Chapter Text
The bright light from the moon shined on my face, the snow enveloped the night, I found myself staring down at the snowy ground, shivering. Gentle snowflakes fell down at my hair, my wings twitching from the gentle breeze, my thoughts were cut off, I looked up. The effulgence of the moon against my best friend, Lego’s dark navy hair was breathtaking and a reminder they needed to start moving. They had to get into the meeting room that was only a few blocks away, my legs moved before my mind, strays were shooting at us. I stumbled in the room, I had built this meeting with my closest friends, Legos and Soupcup. Where was Soup?
Lego had spoken up, “the others should get here soon!”
One by one, people came into the room, first Mort, I knew Mort, he was Lego’s older brother. MRC walked in, followed by Ava, and Abood, my gaze was on these people, some know longer than others. Mort, a creature? He was orange, with an eerie smile, but he was a trust-able, calm guy. Legos was a Japanese snow fairy, her wings clipped. Everyone had already started to talk, making alliances, greeting each other.
I leaned into a chair, the warmth felt like a gentle hug, beside me was Lego. I already knew I was going to be Lego’s advisor. Lego looked at me and gestured to the ground, the chairs were meant to be shared by the Leader and right hand man, that was Mason. I have to sit, sometimes I wish I was her right hand man, I came up with the idea first, but he got that place. Yet my thoughts took over. I was imagining myself in a large castle, writing down notes, while telling Legos about how they should get slaves. Yet my day dreams were cut short, shit, I was staring at Ava, it wasn't a lie, she was a beautiful person. She has short light brown hair in a wolf cut, one to her shoulders, was that some faded red highlights on some strands? God, I glazed her too much, didn't I? Well everyone’s reactions were pretty funny. She noticed my staring and gave me a small smile, I didn't want to seem weird, the words had just blurted out of my mouth before I could even think.
“Hey Ava! I'm the biggest bird right?!”
I got some well deserved side glances, a soft chuckle had come from the girl I've been staring at. I hadn't gotten an answer, well shit, that was awkward. Lego cleared her throat, catching everyone’s attention. I stared at her. She had really pretty dimples. Sometimes I wish I had dimples. She spoke like she had experience, it didn't seem like some script, more like she spoke from her heart. I always envied her for that, she was just so perfect, pretty face, smart, and just, an aura that attracted everyone.
“I think this meeting shall be officially started, this is Lawless, we will be having a PVP disabled free period, anyone who kills or hurts anyone in this duration of time will have a bounty on their head. Many of us have officially made our teams, it seems that many free roamers have created a leaderless union, named?”
Mort and Ava glanced at each other, deciding what they will be naming their society, “Starbursts” was the name that ended up being decided on.
“Starbursts, well we already have our team, the Golden Age Empire, who we have is MRC, FooFoo, Avvy, Mason, and me. Starburst has?
“Semik, Timothy, me, Maxine, and Ava”
Confusion plastered on my face, writing down everything that was said. I am the advisor, I have to write good notes. I had stopped at one point of my notes, ‘FooFoo’? But my name was Luna?
Lego’s had clearly noticed and looked at me, an eyebrow raised. “Is there a problem FooFoo?”
“No, I'm fine, just this stupid feather is running out of ink- anyways, I'm done with the notes!”
“Good, leave the book in the middle of the table.”
“Yes ma’am!”
My gaze drifted to Abood, he said he was making a team with his friends, where were they? I swear I remember Lego talking about how his Unknown Union had fallen before it started. With a count of zero, leaving him alone.
“Is he going solo?”
A simple nod from Lego as I finished up my notes, trying my best to summarize it all while keeping it short, “Lots of the Free-Roamers got together and formed the Starbursts !! There’s no leader, all one happy union society! The unknown-civilization has fallen to a member count of 0... No alliances were formed yet! NO FIGHTING UNTIL 12PM TOMORROW!! ANY FIGHTS WILL BE RECORDED, A BOUNTY WILL BE PUT ON YOUR HEAD, AND YOU’LL EARN THE HOSTILE ROLE. Your group (minus free-roamers) will decide what to do with you. The Golden Age Empire has MRC, FooFoo, Avvy, Mason, and Legos, Starburst has Semik, Timothy, Mort, Maxine, and Ava.”
“Hey wait! Before you guys leave, one last thing, don't at all cost break anything or kill in this room, it's the meeting room for a reason.”
