Work Text:

Tim is about to get in the shower to join Lucy when there’s a knock on the door. He steps towards the shower ready to ignore it. And then the doorbell rings and there’s another knock.

“I’ll be right back babe.” He calls to Lucy. She peeks her head out from the shower. Her hair is wet and she’s looking at him impatiently.

“Hurry up.” She says. “I had plans and I can’t do them myself.” Tim stares at her, his mind going blank. He’s about to forget whoever is at the door but—

There’s another knock and the doorbell and he hurries out of the room. He unlocks the door, takes a deep breath ready to yell at whoever is behind it. When he opens it, he sighs loudly when he sees who it is.

Angela.

Of course.

“You’re an idiot.” She says. “Celina and I do all this work. We get Lucy out of bed to talk and what—”

“Angela.”

“I know you are afraid but this is ridiculous.” Angela says. “You love her right? You want to be with her?”

“Yes.” Tim says and he realizes after everything that happened he didn’t tell Angela. Celina knew because Lucy was moving out but—

“Then why didn’t you tell her how you feel?” Angela asks. “Ask her to move in.”

“Who said I didn’t?” Tim asks crossing his arms. Angela gives him a look and moves over to the couch.

“It seems like nothing has changed.” Angela says. “We worked really hard to—”

“You worked hard to be nosey?” Tim asks raising a eyebrow. “Like that’s hard for you.”

“I told you I would do something if you didn’t.” Angela says. Tim sighs as he watches her pull out her phone. “She’s probably at home—“ Tim shakes his head, and he’s almost about to let this happen.

He’s almost doesn’t want to tell Angela that Lucy is in his shower at the moment which is where he should be.

“She is.” Tim says and he can’t help the smile that spreads across his face. Because Lucy is at home, his home.

Their home.

“Then you should get dress and get your ass down there.” Angela says. “And—” But she’s cut off by Lucy’s voice coming down the hall.

“Babe?” Angela freezes and looks at Tim. “Where are you? I thought—”

“Whose that?” Angela asks. Tim shrugs as he watches Lucy emerge from the hallway. Her hair is wet and she’s only in his shirt. Tim grins as he walks over to give her a kiss.

“We have company.” He whispers. “Angela is here.”

“I see that.” Lucy says. Angela gapes at them both looking between them.

“What is going on?” She asks. “How—”

“You and Celina do have too much time on your hands.” Lucy says. Tim wraps a arm around her waist. “But it worked and we talked.”

“And?” Angela pushes. “Are you two—”

“I’m going to start packing up my apartment tomorrow.” Lucy says and Tim looks at her. He is still amazed she wants this as much as he does. They hadn’t spent a day apart, and had worked out when they would go over and start packing. Tim had already hired movers to help. He just really wanted Lucy here.

“Wow.” Angela says turning to look at Tim and she looks proud. “You did it.”

“Yes.” Tim says. “I did. We did.” He looks at Lucy, and she smiles up at him.

“Why didn’t you let me know?” Angela asks. “I’ve been worried—”

“We’ve been a little preoccupied.” Tim replies giving her a look. He turns away and looks down at Lucy who is playing with the hem of his shirt.

God he loves her.

“Right.” Angela says. “But this news you tell your best friend.” Tim rolls his eyes but he’s smiling as they walk towards the front door.

“I thought you knew.” Tim says. Angela stops just before the door and turns to look at them.

“I’m happy for you both.” She says and then turns to Tim. “Don’t mess it up.” Tim just shakes his head a little, he doesn’t plan on letting Lucy go—ever.

“Thanks for stopping by.” Tim says as she opens the door. “Goodbye.” Angela just steps out the door and he shuts it behind her before turning to Lucy.

“So—”

“Angela is your best friend?” Lucy asks. Tim swallows a little.

“Uh. You know her.” He says. “She thinks I need a best friend and I’m a grown man and—”

“I’m your best friend.” Lucy says pushing at his chest. “Me.”

“Of course.” Tim says quickly. “Of course you are Luce. Who else would be?”

“No one.” Lucy says. “You have known her longer but—” Tim just gathers her in his arms and pulls her up for a kiss.

“You are my best friend Luce. I love you.” He says. He pauses. “You are the love of my life.” Lucy freezes.

“Yeah?” She asks. “You don’t tell Angela that?” Her voice is teasing but her eyes look watery.

“Never.” Tim says. “You are my favorite person, the most important person in my life and there’s no one else.”

“So you don’t regret asking me to move in with you?” She asks. Tim shakes his head. He would never regret that. He just wants Lucy in his space.

“No.” He says. “That’s one thing I will never regret.” Lucy nods and wraps her arms around him.

“Do you regret saying yes?” He asks and he hates asking it but—

“Never.” Lucy replies with confidence. “I want this Tim.”

“Good.” Tim says. “I do too. Sorry about Angela, she just—”

“It’s fine babe.” Lucy says. “I do appreciate her even if she butted into our relationship.”

“She got the ball moving because I was scared.” Tim says and he does appreciate Angela for giving him that little push.

“But you were honest.” Lucy says. “And I appreciate that. I thought you were avoiding me because I fell asleep.”

“No.” Tim says. “I’m just an idiot.” Lucy grins at him and he turns her around to back her up towards the bedroom. They get to the bathroom and Lucy is already starting to undress him.

“Hey.” She says nudging him. “I’m your best friend.”

“Absolutely.” He says and that is the truth. Angela didn’t have to know. “Always. Just don’t mention it to Angela.”

“Good.” Lucy says and she’s all the way undressed. He’s halfway there and he really doesn’t know how he lived without this for so long.

But it doesn’t matter because he never has to live without it again.

She is home. He is home.

Always.
