Work Text:
You said you hated Ghost and he hated you. Constantly shouting at each other, hated looks and rough words when ever you guys passed by in a hall way or when you were on missions.
If you asked outsiders they would immediately assumed you actually wanted each other dead.
Harsh jokes that jabbed at each others hearts. When sparring against each other you'd both come out looking like stray feral cats that fought over territory just because. Messy hair, cuts and scratches on your bodies.
So why were you in his arms tonight?
There was dripping water coming from the alley you and Ghost were in after escaping gunfire.
You took a hit, multiple hits to keep him from getting hurt.
It was so sudden, you didn't know why.
He practically had dragged you to the alleyway and everything hurt so bad. Each movement made your whole body tremble in pain, letting out small gasps and pained groans. You were crying quietly, it hurt to even do that now.
"The others will be here soon hang on." Ghost told you, he didn't have any malice in his tone, he couldn't bare to be mean or cruel, not now. "Just breath, you're going to be okay." He continued holding onto you slightly tighter.
A hand putting pressure on the bullet wound that went through your stomach. He made tourniquet with a belt that barely stopped the crazy bleeding from your leg, the adrenaline in your body didn't help.
"It hurts." You gasped, tears freely flowing down your dirty cheeks. "Ghost I- It hurts so much-i feel dizzy." You knew what your body was doing.
"Stay awake." He said firmly, he had the radio in hand trying to get a hold of Price. There was pure static on the other line.
"I'm- i am dying aren't I?" your voice was growing hoarse, lungs stuttering trying to take in oxygen. "I'm scared" you whimpered, you can see Ghost's eyes flicker in panic, his body tensing up more.
"I'm here, I'm right here-God damn it! Price. do. you. copy!?" He yelled, starting to get desperate he threw the radio onto the ground and grabbed your hand firmly "C'mon keep your eyes open sergeant." He said rubbing your hand to keep you focused on something.
"I'm sorry" you muttered "...I- I'm so-so sorry-"
"Give me a proper apology by staying alive soldier"
You started to feel so out of it, almost like you were in a drunk daze.
Ghost scowled and snapped his fingers in front of your face. "Hey! Hey-Just a little longer, they are gonna be here. We will go back to fighting, I'll let you throw me on the mat when we spar" he whispered to you "I'll let you get what ever you want-"
"I...don't want too.." it was getting harder to talk, harder to comprehend what you were trying to convey to the other.
It felt like the air was getting pushed out your lungs and before you know it the pain began to fade.
Huh...
You can barely hear him trying to talk to you. Muffled words and sounds escaped his lips-when did he put his mask up?-
"Stay awake-" he was pleading.
You thought he hated you…
"I love you-" you hear him say.
How your heart was aching. You wanted to repeat it back to him so badly. You wished to convey how you truly felt, maybe you should have listen to the warning they gave you. So little time you thought it was a trick, a cruel trick.
"...sorry..."
It wasn't long before you felt warm, and comfortable. You kept staring at Simon, he was saying something but you just smiled slightly. There was a quiet buzz in your head that got progressively louder and louder, your vision seemed to be static filled. It was like everything just shut down slowly.
maybe in another life your arm wouldn't hang lose and instead be wrapped around the man you grew to love.