Yet looking up I saw the Starbursts had already left off, did they ever listen? My team planned on staying in the safe zone for a bit, I sat on the crafting table, unable to really give my support. Mason and Lego talked, MRC held a spear, practicing, it seemed like that was going to be his favorite weapon. Avvy was on one of the chairs, swaying her legs, hopping off the crafting bench. I made myself a spear, noticing even mason now had a spear as Lego navigated where they planned to travel.
“Hey MRC, how do you even use that thing? I struggled so much trying to figure out how to properly hit.”
Everything was a blur really, lego planned to go North-East, MRC taught me the basics of how to use a spear, I even got a few hits on him! Boats were made, and we planned to travel on the ice, Mason was on his own, MRC was with Avvy, and I sat with Lego. With our luck, the sky began to fog, and we struggled to control the small boats, causing us to eventually lose each other. We weren't far off from each other so we quickly found each other yet Mason went missing. Lego reassured us that he was smart enough to be able to reunite with us, but would that even be true? Finding ourselves at this simple village, it was cute, a spruce house village, with a coating of snow over the land.
“YO! THIS IS PERFECT!” I yelled, my eyes gleaming with happiness, as I looked back at my team, Avvy was collecting flowers, Lego was making plans, MRC was playing around with his spear.
“Stop being boring!!! Look at this village! So who's getting which house? Oh! Where Mason— wait no, is there even enough houses for us and the villagers? Who's going to share their house?” I had a million unanswered questions, too fast for them to keep up, they all had different plans.
Shuffling from foot to foot I stared into Lego eyes, “sooo, I got my own house?”
“Yes Luna, you can get your own house, i’m going to go get planning”
So that's how it went, I went to decide which house would be mine, Avvy went searching for seeds for us to plant. MRC got started on mining, Lego moved in with MRC starting out to plan, how this village would work out, what we need to get and everything. I spent most of my day shoveling and trying to make the place look somewhat adequate. Shovel in hand, making pathways I noticed my locator bar was going off. I wasn't planning on really ever using it but it seemed like the starburst was getting closer to us…? Ignoring it wasn't the smartest but I continued making pathways and locking villagers in their homes to keep for future uses.
Mindlessly shoveling, I wasn't the best at paying attention to my surroundings, only noticing it was night when a stray shot at me. Rushing back into my house I decided it was best to sleep, falling limp on my bed brought me great pleasure. Curling up on the bed, my wings ruffled, flight was something I can never do, let alone open them up, they were clipped. I never really found out who decided to clipped them, sometimes I wished they never had been clipped, I often yearned to be free from the touch of land.

Time went on, I tried farming yet it was quite hard, the icy air kept freezing the water we didn't have much coal to make into torches. Yet the colors have caught my attention, right we were all given some sort of location bar when spawning in? I never really thought of really using it yet it seemed that the other group was getting closer. I glanced up at Lego's — she seemed irritated, it was a battle between me and my mind. ‘Should I go ask her about it? Maybe I'm just overreacting — I shouldn't bother her about something like this.’
My wariness got the better of me, the sword dropped to the ground with a clank as I strode over towards the woman.
“Hey! Lego, did you notice?
“Notice what Luna, I really don't have time for this.” Lego had spoken, clearly not in the mood, I've never really heard her talk like this. Her gaze seemed fixated on a communicator, it was static yet some low voices could be heard.”
“The Locator bar, check it, the starbursts have been getting to us… Are you okay?” I tried to hide the worry, I really did, I knew she didn't like to be pitied.
“Yes, I've noticed, and I'm fine.” Her voice was harsh, something I hated hearing from her.
“Isnt that the communicator you and Mort used to always use? Lego please don't tell me you're talking with the enemies, he's on the other team!”
“You think I don't know that? Im just- spying in… I fear they plan on coming after us.”
“I knew something was off- you want us to move? Pack up? Tell the rest?”
“No, they'll see if we're all moving let alone changing locations. Dig out an area, place your spawn, we might have to fight it.”
“But you heard the news, they have been advancing much faster!”
“I know! Get to it Luna!”
“Yes ma’am…”
How else was I supposed to respond to that? Lego was my good friend, maybe I didn't know her as well as the rest such as Mason or MRC but she was still my friend. She was smart, much smarter than me, I knew that for a fact. I would always trust her decision but she seemed more irritated lately, maybe it was because she was separated from her family? Maybe it was the thought that her brother was going to fight against her.
