Chapter Text

“ To Punish the Guilty and Free the Guilt Ridden. ”
Shadows lengthed against the church hallway, silence consuming the claustrophobic hall. The lights rays of hung up lanterns flickered against the plain grey-white walls, sparing small drips of light against the soft wood of the floor. The light brushing the surfaces with a light orange and yellow. Scythe crept up the hall with fear etched tightly on her expression. Abnormal, yes, she'd never let anyone see or view her in such a state. But it wasn't why she was, it was who that made her fear grow like a wilting flower. Her rattle snake like tail was kept in a position that wouldn't make a single sound as she desperately tried to creep back to her room, keeping alert of her surroundings, her eye and head turning sharply at any small sound. She was only mere meters through the hall before the whispers returned like they had nights before. She didn't dare to turn, to look back, to respond. Her pace of slow, careful walking snapped into a sprint as she scrambled to her room. Her breathing fast and erratic, nearly tripping over her feet before gaining her balance with the help of her tail instantly moving into a position to help, collapsing against the wall with a slight stumble. One of her hands slamming against the wall as she hastily regained her balance and sprinting. The voice followed yet faded into silence as she grabbed the handle of her door and slammed it abruptly closed after she entered it. Scythe shakily stood against the door, her hat tilted down to shadow her terrified expression as she looked back towards the wood of the door. Listening intently for anything, any footstep or whisper. Though silence, and her fast, frightened panting of breath, was the only thing that held its place like once before.
