Work Text:
Noah jumps slightly at his door swinging open to reveal his boyfriend standing in the doorway, holding a Walmart bag with a huge smile on his face. Noah slowly closes his book.
"Hi. Thanks for letting me know you were on your way," he says sarcastically as Cody shuts the door before walking over to him and sitting down.
"No problem," he responds.
Noah rolls his eyes at that. "What is that?" He asks, pointing to the bag.
"Okay, so," he starts, pulling the one item from the bag. It's a package of soda-flavored lip balms. Noah raises an eyebrow. "I found this, like, game on tiktok."
Noah waits for him to elaborate. He doesn't. "That being..?"
"Let me just show you," he says, opening the package. "Close your eyes."
"Why?"
"Cause it's part of the game, man, just do it," he says, to which Noah reluctantly complies. He can hear him taking out one of the lip balms before feeling his hands on his face. "Okay, open."
Noah opens his eyes, raising an eyebrow at their new position. "So..?" He asks. Cody doesn't respond verbally, instead just connecting their lips, trying not to smile. Noah is, of course, a bit surprised, but also not exactly displeased. Before he can react, though, Cody's already pulling away.
"So?" He prompts with a smile.
"Wha- so what?"
Cody rolls his eyes, as if it should've been obvious what he was asking. "What flavor do you think I was wearing?"
What? He can't be serious.
"Um, I don't know? I didn't know I was going to be quizzed on this."
"...okay. Well, now you do know!" He says before kissing him again.
This time, Noah isn't surprised. He puts a hand on his shoulder, deciding to humor him by actually paying attention and guessing.
Cody, just as quickly as last time, then pulls away. "Guess."
"Um.. Mountain Dew?"
He scoffs, as if offended at his guess. "There isn't even a Mountain Dew flavored one."
"How the hell was I supposed to know that?"
"Okay, fine. Your turn, then," he says, closing his eyes. Noah sits still for a second. This is stupid. But, then again, Cody seems to be having fun. And, if he's being honest, he doesn't exactly mind making out with him. He sighs, reluctantly choosing the cherry Coke flavor and applying it to his own lips. He leans in, connecting their lips again. His hand moves to the side of his neck before pulling away. The other boy looks up at him before looking to the side.
"..so?" Noah prompts.
"Huh?"
Is he fucking serious?
"Guess, dumbass."
"Oh! Yeah, right, right, uh.. root beer?"
"No," he responds flatly.
"...right. Okay. So, guess that means I should try again, right?" He says, smiling smugly at the other.
For some reason, that was the part that made everything click in Noah's
mind. "Cody"
"Yeah?"
"Why are we playing this?"
"Cause it sounded fun. You're just being a buzzkill."
"...right. I sort of feel like this is just an excuse for us to make out."
"What? Perish the thought," he responds, smiling. After being met with nothing but a deadpan stare, he reluctantly sighs.
"Yeah, okay, maybe that's part of the reason," he concedes.
Despite himself, Noah can't stop himself from laughing softly at that. He stares at the other with a fond smile before quickly schooling his expression to be more deadpan. He clears his throat. "Right. Of course."
Noah rolls his eyes before looking at the other, taking in the soft, slightly embarrassed smile on his face. He can't help but think of how cute his boyfriend looks right now. "Mm.. Well.. I guess I don't really mind too much."
Cody's smile widens at that. "Yeah?"
"Yeah."
Cody smiles, his arms moving around his neck. "So.. Does that mean you wanna continue or?"
Noah laughs softly before nodding, his hands moving to the boy's waist as their lips connect again.
After a few seconds, they pull away for air, looking at each other fondly.
"..mine was Sprite by the way," Cody whispers.
Noah pauses, confused, before realizing what he was talking about. He laughs softly. "Right. Mine was cherry coke."
Cody laughs, leaning in and kissing him again.
