Chapter Text
You had always wanted to go to Pandora, get away from the hell that was earth with its brown and grey sludge, the way that it was hard to step outside without coughing. You had heard stories of its beauty, the way that everything glowed at night, the floating mountains, the sea grass that would wrap around anything they came into contact with. But most of all was the people if you could call them that, the Na’vi, 10 feet tall when full grown, sharp teeth, tails, blue skin, cat ears, but most interesting a queue. A long appendage for the back in the head with the end tendrils that they could attach to anything on their moon and feel everything, feel the plants, bond with the animals in a way humans never could, attach to one another to feel what the other was feeling, hear what the other was thinking. You knew that humans could go to this Pandora via a teleportation device (yes I know that isn't canon however I want Neteyam and y/n to be the same age) which was wildly expensive or a ship in which you would be put into basically a coma for 6 years however that too was so so much money.
You never thought that you would get the chance to go to Pandora however one day your school got a visitor from a marine biologist who was going to go to Pandora and he would take one person with him to go study the Tulkun if they could prove their skills in marine biology immediately you began to study and research and experiment and do everything in your power to get there. The entire time you studied and tried your brother, mother, father and sister berated and insulted you. You bring your studies, your findings to the marine biologist and by some miracle you get in and get to go to Pandora. He makes it clear that if you go you will not be coming back for possibly years but you don't care. You pack up your life and follow him to Pandora, you step out put on the breathing mask expecting to see beautiful oceans with bioluminescent sea grass or possibly the forests with green as far as the eye can see but when you arrive all you see is grey concrete and machines pumping out black smoke into the air making it too grey and muggy.
You began studying alongside the marine biologist so you can study the beautiful creatures, getting your very own avatar so that you can connect with the animals and plant life to better understand and study them. However, it is a forest avatar due to the fact that that's the best DNA they have. Fast forward to when Jake Sully gets captured you and the marine biologist help break him out Jake takes you in because it's not safe there and he will take in all the children he can and takes you back to the Metkayina and his family where you quickly become good friends with his eldest Neteyam. (Bum bum not dead because I find him hot that's why.)
