
“What?” he says, playing dumb. “What do you mean?”
But Jayden’s expression doesn’t change. He already knows. There’s no confusion there, no guessing—just certainty. Gojo exhales through his nose, the effort of pretending suddenly exhausting.
“…How did you know?”
"Well, my dad's an Ophthalmologist, and as much as I'm a party animal. He molded me into becoming a pre-med student, so we practice staring at human anatomy more than others." Jayden says with a shrug.
Gojo sighs, "So, it's not obvious right?"
"Not really man, but why are you hiding your real eyes." Jayden says with confusion.
After signing up, they both walk to their room. They're both roommates because they requested it and paid extra for it as well. When they're setting up their things Gojo removes his lens. He keeps his eyes closed and says, "Where i was from, my eyes were rare so i hated when people called me weird because of it." And with that his eyelids fluttered open an Jayden felt like he got mesmerized.
Jayden has always felt like the straightest man. But for once in his life, he felt like he just got stuck with how ocean blue Gojo's eyes were. "They're fucking stunning man!" That's the only thing Jayden said in awe.
"Dude, don't fall for me now i already have enough fans as it is." Gojo deadpans with a smirk. He felt like he had gained more confidence too walk around with his natural eyes because it seemed like people around here had coloured eyes. He wasn't the only one.
Jayden just throws a pillow at Gojo's face. They both laugh, Gojo felt like maybe he rushed and made this decision to join the fraternity but having Jayden as a roommate seems like life finally let him breathe after being stuck in a cage for so long.
After, they set up their rooms. Gojo walks around exploring the house, as he walks down the staircase he sees him. Geto Suguru. Just as he felt like life was bestowing some grace on him, that was all just an act to lure him into temporary happiness. He exhales through his mouth, and calmly just says "Hey."
And the reply he gets is a nasty stare accompanied with words that felt like they were full of venom, "Ugh, why did you have to join this frat."
"You know, i was trying to be nice but i was wondering why on Earth you're here."
"Fuck off, Gojo. You don't get to dictate everyone's actions. Did you mistake me for one of your house servant? Oh myy…" Each word was so sarcastic it filled Gojo up with rage. Geto never fails to make Gojo loathe him more and more every time he speaks.
Gojo just puts up his middle finger and walks away. But then he hears a horn sound and a loud voice say, "Calling all newbies to the dinning hall NOW!!" Everyone gathers there to see a few men up on the table, who Gojo assumes is the frat president and maybe vice president?
"Listen up you fuckers, my name's Daniel and I'm the president. This is Henry and he's the vice president."
ding, ding, ding, Gojo thinks to himself.
"Tonight is the welcoming party for all the new members. We are strictly against hazing so you guys an feel free to tell if there's anything bothering you to Henry. Just enjoy the party and be prepared for the welcoming ritual!" They end this announcement with boisterous laughter which seems concerning in Gojo's opinion.
Jayden quietly says to Gojo, "We are definitely getting hazed tonight." Gojo nods and just shrugs saying "It's alright, i bet we'll survive."
As everyone mingled with one another, one of the guys, Gojo doesn't remember his name but he has blue highlights in his hair. "Hey, so both of you went to the same high school."
Geto says, "Oh but we weren't friends so we don't really know each other." and gives a look that say play your part to Gojo.
"Yeah, we just saw each other around but i think this is the first time we're actually talking." he says with a laugh as they shake hands putting on this facade that they are just acquaintances.
