It was right outside their parents house, after Lucy mentioned she was going to finish college before she decided fully what she wanted to do. Her parents, of course, were supportive of her decision. Sava on the other hand, had mentioned she was dating a guy named Jake Butler. Lucy had heard the name before from a friend. From the little she had known about him, he was no good. She had mentioned to Sava that he wasn’t good for her, and as her twin sister she knew what was good for her. Sava had casually called her controlling and stormed out of the house.
“Sava!” Lucy screamed at her twin sister as she walked down the front steps following her.
“You can’t stop me from living my life, Luce,” she replied, stopping midway down the front lawn. “Just because you’re a goody two shoes doesn’t mean I have to be one too.”
“I never said that, but you’re going to get yourself killed!”
“Jake’ll protect me!”
“That dumbass?” Lucy snarled. “He’d be the reason mom and dad have to bury you!”
“You’re just jealous he wants me and not you.” Lucy actually laughed out loud at that.
“You think I want Jake?” she said. “His brain is half the size of a damn peanut!”
“Don’t insult him like that!” Sava yelled, slapping Lucy. She stilled. “Lu, I’m-”
“Don’t.” Lucy said, eyes raging with anger. “You chose this, him over family. Live with it.” She turned on her heels and walked away, leaving Sava with tears in her eyes.
Lucy couldn’t believe Sava would choose a guy over her. They promised when they were kids that they would always choose each other. Lucy found herself crying as she got into her car.

Lucy had gotten her morning coffee and was walking down the street when she was stopped by two officers. She thought she was insane because the broody one looked exactly like Jake.
“Sava Wu?” the second cop, obviously a rookie by the long sleeves, said.
“No?” she replied in the same tone.
“You look exactly like her, same face, same hair, same eye color.” Off-brand Jake said.
“At least I don’t look like a dumbass criminal,” she muttered to herself.
“What was that?”
“Nothing!” she said as she pulled out her ID and handed it to the officer.
“Lucille Chen,” he read. “Not Sava.”
“Yeah, you’re looking for my twin sister, not me.” she said. “Do you always chase after potential suspects without checking who they are first?”
“No, you just look exactly like her.”
“As I said, she’s my twin.”
“It didn’t mention she had a sister,” the rookie said.
“Yeah, she changed her last name so I assume her file didn’t mention me,” Lucy said. “Your type is always why we’re chasing down false leads.”
“Wait, ‘we’re’?”
“Let me introduce myself properly now- Hi! I’m Detective Lucy Chen!”
The T.O. practically choked on his own saliva then. “Detective?!”
“Wait- that means she’s your superior, Officer Bradford.”
“Yep, glad he hasn’t made you stupid.”
“Hey!”
“Anyways, why’re you after my sister?”
“We have her boyfriend, Jake and we believe she has information on a case.”
“Oh! So you do know him!”
“Huh?”
“Nothing.” Lucy said. “What station are you from?”
“Mid-Wilshire.”
“I’ll come by when I can and see if I can help find her.”
“Thank you, ma’am.”
“Ok, that sounds weird. Call me Lucy,” she said, cringing at the use of ‘ma’am’.
“Ok, Lucy,” he said.
Later on at Mid-Wilshire, Officer Bradford was in the roll call room with Nyla, Angela, Jackson, John, Aaron and Grey. “So you met her twin sister, and almost arrested her?”
“She looks exactly like her!”
“Tim Bradford, 41 years old and just learned what identical twins are!” Angela chided him.
“Shut it, Lopez.”
“She’s here,” Aaron said, pointing to the woman walking in.
“In here,” Bradford said, stepping out and holding the door open for her.
“What a gentlemen,” Lucy smiled innocently at him, walking past him. She stopped in her tracks when she made eye contact with Nyla.
“Lucy Chen, as I live and breathe.”
“Nyla!” she said, walking over to her. “I haven’t seen you in person in like forever!”
“Oh my god,” Nyla said. “Your sister is Sava?”
“Yeah,” she said. “I haven’t seen her since we were 18, we had a big fight.”
“I’m sorry.”
“Wait, y’all know each other?”
“She was my T.O!” Lucy said, taking her place beside Nyla.
“Yep,” Nyla said. “How’s the dating life, y’know, after Caleb?”
“Sucks, all men leave when they hear I’m an LAPD detective.”
“How are you doing after the whole thing? Did you get the tattoo removed?”
“I didn’t, someone very special told me it was my badge of honor, my day of survival.”
“I’m gonna cry,” Nyla said, hugging her.
“What tattoo?”
“Nothing,” Lucy said, not wanting to speak about her kidnapping.
“Let’s get back to the case. Lucy, do you know anywhere she could be?” Grey said.
“Honestly, no. We had a huge argument when we were freshly 18 and starting out.”
“What was it about?” Grey asked.
“We were at our parents house, I hadn’t figured out I wanted to be a cop yet and she had told our parents about Jake,” Lucy explained. “I knew who Jake was, he sold it to my college classmates. I simply told her she was gonna get herself killed and that he wasn’t good enough for her, but she wouldn’t listen. She chose him over me,” Lucy said, her voice cracking a bit.
“I’m sorry, Lucy,” Nyla said.
“It’s fine,” Lucy said. “Will Jake not tell you where she is?”
“No,” Tim said. “He might talk to you, maybe.”
“I’ll try,” she said, looking around the station, stopping at a woman. “But I don’t have to.”
“What?” Grey said. Lucy points to the woman.
“She’s right there.”
Everyone in the room looks over at her.
“Let me talk to her,” Lucy said, walking out of the roll call room with everyone following her. “Sava?”
The woman turned to look at Lucy. “Lu?”

“You need to stop sneaking out, Sav,” Lucy said, taking the energy drink from her.
“Then who else would get you the caffeine you need for these finals?” Sava responded, plopping down on her bed.
“I love you, Sav,” Lucy said, smiling at her sister.
“I love you too, Lu!”

“Sav,” Lucy said, smiling softly at her. “I missed you.”
“I missed you too!” Sava said, hugging her. “I’m sorry, I’m sorry I chose him,” she apologized.
“I’m sorry I yelled at you, I was just worried about you.”
“I know, I know.”
“We have Jake in custody,” Lucy said. “He sold a car full of drugs to a 17 year old girl.”
“Oh my god! He told me he stopped selling!” Sava cried. “I didn’t know, Lu.”
“That’ll be for Officer Bradford and Detective Lopez to find out, Sav,” Lucy said, pointing them out behind her.
“Oh my god,” Sava said. “He looks just like Jake!”
“He almost arrested me! He thought I was you!” Lucy complained.
“That’s what we get for being identical twins,” Sava laughed.
“Yeah, and one is a criminal while the other is a LAPD Detective,” Lucy said, following Tim and Angela as they headed to an interrogation room.
“I can’t believe you’re a cop,” Sava said, following. “How did mom and dad take it?”
“What do you think?” Lucy said.
“Not good, I’m assuming.”
“Nope!” Lucy said. “Basically said that I’m not their kid as long as I am a cop.”
“Damn, I’m sorry Lu,” Sava said, gripping her hand. “I wish I didn’t leave, I’m so sorry you lost your entire family.”
“It’s fine, Sav,” Lucy said. “Tell them everything.”
“I will,” Sava said, following Tim and Angela into the room.
Lucy was praying that Sava wasn’t lying and that she actually didn’t know what Jake had been doing.
