Work Text:
Everyone in high school knew Atsushi and Taku were together, only because the drama never stopped, especially when Daiki was added to the mix. Taku would be cheesy with Atsushi, he would get both annoyed and endeared, then Daiki would find them and shoo away Taku to have Atsushi all to himself. It wasn’t that Daiki had any romantic interest in Atsushi, he’d rather die than kiss him, but the two just had an incredibly close bond.
And no one really knew why they had such a close bond.
A bit after graduation, Daiki and Atsushi had moved in together, leaving Taku living on his own, and of course visiting every day or so. It was a shock to everyone but the platonic partners. People assumed that the boyfriends would move in together, but instead Atsushi chose his platonic partner. It was normal for lovers to move in together and put their friends 2nd, right? Well, not for these three, apparently.
“Why did you choose to move in with Ikeda and not me, Atsu?” Taku asked, cuddled up with Atsushi as they did nothing pretty much.
In the meanwhile, Daiki was busy drawing his newest commission in the living room. Every time Taku came to visit, the artist would go as far away from them as possible in the apartment and do his own thing, whether that be drawing or taking a nap most of the time, to prevent the disgust he felt when he saw the lovers being all lovey-dovey. He never understood why people needed to be so gross, sharing germs in saliva and touching eachother so much, but if Atsushi needed it he didn’t mind all that much, as long as he wasn’t involved
“Well, it’s more convenient, at least in my opinion. If we moved in together Daiki wouldn’t come over at all unless he knew you were somewhere else to avoid seeing us like this. I can’t lose him like that, we’ve been best friends since we were 8 and platonic partners for around 2 years. And I can’t lose you either, I love you.” Atsushi gave him a peck on the nose.
Neither Atsushi nor Daiki could explain why they were so close, closer than lovers in some circumstances, but they didn’t feel the need to explain it. If lovers didn’t need to explain why they loved eachother, why would the platonic partners need to?
Taku had left, he went grocery shopping to make dinner. The archer always went to the store before 5pm before the after work crowd to be sure he could get everything he needed.
Atsushi went to the living room after sending Taku off to check on Daiki. He was still sitting on the couch, tablet and stylus in hand, focused on his drawing. The pink-haired sat next to him, ruffling his hair briefly, which resulted in a quiet, unserious “ow” from the redhead.
“You don’t mind Taku visiting us, right?” Atsushi asked, uncertainty seeping through his tone.
“Why would I? As long as I don’t have to see you being gross I couldn’t give less of a fuck. We live together, not you and him, which means he can’t take you away from me like in highschool.” Daiki responded, sounding almost possessive of the other. It did make sense though, for most of his life he wasn’t allowed to have anything or anyone his, and him acting this way didn’t really harm anyone as Taku was also used to it.
“Just wanted to make sure, we talked about it earlier so I was a little worried. I mean, I love you both, I don’t want either of you to feel like I love one more than the other. I wish I could explain how I love one to the other, but he’s aplatonic and you’re aroace, neither of you would understand.” Atsushi rambled, he felt safe telling his worries to Daiki because he knew he wouldn’t judge as harshly as most.
“If we’re all satisfied this way, why give a fuck..” Daiki retorted, not caring how blunt it sounded out loud, it was the truth to him.
“You’re right. Anyway, whatcha drawing?”
“Ogura commissioned me to draw doomed yuri again.”
