Green looked down at the 4 cards in their hands. Pink watched them, waiting for them to play. Blue studied them intently, rubbing its thumb over the cards in its hand.
Blue always looked so stoic, and Green honestly loved it. They were always perfect to Green. From the way their hair was styled, to the clothes they wore, and the way their eyes gave off a slight cyan glow, it was all perfect. They hoped Blue thought that about themself too.
Green was getting distracted.
He looked down at the Uno cards in their hands, placing down a plus 4. Pink looked at her ever growing number of cards.
“How do I not have a plus?” She mumbled as she grabbed 4 cards. Green looked over at Blue, they were looking at their cards, planning what they were gonna do.
They place down a wild card, keeping the stoic expression on their face. “Yellow.” They say, looking back at Green.
Green looked back down at their cards, realizing they didn’t have a yellow, they drew a card. Pink placed down a yellow 1. Blue smirked, placing down a yellow reverse card. “Uno.” It said, looking over at Pink.
“Reverse back to you!” Pink said, placing a blue reverse.
Blues smirk turned into a grin, their sharp teeth on full display. They place down their last card, a blue 3. “I win!” They said, a hint of excitement creeping into their voice, their stoic expression dropping.
“Aw, what? That's like the 3rd time you’ve won. You sure you aren’t using your quantum abilities?” Pink said, suspiciously eyeing them.
“I’m sure.” Blue responded, pulling up a screen to write in their log of the day. Pink rolled her eyes.
“Sure, imma go find other people to play with that aren’t cheaters.” They said, getting up and walking away.
Blue finished writing in their log after about a minute, just about the same time it took Green to pick up the cards.
“Done writing nerdy stuff?” Green teased. Blue rolled their eyes but gave a slight smile.
“I was adding to my log, not ‘writing nerdy stuff'.” They said, putting air quotes around ‘nerdy stuff’.
“Sure.” Green said, taking a seat next to blue. Blue rolled their eyes again. Green chuckled and lightly flicked its forehead. “Quit rolling your eyes or they’ll get stuck like that.” He said.
Blue grabbed their wrist before they could fully pull away. “Shut it.” They say, smiling that stupid shit eating grin, the one that made green wanna kiss their stupid face. Though Blue would never actually let them do that, their appearance to everyone was very important to them, and apparently their partner showing affection would be ‘not chill’.
Glancing around Green noticed none of the other SQUIPs were looking at them. He leaned over and placed a gentle kiss on its cheek. Once he pulled away Blue gave him a pointed look.
“What?” Green asked, knowing exactly why it was looking at them like that.
Flicking his head they say, “you're lucky no one was looking.”
Blue and Green sat there, playfully bickering and talking for the rest of the day. Before they knew it it was nighttime and Green was asleep, their arms wrapped around Blue’s waist as it finished its log for the day.
When Blue finished they closed their screen and turned to Green. Love might have been one of the many mistakes they made, but they'd be willing to make this mistake again. They curled up in his arms and went to sleep as well.
